Following on from introducing the world to Auntie Flo, SOPHIE and Alejandro Paz, Glasgow raised and London-based party outfit Huntleys + Palmers returns with a slew of new bangers this winter. First up, Argentinian duo DJs Pareja, who are best known for their work on the Comeme label, deliver a pair of dancefloor destroyers. If lead track Steps doesn't get you dancing, nothing will. With one step in South African kwaito, the other in UK Funky. On the flip, La Risa takes a different form in the shape of a odd-ball house belter.

DJs Pareja - the After
The DJs Pareja have been flagging they’re a DJ duo in love long before the recent trend. ‘Pareja’ literally translates as ‘couple’, and that is just how Diego and Mariano do life; in tandem. It may not seem so radical these days, but the Pareja’s have been unapologetically queer trailblazers in their hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina - throwing raves and putting out pop dance records for decades. It took us years to get these boys to come play for us in San Francisco, but when they finally did, minutes off the plane we were hugging and shedding a little tear in front of the Castro theatre sign. I always knew that one day we would get them on the label, and this EP is a product of how far this new gay techno underground has come. So it is with great pleasure we present 4 tracks produced south of the Equator, mixed for the gods, with some signature vocals and some sounds we’ve never heard from these Argy boys sleeping in a Queen bed.

From the realms of Buenos Aires’ legendary and undocumented nightlife comes a new EP by DJs Pareja - who have been generously introducing us to their nocturnal dancefloor visions since the very beginning of Cómeme, shaping not only the label’s sound and message but also influencing heavily the modern takes on Techno in Latin America. Here’s their EP “Alto” literally meaning “High”, and this is where it’s supposed to take you and surely will.

Ever since hearing Pete Tong announce ‘Chica Wappa’ as his Essential New Tune back in 2004, we’ve been following the bold Alex Smoke on his musical journey. Coming from Glasgow, we’ve shared a lot of common influences - both from within and outside of the city and we have Alex to thank for introducing and strengthening our love for the likes of Villalobos, Rhythm & Sound, Carl Craig and Actress, amongst others. Although he was a familiar face on the ‘minimal’ scene, he always operated on his own terms and that’s a throughline we’ve admired throughout his career. Not only is he comfortable releasing techno on Soma and R&S, he’s produced for ballet, films and even the NHS. Over the years, Alex has played at a few seminal parties for us; alongside the likes of Oni Ayhun, James Holden, Helena Hauff and Veronica Vasicka. So we were delighted to be approached by him to work on a record together and it’s been really exciting to hear it evolve over time. It would be arrogant to compare it to Thom Yorke’s - The Eraser, but it certainly occupies a similar world in our mind. To still be producing innovative and inspiring albums 15 years into a career is no mean feat in this age and it’s a great honour to welcome such a musical hero on to the label. As with the last Auntie Flo album, we’re also lining up a very special remix package with a swarm of our favourite producers of the moment and we can’t wait to share them with you too over the course of the year.

Now for something entirely different.. Peter Scion has been a bit of a pet project we've been working on for the past two years. After hearing this strange synth-folk music on an Cold Wave mix, by French DJ Clement Meyer for our site, we carried out a bit of detective work and finally tracked down the creator to Borås in rural Sweden. To cut a long story short, having turned up at his door almost 15 years after this music was made, we are very happy to present Peter's first proper release - besides a few CDR's distributed in his homeland at the time - his music is finally available to a wider audience. The vinyl release includes an exclusive insert designed by Anna Kraay, which details the full story into how we discovered Peter - and what that felt like for him to be 'discovered' many years later.

Petwo Evans return with another stonking release! This time around, they've went pretty melodic on us - not that we're complaining.. Something for everyone here with a belting peak time title track - first heard on the most recent Auntie Flo Boiler Room - alongside some really beautiful moments; which you may have heard opening our Truants and Electronic Exploration mixes in recent times, to form one of our most unusually brilliant releases ye

Having established a reputation for discovering new talent, it's not often that we get to collaborate with other artists and labels. Chapter 2 allows us the opportunity to reach beyond our own circle of emerging artists and work with exclusive material from others who have been getting us very excited recently. As with Chapter 1, you will find no B-sides here! Optimo Music's Golden Teacher is the best band to come from Glasgow in years! We've played host to their outstanding live shows on several occasions and continue to be impressed by their ability to weave their influences to form a unique sound of their own. Usio's debut album last year on the stupendous Studio Barnhus label will remain a classic for many years to come. Made up of beautifully varied and consistent compositions, they have more on the way. We suggest keeping a watchful eye on them. Linking us not only with the excellent Themes For Great Cities, but also our home from home, Salon des Amateurs in Dusseldorf, is resident Jan Shulte who presents probably our funkiest record yet under his Wolf Müller alias. We enjoyed a particularly great year in Glasgow when the talented Oklo Gabon also lived there. Now back in his native Gothenburg, we were recently happy to discover that he's been proactive in the studio. Sometimes associated with the Discos Capablanca label, we're sure there will be more on the way under various new guises. It's no secret that Cómeme are a source of inspiration around these parts. Sano is just one of many great artists who form the label and we're really chuffed to be able to include this demented delight which we first heard back on a Lena Willikens mix a few years ago. Whilst the artists themselves are incredible, this release pays tribute to the labels they are typically found on and we suggest doing some more research if you like what you hear.

Like all great music, it's often difficult to explain what it sounds like or convey the excitement you experience upon first hearing. Wrong Steps falls into this category exactly. Describing his music as 'melodic house' wouldn't do the intricacies and depths on display justice. Instead, it might be easier to liken him to artists such as Floating Points, Metro Area and Portable - and we don't use those comparisons lightly! Big boots to fill of course, but this is a very promising debut from a very promising debutante. Watch this space for more.

A unique piece of work by another new project, this time by some industry veterans. Petwo Evans features live drumming accompanying some dinky electronic magic. Each track differs in pace and style, sharing similar idiosyncratic qualities as Swim-era Caribou, Shackleton and maybe a hint of Border Community in there too? Great, in other words.

Without further ado, H+P would like to impress you with No Eres Tu. Some of you may remember Mamacita's guest appearance on Auntie Flo's Future Rhythm Machine? Here we proudly present her debut release. We've sat on this record for so long that we've often forgotten how great it actually is! Amazing 80's Chicago house via Santiago, Chile. One of the summer. We were concerned about anyone touching the flawless original, but Argentinian, Ana Helder delivers a blinding job, at once retaining the best qualities of the OG, whilst making it her own. With apologies for depriving you until now, ladies and gents, we present...Mamacita

We continue our run of introducing new and emerging talent from different corners of the globe, with a 4-track EP of absolute belters. No B-sides here! The release features one of the craziest, certainly our most banging record to date by Carisma, our deepest record courtesy of Prophets of the South and somewhere in between, two bonafide nailers from Cruffy and rRoxymore. Like many of our favourite records, 'Subculture' by Glaswegian upstart Cruffy, is a strange and difficult one to categorise, it's an interesting concoction of melodic house with a clattering kick. 'Pamela Two' sees the return of Argentinian duo Carisma, who appeared on our last release remixing DJs Pareja. Coming into their own with the pummelling Pamela Two, which is primed to terrorise dancefloors. One for the techno heads. The incredibly talented rRoxymore first played for us about a year ago as suggested by Oni Ayhun and we've been very thankful for the introduction ever since. Her live set is something to behold with 'Ministry of Silly Talks' being one of many highlights, expect to hear a lot more from her this year. We're also delighted to welcome long-standing H+P crew member, Esa for his first release on the label under (along with Ali Ooft) his Prophets of the South alias. Offering a deep Afro house vibe like no other. Something for everyone, we're sure you'll agree.

Continuing the trend of spotting new talent, promoters Huntleys + Palmers is back in business with a big release from the talented Londoner, DrumTalk. Like his label counterparts, Auntie Flo, SOPHIE and Alejandro Paz, 'Time' is a track set to be popular across the board. Our limited focus group who roadtested this winter came back with positive results: James Holden played it TWICE in his recent Panorama Bar set and Jackmaster featured it on both his Boiler Room and Mastermix. Not a bad start. From East London / Berlin basements to the shores of Croatia and Ibiza, expect to hear this everywhere.

Thanks to those who've supported Auntie Flo and the first two sell out releases. Next up, we'd like to introduce you to the next release from our Chilean amigo, and provider of the finest modern Latin jack grooves, Alejandro Paz. We first came across Alejandro's mighty Callejero via a mix from his Cómeme chum, Diegors. Callejero's infectious hook stuck in our heads for days on end and after getting in touch, the talented Mr Paz happened to be sitting on a wealth of fresh sounding material which owes as much to House music from the streets of Chicago and South Africa's townships as it does his Latin roots. Callejero opens with a devastating drum work out before giving way to the aforementioned catchy hook: It hasn't been billed as this years Township Funk for nothing. ?As the title suggests, the equally as contagious Cumbia A Lo Lejos is a lesson in Latin rhythms set to warm your cockles. With early support from Ivan Smagghe, Matias Aguayo, Joakim, Optimo (Espacio), Sinden and Auntie Flo amongst others.
