4 Techno banging tracks by UK Legend Ben Sims, on the A side Rippin & Skippin is this relentless Jackin heavy Techno jam. Gamma Ray Subway is a Funky Hypnotic and repetitive jam that can somehow be pictured in a Jeff Mills set, while on the B side it's Acid attack! The Stalker is a darky heavy monster, while Acid OD is a dope and raw Acid jam.

ben sims - break glass (sims rmx)
Following his well received fabric mix comp in December 2013, Ben Sims returns to his own Theory imprint with yet another ?ring release in the form of ‘Re?ection’, which features two original new tracks, a remix from ROD and a vinyl exclusive. The eponymous opener is a strident, 909 + 707 driven affair that fuses overlapping, stereoscopic tones to a gently distorted and brutalist groove that sits somewhere between Dance Mania and Detroit. ‘Break Glass’ is the second original on offer and has been a heavily requested track for the past few months. The perfect partner to ‘Re?ection’, ‘Break Glass’ is similarly overdriven but heavy on the sort of mechanical funk that Sims does so well. ROD’s version of ‘Re?ection’ is a linear assault which ebbs and ?ows with purpose throughout a linear and intense arrangement while Sims’ remix of ‘Break Glass’ zeros in on bone rattling percussive aesthetics and vox samples, in much demand after featuring on his fabric mix cd.

Ben Sims’ Theory imprint nudges closer to it’s closure at it’s 50th release but 048 proves that the label is far from over yet with heavyweight cuts coming from Paul Mac and Ritzi Lee this April. Paul Mac, fresh from a well received house release on Nick Woolfson’s Teng, opens the EP with ‘Control’, a slow burning and steady groove which ebbs and ?ows with ethereal and distorted triplets and looped vocals, creating a tense yet heady piece of late night techno. The A2 track sees Mac take on Dutch producer Ritzi Lee’s Dettmann, DVS1 and Luke Slater hammered ‘Reverse Process’, employing similarly overdriven aesthetics to the original’s buoyant and anthemic top lines underpinned by a mountainous drum assault. On the ?ip Ritzi Lee serves up a pacey ?ltered workout entitled ‘Subway Trip’ – a neat title considering the tracks nifty manipulation of repetition and subterranean depths – while also delivering a lean and brutal version of Paul Mac’s excellent ‘Grind Returns’ which featured on Ben Sims fabric73 comp late last year.

Mark's classic 'Shooting Stars' was originally released on the late great 'Offshoot' label in 1998 and became an underground hit, seeing support from a variety of DJ's including Derrick May, Cajmere and of course, Ben Sims. Fast forward 15 years and this uncompromising tough edged disco workout still gets dropped and is highly sought after on the second hand vinyl market, so we thought it was time for a respectful remix package. First up is a brand new firing makeover from the man himself that jacks in all the right places while staying true to original groove, then label head honcho Ben Sims who drops an intense Lil Louis inspired reworking. Uk hero Aubrey gets Dark on us with an intricate and menacing remix while newly formed Fokus Group (aka Paul Mac & Ben Sims) pull no punches with a relentless and harsh interpretation (Vinyl Only).
