This latest EP from UK punk-funk outfit Gramme represents the final release in the run up to the debut album due out this November. The EP opens with Girls Talk, which witnesses the band occupying curious new territory with lead vocalist Sam Taylor's playground taunt playing hard-to-get with am addictive groove.Next up is Face To Face which is the sound of Gramme at the wheel mixing in the spookiness of David Byrne and Brian Eno voodoo jamming. It's Magic performs a welcome surprise by mixing lo-slung funk with a bubble pop vocal. The EP comes to a shuddering grand finale with Two Minds - the most electronic track to date mixing dreamy vocals with cut back spikes of machine funk - this is the sound of Gramme's very own production team getting sweaty in a late night studio session in deep, dark SE London. There is simply no denying it. It's official: Gramme are back.

After more than a decade of silence – no gigs, no music, no nothing – Gramme return with their debut album Fascination. The cult around the band and their lone release, the Pre-Release EP, continued to grow until in 2011 some mysterious 12" bootlegs of Like U began to appear, with edits by Joe Goddard of Hot Chip. A few months later self released white labels begin to circulate with new Gramme material. Those recent EP's have gone on to form Fascination, the first full studio album by Gramme. Gramme is the musically pioneering band that went missing in action sometime around 2000. Originally signed to Trevor Jackson's Output label, the band emerged in the mid-nineties with a sound so out of step with the cultural milieu they found themselves swimming against the tide. Gramme 2012, now a streamlined four piece but equally as passionate and excited by the possibilities of their own music making. With three new 4 track E.P.s already on the shelves this year, reportedly selling out before the dust had time to settle. The next step is a 12 track long player scheduled for release in February on Tim ‘Love’ Lee's Tummy Touch Records. The album represents about two and a half years of sporadic but intense writing, jamming, recording and editing and at least three complete fresh starts. The aim was finally to create something immediate and in the present but something that would also stand the test of time. It needed to work in the club, the car and the kitchen simultaneously.

Gramme spluttered into life in 1996, high on the fumes of 99 Records, ESG, Liquid Liquid, Factory's ACR, New Order & Daft Punk's album 'Homework'. Their ambition was to make raw, accessible and deeply pleasurable party music for those left cold by the tired and uninspiring sounds of big beat. Gramme and the Output imprint paved the way for a new musical movement and was influential in the early sound of New York's DFA and bands like The Rapture and The Juan Mclean. Now, in 2012, this joie de vivre has never bean more apparent. Their first release in 6 years, EP2.1 came out in March and flew off the shelves, as did Hot Chip re-edits of classic Gramme tracks 'Like You/Mine' which was released on a New York bootleg imprint. Now 'Too High' EP drops this June. This new EP on the band's own imprint Physical Release Recordings takes the Gramme sound to yet new musical echelons. 'Too High' is an addictive hypnotic, anthemic ode to the dancefloor. 'Headsore', a bleepy, intensely spirited whirl of inner verve being released through musical veins. 'I'll Make It Up' takes the pace down with a seductive clicky groove, oozing a lush yet melancholic vibe that will make the hairs on the back of one's neck tingle. And then there's 'I Can't Resist', a contemporary slice of post-punk funk heaven.

The first track on the new EP which has gathered interest from a few DJs when we've jammed it live is Rough News. This track was initially a warm up groove during our sound checks which slowly started to become something more solid. It was our first benchmark of a sound to move forward with and a reason to believe in our music again. The second track is IFTM (I Feel The Moment) which started life more as a twitch rather than a track, but it found its legs after hours of repeated playing and some expert tweaking during Dave and Leo's late night studio sessions. We definitely feel Fascination represented a real turning point for Gramme's re-birth as it arrived, fully formed, as more a gift than the product of hard labour! With spirits raised we quickly squared the circle adding LOL, which we feel completes the EP beautifully. We knew these tracks worked together so have decided to release them this month, to be followed by new material in May. It's official - Gramme is back!
