Redux return from a winter hibernation and summer of partying with some more essential wax. Grand Corporation is the latest alias of Andy Meecham (Emperor Machine/Chicken Lips) and Stevie Kotey (Bearfunk/Chicken Lips), features the incredible vocals of Deborah Bell, and really cements the reputations of two of scenes finest producers. The Grand Corporation sound is inspired by the very best dance music from Detroit/Chicago/New York, resulting in some raw, sleazy and soulful early house vibes. There may be bit of a trend for reproducing classic house sounds at the moment, but these guys are seriously qualified to do it and unlike a lot of their peers capture the essence of what made this music so exciting in the first place. Free comes in vocal and instrumental versions, and with a superb bonus acid dub in the 'Do It Proper remix'.

Wonder & Amazement is a record I've had in various forms and incarnations from ex Chicken Lips members Steve Kotey & Andy Meecham for about a year now – a song that immediately grabbed me from the very first moment I heard it. Reminiscent of days gone by mixed with a touch of the new - a song that contains a mixture of both the old Classic and the new Classic. I've been championing it for a while now either in sets or charts, even including it on a recent compilation I did. A record that we are proud to be able to use as a soundtrack to this new era of Classic. Adding to its unique wonder we talked to a few amazing producers to get their own vibes on it for remixes. Crooked Man aka DJ Parrott I've been a fan of for years as part of The All Seeing Eye, his recent 'Machine', 'Preset' and 'Ill Be Loving You' releases (all of which I actually tried to sign to Classic) and for generally being a bit of a Sheffield legend. Here his two mixes are exactly what I hoped for from him. Deetron's productions and remixes I've liked for ages and he seemed to be the right person to go to to give this record that bigger mix it needed. Yosa, is a completely under-rated Japanese producer in my eyes, who's recent records have stayed in my sets for a long long time – the vocal & Instrumental mix delivered here are his second attempt, stripping back the unnecessary fiddly bits and keeping it bare to the bones…classic.

These Redux releases are like buses, we don't hear anything for ages then they hit us with three killer EP's in a row. Following the Grand Corporation and Machete Savane comes the return of Phoreski. We've not heard much from Phoreski for a little while, but you will soon hear why when you put the needle to the record on these two new tracks. He's been busily building up his studio into an enviable aladdin's den of vintage kit, wires and analogue recording equipment. All synths and vocals you hear on these tracks come from Phoreski, no samples, no guests, no edits.
He's been hinting at this raw, analogue authentic sound for a while, but these tracks showcase a producer at one with the machines. 'Brown Biscuits' comes across like some lost Italo/cosmic gem, but via the North East of England rather than the lakes of Italy. 'Machines' flexes tight proto-house rhythms with some bass that will make mince meat of lesser club soundsystems whilst the feuding synth lines fight for attention.
This is proper body music, play loud!

Redux return from a winter hibernation and summer of partying with some more essential wax. Machete Savane is their latest signing, Aka studio supremo Saul Richards & Andy Bainbridge, an integral part on well respected and notoriously raucous party people Bad Passion Andy has perfectly distilled what drives the Bad Passion dancefloor in the excellent 'Elysian Fields', and who better to put a unique stamp on the track than their main resident guest FELIX DICKINSON. He takes the track into bolder, dubbed out and altogether more Acid House territory, while keeping the live elements to the fore. Finally Mid Op amps up the drum machinery, and lays out another corking 'Balearic with balls' workout. Quality stuff as always

Drrtyhaze, - Get Down To Your Body
Redux drop the first various artist e.p in their history and pull together some of their favourite "track-smiths" to deliver a selection of dance floor goodies.
Spanning the globe from London to New York to down under in Melbourne, the music trawled on the first in the series all share the same aim… to make you dance. First up from NYC is Drrtyhaze's "Get Down To Your Body" with it's stomping toms , funky woodblocks and meaty bassline getting straight to the point while uplifting piano chords soar in from above to elevate the vibe. Blurring the gap between house and disco the track builds and drops in all the right places to make this gritty groove feel bright and euphoric whilst still maintaining some energy to get those bodies moving. Next in line is London's Mankind. Dropping a baggy, tripped out rework of Alexander O'neils club hit "Criticize" . Sounding like Maurice Fulton and Toby Tobias having a fight in an airport with it's nasty bassline, delayed drums and jet engine build ups, "Marimba on Toast" is sure to make any party lift off into the atmosphere. Finally we have an exciting collaboration between Pete Herbert and Melbourne's Golden Fleece who simultaneously show their love for belgium beer and the cosmos with 'Inter Stella'. Coming on strong like an impatient Bootsy Collins with it's insistent bass line, funky stuttering guitar licks and Hi energy synths…. this funk hammer is aimed straight at the backside and doesn't let go the whole way through. It's bright perky sound and solid beats are a guaranteed party popper. Designed with one thing in mind these grooves are sure to move your behind making this ep an essential for any discerning DJ's bag.
As always at the House of Redux, the music comes dressed to impress with ltd edition hand screen printed sleeves pleasing the eyes as well as your ears.
Buy or Cry.

Redux kick off 2011 with an absolutely superb debut release from White Elephant - a super limited 10" only release of rare Balearic bliss ! White Elephant are Benjamin Smith (Smith & Mudd) and Jim Baron and Chris Todd (Crazy P), so expectations for the collaboration were more than met when they delivered this sublime cut. On the flip, Merc supremo Mark E expertly reinterprets the stunning A Side with one of his best remixes to date, keeping the vibe or the original intact, but taking it into solid, floor-shaking beatdown house territory.
