John Devecchis AKA The Owl takes flight once again here on his self titled label's 10th outing. Once again it is a head turning mix of disco and funk that carries on where his superb Concrete Funk album from 20121 left off. These are beefy cuts with authentic grooves, starting with the loose limbed playfulness of 'Shake It'. There is a more heavy, purposeful chug to 'Follow Me' which comes alive with lush strings and perfect soul vocals. 'Always Be There' leans into a house groove with noodling guitar riffs a la Chic and 'The Way' is a nice leggy and elastic pumper with expressive diva wails. Super stuff. More

Owl’s hibernation is over. The apex master of original and nostalgic remakes is back to claim his territory at the peak of that credible disco vantage point. This cult labels seventh vinyl release displays The Owl’s diversity in production styles. From originally written bottom-heavy bombs to painstakingly well-crafted funk fuelled reworks. Opening with a masterful adaption of a usually rather disjointed sounding track from the godfather of funk. The Owl seamlessly builds and slices relevant parts, to make a dancefloor song as catchy as it is groovy. The infectious use of a seemingly pedestrian vocal gives the song its rhythmical edge, making it a must-have for any true fan of real funk. Track two relays a deeper edge, whilst still keeping the overall funk undertone. With arrangement and percussion cleverly laid out in a house music format, this track is a very cool crossover from deep nu-disco to deep house. The third and fourth tracks show The Owl’s ability to write original material whilst still adding enough familiarity to keep the release within the overall scope of a rework release. More

After a lengthy break between releases, possibly to readjust to the cooler climate, The Owl returns with another slamming funk fuelled killer of a release. Nose diving directly into another banger, ‘Spank No Mo’ is funky and tough and perfect for the DJ who likes their groove with concrete shoes!

Second up is another funk fuelled vocal smash ‘Pure Heat’, that’s going to create some fire across every dance floor it’s played. Track three sees a different side of The Owl with an original track that uses a quirky 80’s sample thats gritty and heavy but still full of The Owl’s familiar sound.

The EP closes with a track already featuring on national radio. ‘Papa Do’ delves nicely into vocal blues territory but with an energy that is relentless. Rounding off yet another bomb release from The Owl and his label imprint. More

Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee channel that summer sun into this soulful house, Balearic and disco laced four tracker on their own label, Editorial, complete with a slice of Cody Currie remix brilliance.

Kicking things off, Cody Currie takes to remixing ‘Spirit Power’ with those tantalising Rhodes keys and skipping percussion laid behind a pensive female vocal. String laden, and deftly sampled Balearic beats then ease your mind via ‘Slo Fusion’.

On the flip, two sun-kissed disco cuts ‘Summer Love’ and ‘Aruban Nights’, the former a hazy warmup groover and the latter a mid-tempo flex, dripping in funk.

Making a return to the Editorial Waxed series is none other than Mexico's Hotmood. Having been lighting up the world with his reworks for a minute now, he splits the EP with the label’s own Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee for the 'Funk Brothers' EP.

Opening the record is a newcomer to Editorial, the UK’s very own Thatmanmonkz . He kicks things off with a remix of Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee's slo-mo classic 'Shades of Blue', pushing the tempo and taking it into a fabulously darker club workout.

Next up, Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee dial the tempo way back in customary style, with slinky hi-hats, funky claves and flute melodies. They top things off by adding their own Fender Rhodes to the mix resulting in a sunny, poolside cocktail number on 'Cantina'.

Flip the plate and Hotmood's side kicks off with the disco dance floor monster 'Chico Shake'. A bouncy bass line leads with a vocal urging you to 'shake it', as a horn line drives the point home. His second track 'El Artista', leverages the same groovy flute riff as seen on 'Cantina' while this version retains the decidedly uptempo dance floor aesthetic.

All in all, this EP touches on a number of flavours while providing tastemakers the tools to keep any discerning dance floor shaking! More

The Editorial express train rolls into town once again, with five brand new disco house gems juiced with that raw funk feeling from some of the hottest talent on the scene right now.
Taking the A side The Funk District opens with a mid-tempo funk infused bomb, filled with sensuous vocals, jamming bass riffs and spiritual organs. Matt Hughes follows with a looped up, low slung, housier number, steeped in striding bass lines and flanging guitars.
On the flip rising star Cody Currie picks up the pace with the summery glistening keys and off kilter stabs on ‘Aquarian Girl’ subtly laced with a double dose of acid. Up next, The Owl focuses his contribution around a squelching bass, staccato guitars and a brotherly troupe behind the mic, capturing that raw energy expertly.
Closing out the EP, Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee sends listeners on a slower, soulful eyes closed trip through the funk stratosphere, perfect to warm up the dance or as that final record to finish it off.

Editorial venture to France for ED025 with four expertly edited, blissful gems from Parisian producer, Chevals.
The A side hits with two hazy cuts of sun drenched disco house. ‘Left Behind’ swells with filtered tales of lost love radiating a bittersweet warmth. Rich bass melodies and clipped funk guitars shine through as thoughts drift away across glistening seas. ‘Eye Of Love’ is served up next, equally as impassioned with buzzing synths, basking Spanish guitars and joy-filled chords and congas give a sense of desert islands where day-to-day life is only a figment of the imagination.
Flip it over and ‘The Line’ hits with a pumped up, soulful bassline that solos and sidewinds with brazen hats as its accomplice. Squelching keys and deft Rhodes touches add luscious harmonies to leave listeners lulled by its masterful flow.
Last up, ‘Time’ takes a pensive, eyes closed trip - delicate vocals, summery synth lines and glimmering samples washing away the worries as they wander over the airwaves.

First up, Canadian duo Ed Wizard & Double Disco Dee, set out their stall out with a funked up gem, complete with reverbed Rhodes, a driving kick and sultry vocals laid over the top. London’s Duff Disco then comes in with a low-slung, sun-kissed groove perfect for cruising top down watching the world go by.
Flip it over and it’s on to Mexico where Hotmood serves up a sure-fire scorcher with an extra helping of the hot sawce – just how we like it! Final stop of Editorial’s 24th outing lands in Ukraine, with Alex Zuiev harnessing the inner funk and letting loose with a disco house smasher, perfect for those peaktime moments.
