Phuture Shock Musik have the special honour to present the latest release by bass music pioneer - Colin Lindo aka Nubian Mindz. A certified veteran in the game, with a sizeable back catalog that spans releases for seminal labels such as 2000Black, Delsin, Rush Hour, and Archive, not to mention some groundbreaking efforts on 4hero's trailblazing Reinforced label where it all began for the producer under the moniker Alpha Omega.
Following an indefinite hiatus from the industry , Nubian Mindz is back with a vengeance with the striking results of 'TV Watches You' EP that further cements his legendary status as one of the most forward thinking craftsmen of next level electronic music, whose innovative vision and genre defying approach towards production goes hand in hand with the diverse cross-genre agenda of Phuture Shock. Lead track 'Dutty Beach' hits hard from the outset, a broken ragga-tech romp made up of raw neck snapping snares, juggernaut kicks and uncompromising thuggish bass, all fittingly set to a post-apocalyptic backdrop. The para-technoid stomp of 'TV Watches You' follows, where a menacing bassline grinds its way through the dystopian chaos of swirly sci-fi synths and manic delayed snares. While the standalone B-side 'Many Poly' sees the bass advocator momentarily channel into his early game-changing D&B roots to cook up a futuristic proto-junglist style roller like nothing ever heard before. London-born producer Colin Lindo aka Nubian Mindz is not your average predictable artist. You know his stuff's gonna be good, but there's a solid chance you'll be surprised with a thing or two in every track. Similar approach applies here. Generally speaking, the music is deep and rich, yet very direct and club ready, but with plenty of those unpredictable moments which made us go crazy for these tracks in the first place. A1 - "Aqua Lifeforms" is perhaps the least intense cut on the record, a sort of a slow grower which builds up momentum by layering sounds and pads. A2 - "Body Mover" is exactly what the title tells you. Crunchy peak time tune for the dance floor, with shuffling broken beats wrapping around deep chords that hint what's happening on the flip side. B1 - "Doorway To Her" is a nod to the classic deep techno chord-ish approach. Well, sort of. The song lets you think that until the first curveball just before the half of the track. After that, it's just deeper than deep. B2 - "Pulsing Hearts" is another well-crafted dance floor cut. The track moves from deep meditative vibe to subtle acid tripping, just to be finished with a proper bass workout. Overall, we couldn't think of a better way to mark the 10th Barba release.

Simon/off steps up to the plate with his second EP for Phuture Shock Musik entitled ‘Molecules’ EP - a fitting sequel to 2011’s similarly themed 'Planetary Communication' EP. Since dropping that last 12” on the Bristol-based imprint, the Austrian bass don has kept himself busy honing the sound of his intelligent take on bass music, most recently demonstrated via remixes for upcoming Mexican producers Mama Testa and Thark, as well as taking time to offer up fresh material on his co-owned Disko404 label; including the warmly received 'Take It Back' EP and introducing the junglist-laden footwork experiments of new side project - Sun People. ‘Molecules’ EP finds Simon/off continuing his current dalliance with 4/4 tempos and versatile broken rhythms, whilst furtherpushing the envelope within the far-reaching ‘Bass music’ sub-genre,absorbing inspiration from the future-minded output of legendary D&B institutions such as Reinforced and Metalheadz, right through to 90’s Detroit en route the fertile grounds of Bristol.

Next up for Phuture Shock Musik is the debut 12" from new signing – Appian, a young upcoming producer, hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan. 'Endomusia' EP is the result of Appian’s versatile production that especially embraces the rich musical heritage of Detroit, coming as no surprise given the close proximity between the producer’s Midwestern hometown and the celebrated birthplace of techno. The EP covers all bases from deep house to soulful downtempo; to present a sophisticated melting pot of sounds that welcomes an incredible new talent to keep an eye on, and marks Phuture Shock’s most diverse release to date. Opening cut 'Slow Jam' sets the tone on a Balearic slo-mo house vibe, building up with tight rhythmical beats and a hypnotic vocal refrain that glides through textured dreamy pads. 'Perception' is a beatdown number, driven by deep progressive chord changes, frantic hi-hats and scattered snares, revealing the inextricable ties to the Motor City. The more eclectic flipside roams the mid-tempo angle, focusing on funky off kilter beats, and cosmic grooves in the form of 'Pac man' and 'Floating' that coherently absorbs the hi-tech swagger of Detroit hip hop, with the wonky stylings of the LA beat scene, until lastly making way for the deep intergalactic bounce of the finale 'Journey'

Having both previously released on Phuture Shock Musik, garage experimentalist's Roof Light and Lostlojic return to share the honours on a split single set for release on the Bristol label. Always one to maintain an eclectic approach in his work, Surrey resident Roof Light returns to his forward-thinking best, offering up 'Pearl' a sultry number, where jerky beats intertwine with fragmentations of female vox that saunter through swathes of synth pads, glitchy blips, and warm dubby bass. On the flip Lostlojic continues the regular theme of passion in his music, bouncing back with 'So Much', another R&B inflected dancefloor gem, incorporating a saccharine vocal hook over a bed of lush rhodes chords. Soulful as ever, and riding a 4/4 rhythmn just beyond the familiar 140bpm region, this tune premieres a departure from the typically cold, brooding style that the Ukraine based producer is known for, to something more suited for the warm summer nights.

Phuture Shock Musik present their 5th release, this time procuring the reliable talent of one of the most slept on producers in the world of Bass music - that is Simon/off. Those in the know will be aware that the Austrian native has been simmering in the underground for quite some time now, having laid the groundwork through early releases on Haunted Audio, a noteworthy EP for Immerse Records, and further contributions to several other smaller labels. This latest plate by the name of 'Planetary Communication' EP finds Simon/off leaning more towards his Techno and Broken Beat side, which has of late began to flourish in his recent productions, and consists of three well crafted Afro-Tech riddims oozing weighty low-end frequencies, funky drum work and finely detailed percussion. Widespread support on Sub FM, and increasing support from several other major players in the underground bass scene.

Mr. Mageeka makes a welcome return in the wake of 'Different Lekstrix'', the mutated funky banger that caused straight up mayhem on many dancefloors the world over, upon its release via Numbers last year. The much-anticipated follow up, penned for release on Phuture Shock Musik, comes in the shape of 'Vintage Malarkey?, which sees the East-Londoner offer further next level shenanigans. Employing a similar formula as its predecessor, this one is stripped down and quintessentially hypnotic - instantly luring you in with a looped "God Made Me Funky" - esque groove, over a brisk swinging rythm, whilst occasionally throwing you off-guard through the introduction of angular synths and offbeat claps, as well as an inspired collage of samples that maintains the quirky nature of the production throughout. The single comes backed with 'De Congo' , a funky conga-laden number; that's enhanced by an addictive fusion of West African guitar licks, kalimba stabs and frisky percussion, though the real icing on the cake being its meandering trumpet hook, altogether coming off like a live High-life jam. Early support from the likes of Rinse FM's Scratcha and Marcus Nasty.

Needing little introduction, London based producer Roof Light has been making big waves on the underground Garage/Post-Dubstep scene since his groundbreaking debut 'In Your Hands' EP for Styrax some 21 months ago. Since then his resume has somewhat multiplied, with a string of releases on esteemed labels such as Millions of Moments, Prolific, L2S, and Highpoint Lowlife to name a few. Continuing on with this impressive run, Roof Light is poised to drop the fittingly titled 'On The Third' EP for Phuture Shock Musik this summer. Much like his previous offerings, this collection displays the incredibly multi-faceted sound of the maverick beat-smith. The titular track kicks things off on a jackin' 4x4 UKG flex, boasting disco elements and an infectious bassline that will have you grooving in no time. 'City Gear' literally switches gears tempo-wise with ever so crispy 2-step beats, meticulous vox chops, and a flurry of celestial soundcscapes, making for an uplifting slice of (dare we call it) "Future Garage". While 'Powder' treads closer down the path of Detroit, propelled by funky rolling breakbeats, amongst deep pads and swirling synth melodies that cleanse the mind, body and soul. Simply an essential purchase for fans of the producer.
