Complicated Universal Cum is the solo project of Frederik Valentin. Valentin is already involved in numerous rock constellations around Copenhagen, but none as uncompromising as Complicated Universal Cum.
The debut album aptly named "Cuc" was only being released in Denmark but it raised more than a few eye brows globally with the video to it´s single "I Can Hardly Wait", toping more than 10.000.000 views. Even at that Time Cuc´s signature Sound = fuzzed-out psychedelic spacerock combining elements of primitive electropunk, noiserock and punkrock attitude was shining through. The Album was introduced live with a 7 piece band including 2 drummers and 3 guitars that will also showcase the new release we have here now.
"Hello Exit Harmony" and "Before F after C" that Questions & Answers will release internationally together with their Copenhagen based Friends Fake Diamond Records
rre proving the debut was far from a brief moment of good taste on behalf of Valentin.
Instead sealing his place as one of the most interesting rock musicians in the monarchy of Denmark. The reference is ill late 80's psychedelic rock mixed with an often repetitive, kraut influenced rhythm section, along side a great use of electronic effects. Valentin's greatest advantage is the ability to turn the material into his own, without sounding like the genre confused, pale image of his idols.
"Hello Exit Harmony" focuses on the power of the word. Valentin offers his interpretation of classic indie rock, influenced by British shoegazer and 90's American noise rock, mixed with his fondness of the melodic and refrain orientated rock hit. The culminations heard on the single "Beyond or Below". A heavy bass line serves as the foundation of a dreamy yet explosive rock hit, on which cascades of expressive guitar noise and musical know-how reaches a higher purpose.
On the contrary, abstraction best defines the concept of "Before F after C". The album consists of four, self-indulgent, psychedelic instrumental tracks. This marks Complicated Universal Cum's place in the school of instrumental rock…
Abstract guitar rifs, explosions of noise, repetitive rhythms and a nothing but sparse use of distorted sounds. The result is pretty unique, most reminiscent of a rediscovered version of 70's spacerock , take alone the ultraintense 14 minute "Ketamine".
Some might say Complicated Universal Cum struggles with the past. But there is no doubt - the future shines bright.

Tracklisting: 1. Right Or Wrong 2. I Live At Night 3. Walking Mirror 4.Lemon Moon 5. Don't Fall In Love 6. Head Up High 7. Downtown 8. It´s Your Life 9. My Power Obey 10. Our Hearts Are Pounding 11. In Between
Consisting of Louise Foo Lisbet Fritze and Sofie Johanne, Giana Factory, specialize in a wonderful kind of iced pop, beautiful song writing with a lot of depth and diy attitude punch.
Take the throbbing synths, quivering guitars, and clipped, canned beats of the first single "Lemon Moon" and the deep but imminent pop feel of "i live at night" and "walking mirror" as prime examples. It's music that's given a human heartbeat by Louise's effortlessly expelled vocals which are downy-soft but harbor a cool confidence at their core.
The record is produced by Anders Trentemoller. It incorporates personal stories and musings on the interconnectivity of relationships between people and their relationship to the world. "Our intention with the new songs was to cut them to their bones by trusting the melodies, lyrics and sounds enough to let the songs stand naked and uncontrolled'. They likened Lemon Moon's creative process with building a screenplay, as new characters and storylines entered the picture until the final product materialized, exploring and playing with the concept of time and place, dream and reality. All this is reflected in the great artwork of italian / american photographer Andrea Galvani who , inspired by Giana Factory´s music extended his much acclaimed picture series "Death of An Imagine" for an own version of "Lemon Moon´s sleeve design which will be hosted at his new york gallery later this spring..

Mix the Verspielheit of MGMT, the darkness at Zola Jesus, the Groove of The Whitest Boy Alive put atop of Morricone's or Calexico's shimmering desert landscapes and around that certain sexyness and lasciviciousness that remind on the Chromatics or Glass Candy's of this world.
This is The Building, a trio from Hamburg.
Based around the fabled drummer Sven Elsner (Ex Tigerbeat) , as well as writer and singer Daniel Chun and pianist and second lead vocalist Tina Kaempe.
In this Building there is no ex- nor interior, it comes from within and in 2 fully different tonal structures. As a double release with the same songs, in different Versions and on two labels. November 1st.
On Clouds Hill (part 1) and Questions & Answers (part2).
Architects that need their fixed floorplan might call it a "folk-rock album", b "Electro-album".
But that´s only “half the rent” – Building the Building means ethereal spaces, oscillating sound places, seen on fragile CinemaScope. Actual meta-Pop including the right bit of enigma, and that's already more than most other German bands are "built" on.

'BettingOn The Mouse' is the first international album by the Copenhagen and Berlin based band BettingOn The Mouse. A band which is more tha anything the brainchild of singer and songwriter Martha Marie Skou. With a background in various fields of the Copenhagen creative scene Martha Marie Skou is somehow the anchorwoman of the band with members Xian Foo , brother of Sharin Foo /Raveonettes (drums), Kristian Haarløv (guitar) and Jonathan Aardestrup (bass).
Betting On The Mouse joined together in 2009 and have since played several concerts around Denmark. In 2011 their first EP 'BOTM' was released and applauded wildly by public decision makers all over. As one fine exapmple the Danish music magazine Undertoner wrote: "It is early in the year, but I can already predict that 'BOTM' is competing to become this year's record. A truly excellent debut."'Bettingon the Mouse' is intense modern alternative pop , organic instrumented but with much love to electronic detail. With an almost brutal honesty the songs invite you into a universe of dysphoria, but lifted and driven by desire and playfulness. Martha Skous cristal clear seductive and charismatic voice brings her audience a sense of hope , yet celebration while the lyrics center around much of today´s everyday urge.... restlessness, passion, the fear of life slipping through yourhands, and the need to accomplish.
Since ever then much effort has been taken soundwise and conceptual and finally yours truly, QuestionsAndAnswers, are happy to present you with the first full lenght , aptly named 'Bettingon the Mouse' which will be globally released in march 2013.

More

Complicated Universal Cum, - So What If It Kills You
Complicated Universal Cum is the solo project of Frederik Valentin.
For fans of: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Kasabian, Spiritualized, Spaceman 3, Union Carbide Productions

"Where The River Turns Black" is the first international Album by Copenhagen Resident and Musician Katrine Ottosen aka Call me Kat. Call Me Kat are adorably intense and mesmerizing songs, an enchanting melancholic, almost translucent drift into this sonic world best described as alternative Pop, music that gives spoken word of the ever expanding danish music scene of now. Songs that adapt a fine line between organic Instrumentation and that very specific sound of her voice, which although completely it´s own tends to remind at times on other playful ladies in music like Bjørk, Feist oder Lykke Li. Earlier Works with reknown producers Valgeir Sigurdsson (Bjørk, Mum, Sigur Rós etc.) or Joe Magistro (Prophet Omega) on the current Album have certainly had their share on this. It was in the snowy, icy winter of 2010 when Katrine Ottosen, the creative force behind the artist name, went to the Catskill Mountains north of New York City. Here just outside the town of Woodstock she teamed up with notable local-based musicians Joe Magistro (Prophet Omega) and Sara Lee (Gang Of Four, B52's). They filled a car with old keyboards and amps and drove off to Applehead Studios. A beautiful wooden barn-turned-studio surrounded by grand nature and packed with precious recording gear, making it the perfect setting for capturing the songs for the anticipated, next album. Ein Setting perfect to record a "real" Album, live , intuitive, organic, direct, "Oldfashioned" in the best sense of the word. "I felt when embarking on recording this album that in this absorbing, crazy digital age, sometimes we need to taking the music back where it lives in the room first instead of constructing inside a plastic box" , Kat says.
And you can hear that this is what gives "Wtrtb" a total own musical Identity, one is touched by this voice and absorbed by those melodies that get you right away. From the almost translucend opener "Somewhere", over the hauting chords of the titlesong, let alone the the intense grabbing "Glass Walls". "The Haze" airy and full of light changes into the pacey groovy retro chords with "Heat Full of Soul", the dramatic deep yet wonderful melancholic never pathetic "Broken House" / "Going Home" and is rounded up by the norsk organic feel of "Dead of Winter" or "Black Ink. There´scertainly no easy way out of "When The River Turns Black" ….
"The Skandinavian melancholy flows like a newly sprung spring stream through the woods, all while it resembles a French black and white movie from the 1960's. The material is organic, highly aesthetic and somewhat universal."(Soundvenue)
"Small is beautiful. That is the most fitting description for the music of Katrine Ottosen, alias CALLmeKAT. Cosy, cuddly, slightly melancholic music (…) And then on top of it her soft, alluring voice, as if purring in a corner. To get suddenly loud every once in a while. Think Fiona Apple meets CocoRosie." (Eurosonic)
"I wish we had pop artists like her in the U.S (…)." (United Groove, KJazz)
"Definitely among the debut albums of the year!" (Belingske Tidende)
- LP incl. CD and 16 panel fold out poster!
Tracklisting: 1. Somewhere 2. Where The River Turns Black 3. Sunny Day 4. Glass Walls 5. You Don´t Know 6. Broken House 7. Tigerhead 8. Going Home 9. The Haze 10. Dead of Winter 11. Heart Full of Soul 12. Black Ink More

Most bands don't play their first live show ever in a sold-out venue supporting a main act by the name of Glasvegas. But Giana Factory did. The trio consists of Loui Foo (vocals, drum pads), Sofie Johanne (bass, synth) and Lisbet Fritze (guitar), and since the release of the debut EP, Bloody Game in 2009, they've been picked up on the international blogosphere, as well as Pitchfork and Nylon Magazine, who fell for their unique noir-pop. The single 'Rainbow Girl' has been in A-rotation on national radio, and both Danish newspaper Politiken and the esteemed music magazine Soundvenue have featured covers of the trio.
With the band's distinct sense of creating tense, yet subtle pop gems, 'Bloody Game' became the promising head start for Giana Factory. This is where it starts for most bands. But then again, it was different for these ladies.
In 2008, Lisbet and Loui were touring Europe with fellow Danes, The Raveonettes, while Loui's big sister, Sharin Foo was on maternity leave. In London they accidentally bumped into James Allan of Glasvegas, who asked them if they had their own band, and if they were perhaps interested in supporting the Scots on their first show in Copenhagen. Finding it hard to refuse an offer like this, Giana Factory faced the crowd for the first time as a group two weeks later. They hadn't even released any music yet, but followed Glasvegas in Scandinavia and Germany. Subsequently, they have also supported bands such as Autolux, The Raveonettes and The Asteroid's Galaxy Tour.
In the 2011 Giana Factory finally release their first full-length album, 'Save The Youth', in Denmark. The album is very well-received, and their talents for combining gloomy synths and crisp drum pads with atmospheric guitars and sparklingly fresh melodies mark that Giana Factory have found a sound that is entirely theirs - that here were three women, who do their own, unique thing. Adding on to this is a monthly 7'' vinyl series containing a track from the album plus a remake made by musical friends from the road; Anders Trentemøller (DK), Glasvegas (UK), Autolux (US) and VETO (DK). Each artist/band interpretates their favorite song from the debut album 'Save the Youth'.
And Finally this Year : Giana Factory set out to conquer the rest of the world with their glam & noir-pop universe by touring - including the legendary Trans Musicales festival in Dec 2011 - and releasing their debut album 'Save The Youth' worldwide in March 2012 in a limited Bonus CD Edition incl. "Save the Youth", The First EP "Bloody Game", All the 7" Remixes and unreleased Studio Outtakes… Fantastic !
