nightdrivers - "Fast Cars"
This february Nightdrivers deliver three first-rate cuts on Holic Trax for the 'Quando Party Dove Vai ?' EP. Following on from Burnski's 'The Hours' EP which saw love from names like Mr G, Catz 'N' Dogz, Detroit Swindle and Eats Everything, Holic Trax returns this February with Nightdrivers' 'Quando Party Dove Vai ?'. Since delivering their debut release on Bosconi Records back in 2013 the Berlin-based duo Nightdrivers have been going from strength to strength stacking up further releases on Claap, their own Nightdrivers label and now Holic Trax. To get things underway the light pads of 'Resta Pure Dove Sei' give the opening track a floaty quality while the weighty percussion and subtle rhythms build proceedings into a steady and infectious groove. Nightdrivers appear to go up a gear as the EP progresses with the rippling drums and dynamic arrangements of 'La Ronde Suite (But Not For Me)' while 'Fast Cars' maintains the lively vibe of its predecessor and frenetically bubbles along over busy modulations, wacky intonations and infectious licks to dish up a suitably punchy close to this bouncy EP.

Short info:
Nightdrivers are an amazing italian production duo comprising of Niccolo Rufo aka Rufus and Martino Marini aka Mass Prod. The duo caught our attention with previous releases on Bosconi records as well as their recently released "Nightvisions" ep on their self titled Nightdrivers offshoot. Two of Italy's finest comtemporary house producers, "The easy life ep" is a clear reflection of what sets these guys apart. Fresh rolling house grooves composed with an oldschool approach and a touch of their own class. Analogue synths, drum machines and a walkman are the key components to the raw and rich sound of their debut release and it is with great pleasure that we welcome this upcoming act to the Claap camp. All you have to do is place the needle on the record and let the music drive you into the night!

Nightdrivers finally launch their label with some seriously bassline-heavy, rollin' & pumpin' jams. Swirling pads glaze a buzz-stuttered synth bass on the A, while hot phone chat and police call-ins ramble over a high velocity drive-time drum tool.

Tomoki Tamura's label Holic Trax has long been a renowned place for canny clued up house and techno. It's latest continues in this regard, as Tamura again calls on a series of renowned friends to bring the heat. With names such as Mr.G, Satoshi Tommie and Tuccillo all appearing here alongside Tamura himself, so it's no surprise that this 3 x vinyl record, celebrating 5 years is filled with drama and high points throughout. This "Edition 1 of 5iVE YEARS HOLIC TRAX" is immediately obvious from the title that Mr.G's "Jumon EP". Pays homage to the label's Japanese heritage, A1 "Soba Shioyaki" is a dark and dexterous workout that marks another high point in a career filled with big records. Deep but tough, it's a perfect example of why the tech house master is so revered in underground circles. B1 "Komorebi" puts a tougher emphasis on the drums, as well as a weaving, subtle baseline that adds a further dynamic to his work here.

Tuccillo & Djebali - - "1st Floor"
Tomoki Tamura's pure house label Holic Trax is back with more trend setting hits with this excellent new EP from Tuccillo, Djebali & John Dimas. Tuccillo is very much on a roll at the moment - he makes everything from deep house to tech to chill out to disco and does so on labels like Visionquest and 2020 Vision as well as of course Holic Trax. Established in Ibiza some years ago, the creativity and style of his work has seen him in demand with heavyweights of the musical scene, and as such he is a regular on radio, in clubs around the world and atop many dance music charts. For this EP, Tuccillo teams up with acclaimed producers John Dimas from Greece and Frenchman Djebali for a total of three tracks, whilst label head Tomoki Tamura also serves up one great edit. Up first is the fresh sounding 'A View From' with John Dimas. Lively and spritely, with groovy bass and energetic drums, this one is a bubbly, charming cut that cannot fail to make you want to move on the dance floor. The two then team up for 'Live 23' which gets edited by Tamura into a much quicker and slicker, techno leaning effort with rubbery bass and bleeps as well as some soulful and emotive pads. 'Atuler' feat Djebali then gets back to a more jacking style with firm hits and lots of reverb making for a fat bottomed groove. Some garage percussion adds an irresistible sense of skip to the track and some carefully treated vocals float about inside it adding yet another fine layer. Then comes vinyl only bonus '1st Floor,' again with Djebali. This brilliant track is subtle and deep, seductive and filled with soul. As well as being driven forward at an inviting pace, more mysterious voices pan left and right and trap you right at the heart of the lush atmospheres this pair create. This is another tasteful EP of no nonsense modern house music that is stuffed with real feeling and plenty of proud production aesthetics.

Rick Wade delivers three deep originals on Holic Trax this March with a Tomoki Tamura edit in tow. One swift look at Rick Wade's staggering back catalogue, from a career spanning more than 20 years, will attest to the Detroit-based producers raw talent in the studio, crafting grooveladen rhythms into cuts that exemplify the word deep. In his latest EP, 'Tech Breed', Rick demonstrates his inimitable production prowess across three expertly forged tracks. Straight from the off you can hear Wade's knack for creating synergy between analog gear and digital software as the title track ensues with an undulating groove that's quickly accompanied by subterranean synths for mesmerizing results. With 'Groovy' the percussion shifts to bongos, whilst ethereal atmospherics and otherworldly notes maintain a mood both arcane and dusky. The tone then shifts in 'Whoa Children' with a sharp injection of funk triggered by soulful vocals and a pulsing bassline - its sultry, smooth and guaranteed to get your body moving. In a sentence, the cuts offered up here ooze soul and vibrancy in a deep way that only Rick Wade can purvey, three warm and groovy cuts that will no doubt be finding their way into many a record bag this year. Holic Trax head honcho Tomoki Tamura delivers an equally dynamic club tool for the final offering on this excellent EP.

Influential house label Holic Trax is launching a new sub series here with a debut EP from Ivan Iacobucci entitled Monoklo 1. The sub label, also call Monoklo, will showcase a deeper, darker house sound that focusses on the dance floor and sees all material selected by the boss, Tomoki Tamura. Behind this first EP is Italian Ivan Iacobucci, who has been producing since the '90s on Nite Grooves, King Street, Smoke Joke and many others. Influenced by everything from jazz to Detroit techno, afro cuban beats to pure funk, he has a truly fresh approach to sound. Up first, 'Router' is a deep, bubbly house track with corrugated drums and dusty hi hats. Spooky synths add a sense of space and depth and it's an intimate way to kick off the EP. 'Anorak' is another deep cut with warm and cuddly vibes pervading to bubbly, soft edge drums and captivating rhythms. Filled with organic textures and rich with a human feel, the cut sucks you right in from the off. Vinyl only cut, 'De Mai Sus' then rocks back and forth with deep, bubbly basslines, streaming sci-fi melodies and kinetic percussive patterns that are subtle but that really bring the funk. All analogue sounding and dynamic from the ground up, it's a spaced out and emotive house cut that will make you feel as well as dance.
