Bok & Trago are back with another 12" of deeply textured, hypnotic House music. This time taking a melodic approach on the A-side main mix of "Need This", the London-Amsterdam duo borrow and flips motifs from a classic. "Need This (Radio Mix)" is a piece of slow-burning deep-tech, helicopter blade arps hovering over epic FM bassline and churning percussive guts. A well-deserved melodic reveal at 4 minutes gives way to plenty of weightless beats to keep DJs busy on the loop button - blending perfection ensured. On the flip, the 12" mix strips out the melodies and turns up the percussive heat. The results are a sweltering dub strictly for the dancers, a meandering trip through the jungle, flanged helicopters drawing closer.

Trago of Voyage Direct and Bok of Night Slugs join forces once again for another NV transmission. As usual, rhythm rules as the duo construct powerful DJ tools out of raw organic elements, this time paying tribute to their beloved House skools of NYC and Chicago. These tracks might reference the past, however their direction is definitely forward-facing. On the A-side, "Pussy Trak" runs a classic Junior Vasquez sample forwards, backwards, over and into itself as tough analog drums and giant kick pump the track. DJ tools don't come much bigger than this! On the flip, "Silent G Safari" rides out a straight up gutter house jam, with rubbery bassline, pulverising 707 rhythm section and juicy over-saturated production DJs and tape lovers will die for.

Night Voyage Tool Kit is the collaborative project of two like-minded producers, Night Slugs' Bok Bok and Tom Trago, curator of the Rush Hour label's Voyage Direct series. Originally commissioned by Sound Pellegrino label boss Teki Latex, this is the result of four intense days and nights in Tom's Amsterdam studio, surrounded by hardware and enshrouded in a thick haze. Having pursued very different directions in their respective solo work, the duo find common ground in minimalism, DJ tools, the Neptunes and ghetto house. The result is a collection of stripped down rhythm tracks aimed straight for the club: the arpeggiator workout of "Pathfinder", "Vector"'s cosmic jeep bass, "Pom Clash" and its grimey Lil Louis tribute, and the acid epic "Lil Ma Bonus Beat".
