Jakob Häglsperger AKA Kalipo is a busy man. Operating as one third of German electro-punk band Frittenbude, his solo alias was brought to life in 2014 with debut album "Yaruto", released on experimental label Antime Records.
The multi-faceted producer now returns to Audiolith with the "Wanderer EP", after having released the gorgeous "Mäusemarsch" this summer on the label's electronic-focused Stiff Little Spinners compilation series.
"Wanderer "is a restless record which sees Kalipo work his way through the deeper ends of four to the flour with a refreshingly experimentalist approach to production, with defamiliarized samples and analogue gear running the show.
The music has changed since the Berliner's debut album, becoming more propulsive, more physical and geared towards the dancefloor. Composed mostly on tour or over extended periods of travelling, the track names on "Wanderer" each come with their particular story, referencing places Kalipo has previously played or traveled to.
Monolithic opener "Donau Sunrise" sets the tone straight from the start with sanguine arpeggiators that work their way across a mystical backdrop. Melancholic themes infiltrate the cracks of the album and stand out tracks "Banana Garden", written when Kalipo was stuck in a bamboo hut in the middle of thai jungle with a 40 degree fever and nothing else but headphones, a sampler and penicillin for company, and the stunning "Institute Of Cotton Wool" are set to become earworms of the highest order.
"Wanderer" sees Kalipo right in his element. Tension builds and dissolves gracefully throughout and the Berliner's audacious approach to production give his music an authentic and very recognizable feel, one which is clearly Berlin-influenced but which also evades the set templates.

His debut album Yaruto follows a series of remixes and contributions to compilations released by Antime and Stiff Little Spinners. On their self-titled debut album, the German-Indian project Hotel Kali present the results of what started as a brief residency for Theresa Stroetges a.k.a. Golden Diskó Ship in Kolkata and ended in her joining forces with double bass player Debjit Mahalanobis, synth enthusiast Varun Desai and the versatile songwriter Suyasha Sengupta. "Hotel Kali" is a living, breathing entity that theoretically picks up on many different musical traditions but in practice challenges them all. Four different individuals find a common ground somewhere between and far beyond cosmic rock, experimental dance music, and adventurous post-rock.

The 2010s really changed my perception of how digital technologies and social media affect me as a musician. The past seven years took Martin and his laptop and guitar from Berlin to Mexico and Nepal and, as a founding member of Frittenbude, into the German charts and to various festival stages. And yet, Bad Stream is a true "Berlin album," out of Friedrichshain, Neukölln, and Kreuzberg and will be released on Martin Steers own label ANTIME. It was recorded with real drums and programmed beats, with shoegaze guitars, acid baselines, piano, smartphone synths, violins, field recordings from the darknet and his voice, whose hopeless timbre conveys reflections on systems, the future, drugs, people, and his own place. In his ever expanding A/V live shows and in the music videos, this is supplemented by complex visuals.

With their debut LP Corolla for ANTIME, the Berlin-based trio Soft Grid captures the explosive energy of its
celebrated live shows. Soft Grid was started in 2014 in an abandoned hospital ward by Jana Sotzko (of Dropout
Patrol) and Theresa Stroetges (alias Golden Diskó Ship), who had previously been working together in the
improvisation project Epiphany Now. After their spontaneously composed and recorded tape release Stingrays
was issued through Berlin’s Twaague Records in the summer of 2015, the British drummer and producer Sam Slater
was recruited more or less directly from a Berlin dancefloor to join the band for live shows. He became a full
member in no time. Since then, the three-piece has shared stages around Germany alongside such diverse acts
as Des Ark, Milemarker, Messer, or even Tolouse Low Trax, and will head out for a tour in support of Corolla to
coincide with the record’s release in mid October.
Corolla is as much of an improvisational effort as their live shows: not really. Just like their gigs - which have all
members wandering around to take over duties on synthesizers, bass, guitar, viola, and microphones - Corolla is
a carefully mapped out, compositional whole, recorded live over two days in Salon Berlin by Sylvain Livache. It
showcases the trio’s taste for ventures into the realms of extreme acoustic sounds and electronic textures as well
as their knack for catchy hooks and driving rhythms. Even amidst the heaviest synth breakdowns, there’s
something joyful to cling to. Soft Grid make music that is continuously twisting and shifting, which immerses itself
in the steady flow of sonic events without losing focus. Anything goes on Corolla , and when it does, the
three head in exactly the same direction.
From the massive opening chords of »Herzog On A Bus« to the subtle Chicago-style Post-Rock influences on
»Hospital Floor« and the erratic finale which is the title track, Soft Grid create a musical narrative throughout their
debut LP which reflects its lyrical themes. While the lyrics of Corolla, themselves a collaborative effort, sample
everything from a Werner Herzog documentary to the eerie atmosphere of that hospital ward where the band
was born, there is at least one leitmotiv which ties them together: Soft Grid are first and foremost concerned with
moving forward. And they will. More

ˆL_ is the moniker of the Brazilian producer and sound artist Luis Fernando. Having released his debut
album »Love Is Hell« in 2014 through the Berlin-based ANTIME imprint, he also received attention
with a slew of remixes and contributed to several compilations, most notably »Hy Brazil Vol. 7« which
was hand-selected by Chico Dub, one of the most important figures in the Brazilian electronic music
scene. In 2015, ˆL_ embarked on a successful, two-week long Germany tour with his ANTIME label
mate AAAA and released the more dancefloor-orientated EP »The Outsider«, also through ANTIME.
Apart from his work as a producer, Fernando regularly hosts workshops on sound design with a focus
on film and radio works. Fernando started making music as a young teenager, citing bands like My
Bloody Valentine or Nine Inch Nails as inspiration for his first Shoegaze-leaning excursions in the
music world. As he grew older, his taste varied and his own output became increasingly eclectic.
Nowadays, ˆL_ works mostly digital and oscillates between film score-inspired sounds, acidic Techno,
Noise and abstract electronic music.
However heterogeneous ˆL_’s music might be in terms of stylistics, Fernando cunningly manages to
weave all elements together into integrally closed narratives full of unforeseeable twists which follow a
well thought out logic. The prolific Brasília-based producer furthermore creates continuity through his
unmatched sensitivity when it comes to sampling. Fernando, who has researched and taught about
the art of sampling, has built up an impressive archive and regularly immerses himself in his
surroundings for field recordings. The result of his relentless pursuit is inscribed deeply into his music,
which always unmistakably sound like ˆL_, whether it is a hard-hitting 130 bpm Techno belter or a
richly textured IDM track with Jazz and Noise elements thrown in for good measure.
Fernando was raised in a strongly Catholic family which triggered within him a disdain for religion and
the social injustice caused by it. Thus, his music, apart from psychological and literary topics, often
critically explores religious and philosophical themes. Although predominantly instrumental, the music
he makes under the moniker ˆL_ relies heavily on Fernando’s sampling techniques which – apart from
resulting in his distinctive sound signature – allow him to incorporate external references in his work.
ˆL_’s music is hence substantially informed by literature, film and philosophy, which is also reflected in
the tracks’ titles. Fernando thereby provides a complex paratext to his sound art which thusly can be
approached from various different perspectives. Not only does ˆL_ transcend musical boundaries, his
work can also not simply be reduced to sound alone.
ˆL_ (Luis Fernando) is a producer of Eletronic Music from Brasília whose eclectic sound signature is

André Wittmann's debut album under the moniker Spur was made with both the body and the mind in order to indulge in an odd but somehow familiar "dance of cultures" as the young Lübeck-based Bavarian calls it himself. "I find it disturbing to see how all those fields of music are still strictly separated until this day. I'd rather see them all combined", he explains the idea behind "Nowhereland" which compiles a selection of the best cuts out of 20 to 30 compositions Spur perfected them during a month-long stay in Ghent in early 2014. On "Nowhereland", semingly odd time signatures form the backbone of what are essentially club-orientated tracks. Spur, who started playing drums as child, took to other instruments like guitar, marimba, violin and piano and whose influences range from Hip Hop to Stravinsky and Flamenco or Gamelan, approaches songwriting both theoretically and intuitively. "I aim at putting the mind and the body in motion", he sums up the idea behind the uniquely odd but somehow familiar "Nowhereland".

Fontarrian's debut effort for Berlin-based label ANTIME offers a glimpse into a fragile yet eclectic spectrum consisting of loopy vocal bits, slowly unwinding washes of dream-like ambience, distinctively (s)tumbling almost jazzy percussions and an ever-present, blissful warmth. The latter emanates from and sucks you into what seems to be a world of its own. Like a lo-fi attempt at capturing momentary twists of the heart through 10 significantly diverse tracks - imperfect nonetheless - the album feels like a mixtape you've set out to record for someone special, but somehow never got around to.

The sampler's 6 tracks reflect the varied musical influences and tastes of a circle of old friends that span from Techno, glitchy Synth/Sampling Electronica, House to classical band music, post somestep elements, Downbeat, and Experimental. Antime sees itself as a musical playground, an interactive interface between club and couch, loud nights and lazy afternoons, inside and outside, seriousness and insanity and deliberately keeps its ears open to the whole spectrum of sounds and moods that the world holds for us.
