The third release on Pooledmusic's techno-focused sister imprint Montage welcomes back Silvershower, revisiting the debut release of Ian Pooley's techno alias on its 20th anniversary. The original Ice Fractions 1 EP arrived on Plus 8 Records when Richie Hawtin & John Aquqaviva's legendary label was at the height of its powers, and showcased a tougher edge to Pooley's productions. Two decades later Pooley is still maintaining his high standards, revisiting and updating past work in the form of reissues & remixes and issuing fresh original material such as his recent Turakina EP on Pooledmusic and the return of Silvershower last year. which marked Montage's launch This new edition of the first Ice Fractions 12" supplies the two original lead tracks and an updated 2016 remix of each by Pooley himself, satisfying both those aiming for the vintage 1996 techno sound, and those looking for a punchy update for modern techno cathedrals.

Having firmly established himself over the course of an 18 year production career for a musical output under a number of productions guises and collaborations, the Early Fever EP finds German techno veteran Ian Pooley resurrecting his Silvershower alias for a first release on Plus 8 since his Ice Fractions EP in 1996. The EP finds Pooley moving into the shadows and pursuing a darker, rougher sound than the Brazilian-influenced productions many will know his more recent work for: "I did night sessions in the studio to get the right vibe. The main thing I wanted was to use real drum machines and analogue synths instead of samples. Doing something that's different from my usual sound was very stimulating, so the whole EP kind of came together by itself". What emerged was an EP that nodded to Silvershower's past as well as moving the alias into the future: Blue 2011 reworked a track from an older EP; the lead track, Early Fever, brought what Pooley describes as a more classically Chicago-influenced sound to the fore; while Sinister and Whiteout accentuates the darker aspects of the new productions. Having embarked on the project at the suggestion of Richie Hawtin, Pooley says the invigorating return to the less-polished and techier Silvershower sound made Plus 8 the perfect label for the release. Swedish producer Hans Berg returns to Pooledmusic's techno-focused sister imprint Montage with another collection of uniquely esoteric techno. Known for previous work on Kant and collaborations with Johanna Knutsson, Berg debuted on the label in 2015 with the Field EP. His second outing once again provides another showcase for his intriguing rhythmic sensibilities and pleasingly askew take on the classic techno sound palette. The EP is completed by another heads-down burner of a remix from Silvershower, aka label boss Ian Pooley.

Ian Pooley's his new techno label Montage follows up the inaugural release from his Silvershower alias by handing a label debut to Hans Berg, the Swedish producer with previous releases for Kant and known for collaborations with Johanna Knutsson. For his first Montage outing Berg delivers two original tracks showing both sides of his production talent. A-side 'Field' employs an elastic bassline that recalls some of the more dancefloor-focused workings of UK producers such as Four Tet and Joy Orbison, while 'Polar' sees the Swede head in a more stargazing direction, its trance-like melodies cloaking a sturdy backbone. Pooley's Silvershower alias rounds out the 12" with a darker take on the A cut, pinning the original's bassline to its heavy kick, ride and claps for a powerful techno roller. More
