Back with another banger compilation. On the A-side we've got the quintessential anonymous producer Crue who provides heat with the very first cut on this record which is a peak time banger close to the techno and acid realm. Then, on the same side, a great Detroit deep house influenced track by Esperanza's label boss Kasper shows the infectious and deeper work for this broad release.
On the flip side Cologne based producer Adryiano shows his huge talent again with an immense garage house cut made strictly for the dancefloor, with a delicious vocal and an impressive low end that will become an instant classic like his previous releases. Last but not least is Kirill Tipo, one of those hidden new names that are putting out amazing fresh music these days. With a track full of emotions and feelings, he managed to arrange all the elements growing steadily to fulfill the release with an captivating ending. More

The Soul Notes imprint has never restricted itself to just one sound. Ever since it emerged in late 2011, the Basque County based outfit has shown several sides of it's identity and has developed into a diverse and well balanced home. One of the label's usual suspects is Cologne native, Adryiano. After reaping some havoc with his efforts on the SNX series early last year, Adryiano has been crafting his ''Down South EP'' (ironically) somewhere in the North Rhine-
Westphalian Concrete Jungle. The Down South EP is buldging with deep sine basses, fine rhythmic synthwork and lavish but hefty beats. The title track showcases these exact things best. The essence of Adryiano's latest effort is still somewhat hard to pin down. A lot of different moods are going on throughout the EP while the overall sounds maintains it's own glance. From the deep machinefunk on Down South to the broken beats of Feel What You do. All of these bits have a nice theme to them. More

One would never think of mystic rituals when thinking of Basque county. Yet, this might be a premature thought. Naturally, the isle of Haiti or the American deep south come to mind when thinking of these tribal traditions. Label owner Kastil and his good friend I-Real are also not afraid of these so called spiritual folkways. The major difference being that they use machines to do the job. Voodoo turned out to be a release that indeed hints to far-away cultures and sobby swamps. At least the title track does. Coming from a similar background of loving music that's heavily based on machines and technology but at the same time captures certain emotions, the two Basques teamed up in Kastil's modular lair that's situated deep in the hills of Vitoria. The outcome is to be experienced. Whilst the before mentioned Voodoo is drenched with perc, Lo Mak and Kao Kamoo are based heavily on an almost anti 4X4 mindstate. Technically advanced beats topped off with otherworldly pads and state of the art sound design.
Chang is a moody bit, buldging with bass and reminiscent of underwater-wildlife.

Label-owner Kastil continues the Soul Notes imprint with a release that represents the self-reivention process that he is currently experiencing. Emphasizing on advanced synthesis and a more atmospheric approach to his sound, the Basque country native takes one on an intergalactic journey through his current mindset. The title track 'Binary Star' is a spacious journey where Kastil subtly blends ferm drums with a mystic pad and unusual drum changes. The effort slowly builds into a otherworldly peak with an original synthline. For the A2 effort called 'Forest Curtains' Kastil heads into more repetitive territory where the focus lies heavily on drums and FX, some squeeky synth bits set the tone. On the B side we find a very interesting Binary Star rework from EOMAC (of Lakker fame) who sets a somewhat dark tone which is reminiscent of Garage from a futuristic techno point of view. Not a track to pin down to one genre but definitely an effort that will turn a lot of heads.

In recent times Soul Notes tilted a little towards more groove driven, distortion laden machine funk. SNX001 is the missing release out of the SNX series thus far. Label head honcho Kastil joins up with Cologne based "Adryiano', who is quickly becoming one of the labels favorite household names. The signature SNX sounds is developing into a dark psych-oriented club sound which this EP represents as never before. The opening track ''Snakes and Holes'' is pure percussive machinery with the heaviest overdriven kickdrums you'll ever hear. On the A2, Adryiano sets the mood with a low swinging bass and some eardrum deafening kicks which progresses into the B1 which is perced out to the max with some 303 bassline drama and distortion to top that off. For the B2 track, head honcho kastil shows off some Lo-fi drum action on Controversy.

Hamsa Intenational are hitting us with some obscure and analog live jams for club use only. Rigid grooves that transform subtly by the use of frequency cuts and vocal chops make Bodytalk an interesting Lo-Fi sounding yet energetic Jam for peak hours and after. The analog warmth that's filling up the speaker cans comes straight out of old machines and a tape recorder. While Bodytalk keeps the pace of an incoming asteroid, the B side ''Endless M.I.E.F.'' is a more slow lick with smoothly filtered and progressing pads that compliment the smartly programmed analog drum works and the feels like its gently touching the ride that's on top. Clocking in just around 12,5 minutes expect a well written story. Told by achines, of course.

There's something uncomfortable about finding things at places you don't expect. Loskober aren't afraid of unorthodox production techniques and sound crafting. A strong dose of uber saturated sounds is smartly blended into a mix of squelchy 303 sounds and randomly placed crashed. Being just as straight forward as the Soul Notes imprint is considering itself, Loskober is balancing on the thin line between insanity and geniality. A place where producers are not likely to go for their first output. The B side called ''Bounce that Ass'' again shows some unconventional saturated drums together with a repetitive disco sample that together create a filtered down analog machine jam hinting to an outrageous period in dancefloor music whilst keeping its own identity. Loskober doesnt care about rules and expectations, just about keeping the funk alive.

Dancefloor Damage all the way. The new Soul Notes VA 12'' has been building anticipation all around. Since it includes 4 of the most in demand names from the rough house scenes at the moment, this one is not to be missed. Labelowner Kastil pulled out the big guns and got soul notes usual Fulbert on one record with himself and the ever so amazing Malin Genie who has been making waves through the whole of europe with his thumping sound. Fulbert, Kastil and Malin delivered 3 excellent productions that will perfectly fit into one peaktime set. This is music for the dancefloor and nothing else. Bass bin wrecking club slicers for true house heads. Last but not least, the excentric Jefferson Belmondo makes an appearance With a disco'ish anthem called Booty Groove. The title kind off reveals where he's coming from as Jefferson might be unknown for most, on the streets of Miami he is a bonafide legend. After spending most of his life in shady motels and as a DJ in extravagant nightclubs, Jefferson finally took out his old DAT tapes and got this track to Kastil through a mutual friend. All and all, Many Shades of Soul Notes Vol.1 is a peaktime record that is above all meant for clubplay. This fine package includes a 180GR 12'' and a designed sleeve. This 6th installment in the Soul Notes series will be available from March 4th through all respected retailers.
