The past year for Laurence Blake aka Citizen has been an ever-evolving rise to fame, with material on Kerri Chandler's MadTech and MadHouse imprints, as well as highly praised singles for Love Fever and W&O Street Tracks. Here Laurence pushes on for what's set to be another amazing year for the artist, with a single for 2020Vision, joining the likes of Audiojack, FCL, Huxley, Crazy P and Motor City Drum Ensemble on the roster. Opening the single is the punchy infectious sounds of 'U Don't Know', a stunning classic meets contemporary cut built around rock-sturdy rhythms, a classic Hammond organ hook-line and heavily reverberated vocal murmurs. While earth-shattering, rumbling subs build a profound depth, and delicate processing such as expansive reverb tails and dubby echoes allow the composition to subtly blossom as thing progress, kicking things off in style. Following is 'As One' which stays on a similar house focused tip with swinging, bouncy beats, hypnotic female vocal snippets and a cosseting pad melody. The track steadily builds throughout its six-minute duration, with Citizen gradually working in additional elements such as percussive hits, sax licks and vocal snippets, again creating a very dynamic record which never seems to ease up, forever driving the energy and fuelling its dance floor appeal. Then last up to close the single we have title track 'Climax', Citizen strips back the drum programming to a more refined feel this time, with a bumpy tom-driven bass-line, ethereal atmospherics and a raw, stabby chord hook. While penetrating subs and Blake's signature vocal manipulation adds the unique charm to things that makes his singles stand out above the rest, rounding off what's set to be another stellar single for the 2020Vision imprint and this undeniable talent!

From sex fuelled soirees to taste making record label, the Love Fever affair continues to be London’s go to establishment for high quality underground sounds. After big releases in 2012 from Bicep and Citizen (both featuring in several end of year charts), the label once again calls on the talent of family member Citizen. The 3-track ‘Trax EP’ opens up with ‘Everything’, an ethereal excursion that shows the development in citizens sound. Deeper and darker with a clear tribute to early 90s rave, it´s main room yet with a melancholic air that creeps up on you. ‘Worship & Tribute (Your Love)’, a slick garage track and most upfront of the release is a peak time banger. With some old school piano chords and an infectious vocal hook this one is sure to be a power play in London´s underground scene. Lastly ´Glastique´, continuing on from last years Room Service, builds gradually around layers of expertly arranged synth work and bass guitar riffs until swinging highs and echoed vocals drive the track to an epic and atmospheric climax.

Hot off the back of a single on Moda Black, and a remix of Romanthony on Glasgow Underground. British duo Mia Dora, drop 'You In The Future' via Kerri Chandler's MadTech imprint this November. Title track 'You In The Future' kicks things off, seeing the duo embrace a rawer, more upfront focus in comparison to previous singles. Smoothly shuffled drums lead the way, while cosseting Rhodes, a bumpy, sub-driven bass-line and a classic organ hook build the melodic movement. Things intricately evolve throughout the tracks seven-minute duration, with baroque changes in the structure, and additional elements such as a hypnotic acid line, keeping things intriguing and evolving dynamically as the record blooms. Following is 'After The Dog', the duo again opt for a rough and rugged feel with the drums, while an insistent rounded sub bass drives the groove, and consistently varied classic chord stabs fuel its energy levels. Drawn out reversed sweeps then build tension alongside sporadic percussive rolls, to create a profound impact when reverting back to the sturdy foundations. To close the release Mia Dora offer up an 'Extended Edit' of 'You In The Future', doing exactly as it says on the tin and drawing out the infectious groove for extended mixing pleasure.

Lakosa & iO are third to grace the MadTech roster with their dancefloor banger Home Early, which features remixes by West Norwood Cassette Library and the 17 year old exceptionally talented experimental grime producer Pedro 123. Home Early is a punchy house track weighted by bass and marching with the suave speed of 4/4 house. Its sultry vocals and samples tease the determined beat that drops in and out developing a bold breakdown. The track sits nicely between house and UK bass, giving it the flexibility to sit within an array of styles in future sets and mixes. West Norwood Cassette Library's remix gives the original a disco tinge with the use of strings and vintage sounding samples. The vocal is scrunched and ricochets neatly off the carefully placed beats and samples. The Pedro 123 remix gives the original a smack of grime and a refreshing sound. Pedro stretches the vocal into a smooth echo that drifts over the top of his clipped punching bass line. A grime-tinged wobble and a bassy beat resonates beneath Pedro?s impeccable percussive production.
