Next up on Hypercolour?s tidy vinyl off shoot is Berlin based but Chicago and Detroit indebted producer Murphy Jax. Through releases on Clone Jack For Daze and Tiga?s Turbo, Jax has laid out his classically minded house vision in style - something he does again with two originals and two remixes on this Hype debut. A1 ?Acid Rapper? is exactly that ? a man raps in the style of old school heroes Jungle Wonz whilst an acid line blips away beneath, scurry in and out of splintered and woody beats and pinging perc. Soft pads emanate from its core throughout to nicely offset the rawness of the claps and the whole thing will have you dancing like it?s 1989. ?The Acid Housekeeper? is not so in your face at first, and instead a simple bassline is the main feature of a track on which Jax raps with a retro tinge once again. The 303 lines come in phases rather than continually on this one, with some big claps and smooth hi-hats all seeping in, gradually upping the anti until you?re in the midst of another busy dancefloor workout straight from a warehouse party in Illinois you never even went to. Jax provides us with his own remix, and an edit from Dsb accompanies ?The Acid Housekeeper? to complete the package: first, the deep Detroit mix sounds like its being recorded at the other side of the room instead of loud in the mix. The vocal here is more menacing, and the acid line, too, is more intense, where the Dsb mix very much fits in with the current slo-mo, murky deep house aesthetic. It?s littered with weird sounds, snatched vocal yelps and is a delightfully muddled, unordered affair. Vocals in dance music are notoriously hard, but Jax makes them work and then some?

Lux Rec continue their endless research at the margins of music, what is underground, at every latitude, to find rough gems and bring them to light. In January 2012 CCO played a stunning and completely live & analog set at Zukunft, one of the best clubs in Zurich. Lux Rec asked him to reenact the set and record it once again, live...75 copies only! The result is an electronic music suite, filled with 808 and 707 beats, 303 acid lines and spatial sounds. It was magic to see CCO at work, as no computer was used in the process every pattern specs had to be written down on paper, and machines programmed on the fly. Following the vinyl EP previously released on Lux Rec, which contained revised excerpts taken from same liveset, this CD includes the entire piece.

t?s hard to believe that Meschi only released his first record at the start of 2011. Since then he?s been refining his sound by putting out a series of records that take in a large and varied breadth of house music. But no-where else has Meschi?s sound been more ground-breaking than with his new E.P, ?Light Wave Theory?. The record opens with ?Origins?, and the record hits the ground running with an obese bass-line dipping through a sparse rhythm. This is a deeply touching jack-attack, infused with stripped-down, cold-wave hysterics and touched by that very distinct Meschi charm. Science-fiction synth-lines smash through a rugged beat, wailing at you with such force that you can?t help but take notice.
?Cosmos? marks a return to more recognisable Meschi territory, as he draws his listener into the deepest depths of house music. The track pulls you into a dream-world where time stands still, giving you the chance to take in the structure, the sounds and the esoteric feeling from one of Meschi?s most outstanding pieces of deep music. We close the E.P with another ?deeper-than-deep? masterpiece, ?Theory?. This track is very much an aquatic exploration of his sound, the whole rhythm shifting in waves, perpetuated by startling open hi?s and rolling snares. Of all the tracks on the E.P ?Theory? is by far the most ?Meschi?, but it marks the pinnacle of a sound he has been developing over years. It perfectly encapsulates all the work he has released to date, while still marking a shift forward for the young producer. Frank Mitchell Ali Renault: ?Meschi produces some of the most balanced house music that you hear today, and Light Theory on LUX is his best work to date!?
