“Surely Not” is a brilliant house number with Moodyman indebted drum pattern based around a soul edged vocal sample which unfolds into a deep late night groover. This is an essential release for Detroit aficionados. On the flipside Earl goes in with “British Knights” a frenetic subloaded tribal number with a lot of swagger and the odd nod to classic Todd Edwards and Afrika Bambaataa along the way. This one is all about the stabbing repetition and the infectious bass line that builds and builds euphorically until it drops into a rhythm track that commands the hips to move and the fist to punch the sky.
