5 would be the key number for the brand new Chateau Flight release on Versatile. It's been 5 years since the last release and it took 5 days to record. Nicolas (I:Cube) was busy with his own material, I moved to Amsterdam 3 years ago and as we like to make music in the same space. It took a bit of time but finally it's here; the Dam House EP. I invited Nicolas to visit me last winter, not to do music but just for a cool A’Dam hang out. This turned into 5 intense days of fun production in my studio. It was amazing for both of us to witness how our connection remained intact after all those years and the ideas came really quick. The vibes of the tracks all turned out pretty different, it's a true Chateau Flight kaleidoscope with an epic 10mn Techno track Sargan, a more House vibe, Crazy (Dam House mix), a heavy dark funk drive of Lo and the ambient Crazy(Ambient mix). This record would have not been the same without Redlight records,to whom this record s dedicated. James and Abel left their shop open at night just for us and as children in a candy store we went through the racks looking for samples that formed the inspiration for this ep.

For the remix job we asked Steve Moore (half of Zombi and several 12" on Kompakt, Permanent Vacation and the super cool label from NY L.I.E.S.). For our enjoyment,Steve delivered 2 versions in his typical multi-layered electronic sounds. One is for the club, and a slow version in a Kosmich fashion..

Chateau Flight, - Chichi Devils
Back To Basics. Overused expression but hard to find anything better to talk about "Chichi Devils", new track from Chateau Flight on Versatile ... A song that expresses a real desire of the duo to return to the sources. With one hand I: Cube and his recent "Falling EP" and "Merovingienne EP" which explored the territories of dub, techno & Nu House ... And Gilb'r who has ventured into pop / indie territory, producing The Big Crunch Theory first album (out end of January 2011) and Aladdin, his new joint project with Nicolas Ker (singer of Poni Hoax) whose album will be released this spring.
And what does Chateau Flight when the two producers give up aquatic techno and weird rock of their respectives projects ? A Chicago-style track (longtime forbidden word in the exercise of press sheet). Not a kind of boring and uninteresting "house revival" with tracks too smotth and too produced to sound like in 1987. But more in the idea of going to draw into the original mindset of house and DJing, where the worst enemy was the tag... A house music where black producers from insecure ghettos ogled cold wave and EBM from disillusioned european producers, when Liaisons Dangereuses was sampled by Adonis, when Ron Hardy used to play in his sets "Capataz" by the belgian band Velodrome, and when you listened to "Join The Chant" by Nitzer Ebb on the legendary and seminal WBMX radio ... A return to sources who spoke with a single nervous track on a one-sided 12", to better get back to basics ...
