Following on from the success of their first release, the 'Cooler Heads' EP featuring two cuts from Detroit legend, Rick Wade, the boys are back again with their 'Here To Stay' EP featuring two original tracks and two remixes. Label bosses, Jon Brooks & Cecil, take the lead on this one backed by remixes from rising artists, Kastil and Adryiano. It's a solid House EP; a modern take on a vintage sound with different moods to suit different times of the night and different playing styles. The lead song, 'Wanna Feel', kicks in with driving 909 drums and a spoken word sample before leading into syncopated chord stabs. As these progress throughout the track so do the vocal snippets backed up by a rolling sub bass line and a loose skittery snare roll throughout adding fluidity to the solid drum groove. On the remix is upcoming Spanish artist, Kastil, reworking the vocal sample into a delayed, stuttered groove. This is complimented by a classic sounding piano riff and an acid tinged bass line. On the B side, 'Got To Get Looser', is a more laid back, less percussive driven track but no less effective. The shaker and well used disco stab alongside the soulful vocal sample create an immediate dance floor friendly groove. Reworking this is Adryiano, turning it into a 90s Garage inspired bomb with the bass line taking the lead hook accompanied by clattered, punchy drum work keeping the rhythm. This will be an 180 gram, vinyl only release with only 500 being pressed. It's due to go on sale from March 2013.

Artful Division is a new imprint from the UK's Midlands and it's debut release see's the legendary Rick Wade drop some heavyweight deep vibes in the form of ?Cooler Heads'. Jon Brooks (Jon Samwell & Will Brooks) and Cecil (Tom Fallon) are the DJs/Producers behind Artful Division and have been running parties of the same name in Leicester for just over a year, plying quality deep house in a city that surprisingly (to some) has more than a solid rep for it. This first release for the Artful Division imprint takes in two original cut from Rick Wade and remixes from label bosses Jon Brooks & Cecil and fellow Leicester housers and City Fly residents, Höhle. The skittering snares and punchy drum work Rick Wade is known for is in spades on opener, ‘Cooler Heads’ – a reduced, undulating slice of classic deep house that presents itself in a hazy, laid back way despite undoubted weight. ‘Jal’ is light on its feet and a raw counterpart to the title track but still sees Wade’s nifty use of chords and bass rhythms to turn in a slow burning, infectious groove. Höhle turns in the first of the ‘Jal’ remixes, preserving the trademark Wade grunt but adding layers of melodies to create a dense, heady interpretation while Jon Brooks & Cecil deliver a version that ups the skipping, earthy elements to great effect. An accomplished and classic sounding release from an old master and two promising production teams as well as a superb debut for the imprint.
