2
marco shuttle - sing like a bird (peter van hoesen remix)
Time To Express presents its first release of 2014 with a stunning appearance by London-based Italian Marco Shuttle. Sing Like A Bird is a gorgeous, hypnotic techno anthem. Stretched out over almost 12 minutes, the track's lean groove teams up with a stunning vocal line. The listener is taken by the hand, slowly directed towards a high-flying crescendo. Peter Van Hoesen's remix takes the existing framework of the original and adds a dose of psychedelica to it. His interpretation emphasizes the trancy, hypnotic aspect of Marco's track. Several synth lines take turns twisting and shifting in and out of the mix, leading up towards a great buildup.

Marco Shuttle is very much part of the Spazio Disponibile label family: he's put out his Systhema album and various EPs with Donato Dozzy and Neel in the last couple of years, and now the Eerie boss serves up more of his immersive techno excellence. He starts off in slow motion, with the roomy ambiance and slightly spooky dub of 'Ritmo Elegante.' Of course it's a track carefully filled with little sonic details that make it a very real place to be. 'Arpex' then switches things up with a super urgent, super supple acidic techno rhythm thats overlaid with a widescreen arp that sapiens space and time, and 'Stairway To The Milky Way' is a half time stepper though some trippy sci-fi jungle before 'Qatarsi' rides on a floating groove as sound effects pan all around you and traps you in a state of trance. These are expressive, hard to define and excellent electronics once again from Marco Shuttle.

After 9 years from its first release, Marco Shuttle's hard to find eternal anthemic classic "The Vox Attitude" gets re-issued for the second time in a deluxe remix pack including both tracks of the original record (from 2011) and remixes by Atom TM, Pessimist and Marco Shuttle himself. Unlike the first remix pack that came out in 2013, and that was a single 12" with remixes by Pangaea and Joy Anderson, this second remix project will also feature the track, Spaziale, B side of the original first release. The Vox attitude which is the track that pretty much launched Marco Shuttle's international career is an anthemic metallic big room dubby techno tune, with strong sensual almost garagey vocal samples and diffuse percussions. Atom TM's rework of the track maintains quite intact many elements of the original at the beginnng, but gets progressively sprinkled with his trademark FM sounds and vocoder processed vocals very much reminiscent of his HD album on Raster Noton to end up with an epic synth line which unfolds towards the closing of the track. Marco Shuttle's "to the bone" remix is a very stripped down 4/4 grovy reinterpretation built around a what sounds like a very playful and wld Roland TR 909 live jam on top of which the single hit vocal samples of the original are layered in a way that they almost create a bassline that extends through the whole length of the track Spaziale stirs into a more dark heady territory with a haunting far reverberated bassline enriched by eerie trumpet sounding syhth parts in full effect Marco Shuttle style. Pessimist's remix is a downtempo broken track built around a heavy bass reworked version of the bassline of the original, resulting into a track in that full neo Trip Hop Bass Bristolian style the UK producer has so wonderfully executed on his releases on Blackest ever Black and his own label Pessimist Productions.

Intricate and detailed jams for your enjoyment in foggy dance floor corners. These tracks all have that unmistakable Marco Shuttle vibe with plenty of deliberate, slightly twisting melodies, shadowy disembodied echoing vocals that let your brain fill in the meaning, underpinned with punches of tautly layered rhythms.
.Marco Shuttle first caught our ear many years ago when we discovered his music the old fashioned way, picking up his Clone Store Only Series record at Halcyon in Brooklyn. This mysterious record led to becoming obsessed with his incredible, selfreleased
podcasts that were floating around online at the time so we reached out to him and ended up working together to put his Fanfara EP out on our label in 2014, when he was almost unknown in North America. Since then, his music career has grown in leaps and bounds. He’s no longer at his day job in the fashion industry but
tours and produces full-time, releasing albums on his own Eerie Records, Donato Dozzy and Neel’s Spazio Disponibile, as well as a string of killer EPs on several respected imprints. His productions and DJ skills have led to repeat bookings at Labyrinth Festival,
Berghain, Concrete, Fabric, De School and just about everywhere else around the world where discerning heads congregate to hear great techno.
When Marco was in Brooklyn to play an 8 hour set at The Bunker Limited earlier this year he played some new demos that stuck out as something exceptional, even by his very high standards, and we knew we had his next record on The Bunker New York ready to go. More

Next up on Donato Dozzy and Neel's Spazio Disponibile label is close friend and Italian producer Marco Shuttle. The Eerie label-boss is a regular on the label having put out his Systema album here last year, as well as his Flauto Synthetico EP in 2016. His always meticulously crafted sound is rooted in dark, cavernous techno. He finds plenty of new ground in each new release, though, with some tracks being haunting ambient works and others more propulsive rhythms. This new EP features just that across four typically inventive and absorbing tracks that are as much for your head as they are for your heel.

The 12th chapter on Eerie Records is a 2 tracker by label owner Marco Shuttle himself. With the return to a more groovy and floor-friendly take than the abstract sound of his recently released LP the release maintains nonetheless the classic signiture deep landscapy approach the artist has made us used to with his production. Tribal rhythmics, 808 grooves, underlayed pads and some slightly middle eastern reminiscent sonic elements make it for a record that although still on the leffield side, is 100% techno. Anyone who loved Sing Like a bird will probably find this one very appealing. A very classic Marco Shuttle one indeed!

Italian label Spazio Disponibile continues its fine run of form with a new EP that features four collaborative tracks by the bosses Voices From The Lake (aka Donato Dozzy and Neel) versus Semantica boss Svreca. The EP is a result of their first studio session all together in Rome. All three have been perfecting cinematic ambient techno for years now and have the cerebral, atmospheric aesthetic down to a tee. Here they offer up proof across a series of hypnotic tracks that take you deep into your own mind. It's alien and abstract yet wholly consuming and will zone you out in no time.

Marco Shuttle releasing his first solo album 'Visione' on his Eerie label. Having since released on Clone, The Bunker and Time To Express, this year has seen Shuttle hard at work at his first entry into the LP format. The resulting album marks a more experimental Marco Shuttle than the one familiar from his singles. 'Visione' is a cohesive and compact work, which draws on Shuttle's design background to unfold an audio narrative with a strong aesthetic approach. With a more abstract sound than his club-focused records, 'Visione' retains a cinematic scope while maintaining a common texture of sound throughout the tracks: the detailed productions were created with mainly analogue equipment with meticulously modulated oscillators, creating tracks that are by turns psychedelic, cosmic and sinister. Opening track The Chaos... And Then... features a guest appearance from Donato Dozzy, with whom Shuttle recently unveiled the collaborative project Anxur, with a separate EP from the duo preceding the album on Eerie. That track aside, this is very much a personal statement from Shuttle who drew inspiration from Krautrock, 70's psychedelic electronica, musique concrete, and norwegian avant garde jazz to mention a few. The release (2 x 12'- 180gms) comes in a lush package/cover design...very collectable indeed!

Second installment on Marco Shuttle's EERIE is again a 2 tracker by himself. Sticking to the deep cinematic hypnotic signature sound that has trademarked all his work so far, the London based Italian producer delivers 2 long journeys of deep, dubby, Detroit flavoured EDM. Both tracks have a subtle progression, building up gently from an intro initial part to a more "dramatic" core through very subtly arranged and modulated layers of sounds and subliminal melodic elements. Hot!

After the well received Clone s.o.s. ''all around the fires'' ep and his big selling VIDD 001, Marco Shuttle starts an adventure with his very own Eerie records label. First trip is a great 3 track ep in Marco's signature sound. Deep, super deep acid & 808 driven grooves and dark dubby reverbed drums and dramatic strings. Phat tracks that sometimes remind of early Aphex Twin works on the selected ambient works and surfing on Sinewaves... but then the Marco Shuttle way. Dont sleep on this one! Recommended.

Hybrid techno tracks full of tension on Time To Express number 30, presented by label founder Peter Van Hoesen. The Belgian producer takes up the opportunity to expand upon his previous work on the Coast To Coast EP. No longer exclusively restricted to straight 4/4 rhythms, Van Hoesen's music investigates hybrid, broken grooves infused with a clear sense of spatial sonic awareness. This is made clear with the first two tracks, Towards Manifestation and Fox Tactics. On the second half of the EP Van Hoesen launches two solid techno cuts, shifting from dense bassline work (Concrete Varition) to percussive, shuffling grooves (Fox Tactics). As with all previous Time To Express outings a specific I'Ching hexagram was chosen to accompany this release. Hexagram #10 ('Treading upon the tail of the tiger') refers to advancement with care and ways of respectful progress. The title of the EP is a direct reference to the first line of this intriguing hexagram. Nine At The Beginning will be released on vinyl and digital formats on October 23rd 2017. A specially designed t-shirt will be made available at the same time, interpreting Hexagram #10 through its design.

peter van hoesen - EMPIRE IN DECLINE - 2017 DUB
Coast To Coast vividly presents the many faces of Belgian producer and dj Peter Van Hoesen. Example in case: the title track is a no-holds-barred epic synthesizer composition, recorded at the producer's Handwerk Audio synthesizer studios. Van Hoesen's love for widescreen synthesis comes clearly to the fore on this track. It is a beautiful showcase of how techno can be emotive, driving and muscular, all at the same time. Entrance To Entropic City takes a different path, opting for a much more abstract narrative. Shunning away from the dancefloor, it chooses to hint at concepts hidden below its sonic surface. Voodoo Benny's Wishbone takes the listener deep into hypnotic and percussive breakbeat territory. Menacing synth sweeps coil around the drums while a polyrhythmic groove shows off its tension, six minutes long. Finally, in Empire In Decline - 2017 Dub Van Hoesen reworks his 2008 classic. Shuffling breakbeats form a new base for Empire's bouncing synth lead.

It features four new tracks, composed and refined in the producer's Berlin studio and properly tested during several shows in late 2016 and early 2017. Both Oscar's Blood and Circumference 12 feature Van Hoesen's take on driving and hypnotic techno. He applies a different approach to Unit Prep and Theoretical Terminal. Both compositions take their cue from subtle yet vibrant percussive patterns, extending into blissful atmospheres.

The same philosophy is carried across: it marries Peter's music with the sounds he is influenced by. The result is a powerful selection of vibrant techno, with a warm, almost spiritual, feel to it. Chris Madak (aka Bee Mask) epitomizes the dissolution of distinctions between music for the mind and the body. His stunning live performance of 'Headband' at the 2014 Labyrinth festival left Van Hoesen dazed and enthralled. This was the origin of the remix found here, which perfectly conveys the themes of 'Stealth'. The remix is complemented by one of Van Hoesen's own productions, the epic 'Breach'.

Sendai is the collaborative project by Yves De Mey and Peter Van Hoesen. Both artists are longtime friends and share a deep passion for exploring the outer limits of the electronic music spectrum. Sendai combines De Mey's skillful extraction of deep and dynamic sounds from his modular synthesizer system with Van Hoesen's keen sense of digital composition and sound design. After two 12'' releases for Time To Express in 2009 the duo took some time out to reflect on their joint musical path. The result is 'Geotope', a no-compromise experimental album that sees the duo moving away from the dancefloor into an altogether more varied and daring sonic domain. The album shows a clear sensibility for stripping things down to their bare essentials. It is the result of a road travelled together without any compromise. In essence Geotope combines both artists' influences and experience into a dynamic, ever-evolving sonic environment.

Time 2 Express is on a roll! Sqeezing out harsh yet hypnotic techno of the highest order. The 4th instalment in the 61 Center Returning series is an all Belgo-Italian affair. As on Vol. 3 the A side is taken up by Peter Van Hoesen and Donato Dozzy. With 'Dock' they present a dense, psychedelic track: bubbling percussion works its way through swirls of oscillating soundscapes. 'Dock' envelops the listener in a thick, gentle blanket, slowly increasing the pressure as the track unfolds over 9 minutes. On the B-side Stroboscopic Artefacts main brain Lucy reports for remix duty. 'Defense Against The Self' was originally released on Peter Van Hoesen's 'Entropic City' album. Lucy provides the track with a solid dose of steroïds, injecting cavernous kicks and bleeps. His version widens the impact of the original, while adding his very own personal take on techno. Viva Italia...
