The TK Disco music empire has blessed our ears and minds with an endless stream of music since it's late 1960's inception. Countless soul and funk sides were produced, cut and released by label founder Henry Stone and his associates, in turn changing the face of contemporary black music in the USA and across the world forever. It is true that the TK story originated on America's 'Space Coast', the modern frontier of lunar exploration and galactic travel, the home of NASA and countless missions beyond the stars nestled on the East Coast of the United States.

'Moon Ride' - The compilation you hold in your hands, is merely one strand of the incredible music that was beamed out of Hialeah, FL over the decades. The focus on this collection is the idea of the 'cosmic' from the Disco era. These are records that emit a spacey vibe, either from their lyrical content or equally from their sonic qualities, imbibing synths and electronics to create otherworldly grooves. These records were big hits on underground music scenes such as Daniele Baldelli's cosmic movement in the 70's and 80's in Lake Garda, they were vehicles of escapism and hedonism on the discerning dancefloors of NYC in the hands of progressive DJs like David Mancuso and Nicky Siano and they were also essential building blocks in the creation of House and Techno music in the Midwestern cities of Chicago and Detroit, inspiring legendary artists such as Mr Fingers and Jeff Mills and countless others. An essential collection of music for listening, dancing, loving and travelling!

About 6 months ago, just before I set off on my 5 month tour of Europe I got a message from a good friend of mine asking me if I would edit a track that he loves.
I said of course, and asked him what track.
Turns out its a big favourite of mine also.
'Why Can't We Live Together' by Timmy Thomas is an amazing song with a strong message that is even more relevant today than it was back in 1972.
The message is clear, it's simple, it's beautiful.
I'm saddened by recent events around the world and I've always tried to spread love through music, because for me, music is love.
I hope you share the message and enjoy.

When it comes to this Deep Disco cut, Africano is one of those tracks that became a dancefloor favorite of Danielle Baldelli who during the 80s played Disco, African records, American R&B, and reggae to create what has been since become known as the Afro-Cosmic scene at the height of Club culture in the discotheques of Northern Italy.

Legit Reissue of Ted Taylor's long sought after "Ghetto Disco" 12" excavated from the deepest realms of the TK Disco vaults! Funky, rough round the edges in the best way, tough ghetto Disco grooves here from 1977, delivered by the mighty Ted Taylor who was originally a blues singer from Oklahoma. Pairing Taylor's soul-steeped voice with the sunshine-state production values of the legendary Wardell Quezergue ('Mr big stuff', 'Groove me' & more!), this one's a dance-floor sure-shot. Never has a track been more aptly named. This is a proper underground jam, one that, until now, was the preserve of the heads, diggers and Disco freaks. 3 overlooked jams on one 12" single, excavated from the deepest realms of the TK Disco vaults. Remastered, represented and brought back into focus for 2017's DJ bags and dance-floors. Side A sees Wizzdom's 1980 boogie jam 'Free bass' kicking off proceedings. A P-funk-ish, low slung jam indeed, it has everything you'd want including some Furious Five esque shouts of 'Free-Bass!' weaving in and out of the mix. This one is a true heads cut, one for the diggers! Over on side B we get Jimmy 'Bo' Horne's slamming 'Is it in?' - a stomping piece of Disco-funk that in the right hands will cause maximum damage. Also, Jimmy's mildly double-entendre lyrics are hugely entertaining! Following up we have a cut from Herman Kelly & Life, 'A refreshing love' was an LP only release and is some serious downtempo Latin tinged soul super soaked in Miami sunshine! NYC Disco legend Danny Krivit returns to the editing block on behalf of seminal Miami Disco powerhouse TK Disco. With 45 years in the DJ game under his belt and having played endless gigs all over the world during that time it's safe to say Mr.K knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to the re-edit thing! With unprecedented access to TK's vaults Danny has been turning in some stellar reworkings as of late and the cuts included on this latest instalment keep the quality sky high! On the A-side Mr.K kicks off with a heavyweight edit of a stone cold b-boy / club classic! The legendary, late Ralph McDonald's (RIP) 'Jam on the groove' has long been a staple source of nourishment for hungry samplers and it's stripped back, calypso influenced percussion breakdowns have found themselves being cut up by numerous DJ's at clubs and block parties since it's original release in 1976. Here, Mr.K brings that killer breakdown right up front, rearranging the track in a way that gives us all the meat! This is a truly pared back edit, those with keen ears will recognise a wealth of samples that have been jacked from mr McDonald's drum-kit. This is one cut you can either hustle to or head-spin to! Hot, hot, hot.... The B-side see's Miami's FOXY and their 'Get off your aaah & dance' get the Mr.K editing block treatment. Kicking off with some tight drums with a heavy Latin influence this cut rolls along so smooth, giving way to a super funky pairing of guitars and flutes. FOXY are another group whose catalogue has been plundered by sample savvy producers over the years. This particular track is Disco heaven, beautifully produced and arranged, it flows along and will certainly cause some dance-floor tremors! The Ritchie Family's sunny 1977 b-side 'Summer dance' is a roof raising soulful stormer of the highest degree! 100% Disco heat, a record that would have gotten numerous spins in the 'real' Disco clubs and dance-floors upon it's release. It has it all - soaring string arrangements, driving percussion breakdowns and of course, top shelf vocals from Cheryl, Cassandra and Gwendolin. With those super crisp drums upfront in the mix, punctuated by orchestral stabs this edit is perfect for the DJ's, and will be a welcome go-to cut in the booth! Don't snooze... Wild Honey were a soul trio from Texas, here their 1976 number "At the top of the stairs" - a deep vocal track - gets the Mr.K treatment with Danny editing the vocals out and giving us a rolling, string laden stomper. With a respectful, slight rearrangement he manages to bring a new slant on this already well loved underground Disco jam pushing it into the stratosphere! Jo Bisso's unique Disco sound has long been popular with fans of underground dance music, his long percussive cuts have always done the business for DJ's who dig deeper for their sounds giving Bisso some cult "hits" under his belt. "Love somebody" was originally released in 1977 and clocked in at a staggering 16 minutes across 2 separate parts on the LP. Step in editing royalty Danny Krivit, who blesses us with yet another essential Disco weapon in the form of his punchier, stripped back edit of this monster cut. As usual with a Mr.K edit all the right parts have been left in, everything's been touched, reworked, extended and tweaked in just the right ways, the only way a master knows how! This one will work any dance-floor and will sound huge on a good system! Trust us, give it a spin! On the flip we have an extended Mr.K edit of Amant's "Hazy shades of love" lifted from their 1978 self titled LP on TK offshoot Marlin. Amant was another production pseudonym of Ray Martinez, the legendary artist, engineer, producer and remixer who worked with numerous artists including Mongo Santamaria, George McCrae, Quincy Jones and many more. Mexican brothers Soul Of Hex are back on Delusions Of Grandeur and deliver an absolute gem of an EP entitled Constellation. With recent releases on Underground Resistance (as Mano De Fuego) and an upcoming release on Kilometro 4.5 which features Mad Mike Banks and Kuniyuki it’s safe to say Soul Of Hex are keeping good company and have earned the respect they deserve through their talent, consistency and hard work. Leading the charge we have Face Down which is an absolute barnstormer of a track which features a killer electric bass line and low slung dubby disco drums and twisted FX. Simple, powerful and funky AF! Constellation is up next, picking up the BPM’s for a full on soulful piano house jam which features Javonntte and Mariana Phelts on vocals. Far from being a retro throwback, Soul Of Hex have successfully created a fresh and original slice of feel good, disco-influenced house music while doffing their caps to to the OG maestro Marshall Jefferson.
