For the final installment of the esteemed Discotheque Wreckers series Psychemagik shine light on an other realm of crate digging with two choice edits. 'Balearic Girl' taken from a super rare Swedish hairspray advert, drops a heavy Haribo bassline with the sweetest summery vocal hook that combines dreamy beach vibes with deep dancefloor power. The flip 'Spiced Oddity' is a synth laden cosmic chugger that rounds off this series perfectly. Look out for a cd album to follow with two more exclusive tracks due late summer.

Psychemagik - Valley Of Paradise (Bushwacka Remix)
The next remix installment from Psychemagik’s LP, “I Feel How This Night Should Look”, comes from longtime mates and sonic colleagues, Warehouse Preservation Society, and esteemed dancefloor cornerstone, Bushwacka. W.P.S., the mutant duo from Los Angeles, have cropped up remixes and originals with reckless abandon these past years, and here, transform the Psychemagik source material into a breakbeat-infused act of nuclear fission, striking out the gate with heavy rhythms that meltdown into a steady hypnotic groove, all accompanied by dubbed vocal stabs and poignant arpeggios. Bushwacka's remix of Valley Of Paradise has echoes of some of his earlier signature works. Centered breaks and floating pads guide through his cosmic rendition, whilst still retaining a strong melodic anchor from the original track, and glued together with a thick bouncing bassline - a trip for sure!

Psychemagik - Triumph Of The Gods (Richard Norris Remix)
Psychemagik are the renowned duo of Daniel McLewin and Thomas Coveney hailing from the UK, best known for their carefully crafted DJ sets and distinctive edits. In 2019 they released their long lost LP ‘I Feel How This Night Should Look’ featuring for the most part a collection of unreleased material written and recorded over a decade ago. Two of the tracks had made it out ahead of the album with a life of their own; a self released EP that featured ‘Above the Clouds’ and the 10th Anniversary of Phonica which included ‘Triumph of the Gods’. Here Psychemagik revisit the latter with brand new remixes from Prins Thomas and Richard Norris. Thomas stays true to form with a percussive, glacial take that vibrates around the existing arrangement composed by Richard Chester at the infamous Air Studios. Whilst Norris ups the psychedelia pulling on Renate Staal Nygard’s stunningly melodic vocal accompaniment.

Previously spotted remixing the bossmen Catz ‘n Dogz’ 2016 single ‘Nobody Cares’ on the label, Psychemagik’s ‘Rattlesnake’ is the duo’s debut Pets single and it lives up to its deadly name. Sliding into the dance with all the stealth and funk venom its name suggests; the bite comes midway as the fatal secondary bassline kicks in with a Cobra Kai finishing move that will leave your dancefloor out for the count.
It’s loaded with two equally lethal remixes as the label welcome two more debuts from pit vipers old and new; Magda bites hard with a poisonous futuristic funk roll-out while Vyvyan continue their anonymous attack with a fantastic cosmic twist and a build up that rattles like a whole army of Crotalus.
Terminal treatments slithering in all directions. Whichever viperous version you choose to wrestle with, the results remain the same; once bitten your dancefloor will indeed lose all control of their bodies… If slept on, seek medical help. More

psychemagik - Sisters Of The Moon
Those wizards of digging Psychemagik doing the business once again. Hot on the heels of last year's monstrous 'Gotta hold on me / Wildman' they're letting folks know that they were still out there searching in the darkest recesses of the last 40+ years of popular and unpopular music, and boy oh boy are they good at it! 'The Trip' lives up to it's name. The track kicks off with some ultra beefed up psychedelic shenanigans, swirling, cacophonous sounds whirl and sweep and gradually drag us into the holographic tunnel, gradually giving way to some heavyweight drums and percussions and unfurling into a muscular psych-discoid beast. This one will send the kids crazy and will undoubtedly cause some damage in the club, both sonically and mentally. 'But what is the original?' we hear you say... answers on a postcard please. 'Sisters of the moon' on the flip-side is a very different animal - All laid back, laconic steel-guitars and thundering slo-mo drums and percussion. The dark side of a rural witchcraft dream exposed here, almost menacing... and then? Those vocals spring out of the mix amidst the throbbing sexually charged atmosphere and drag us back into the realm of 'near reality' with sultry moans and groans. This one's woozy alright, but in the best possible way. So wrong, it's right and possibly the natural soundtrack to too many of those strange shots that that guy in the weird hat gave us earlier when we entered that country pub. 'What guy?' I hear you ask.... Ultimate freak-disco and deepest druid Funk for the discerning and psychedelically inclined record consumer.
