Mark Henning is back! Back on Cityfox! A classic acapella and Mark's distinctive sound collide, result-ing in a huge tune, sounding old school and fresh at the same time. Not just the vocals are telling a story here, the synths and bassline add their part to complete the track. The second original 'Trojan' is the secret weapon and club bomb, the dark side of the release, because too much sunshine is never healthy ... Afrilounge take it a step deeper in their mixes. The 'Back2Basic' mix features the dynamic they are famous for, the 'FM Dope Mix' (digital only!) and its big string melody sounds as clean as and sparkles like the sunrise itself. The '1998 Edit' incorperates the rhythms and vibes of classic House and Techno from the era when it all began. Thick, groovy basslines and pulsing pads laid out over infectious percussion make this track an instant classic.

Mark Henning opens his 2017 Soma account with the ingenious Expander Six EP furthering his hardware Techno escapades. Title track Expander Six harks back to classic 90s Techno with heavy beats, deep stabs and deeper vibes. Tides brings pure unadulterated funk as Henning drops some serious, swinging grooves. 1991 follows up perfectly with a more straight to the point club ready banger. The Dogs closes out yet another on point EP from the British producer which sees him upping the pace with some furious drum programming knitted neatly together by some superbly catchy synth work Henning excels at blurring the line between House and Techno creating space for both in all his work, this well crafted EP typifies his style consummately.

A1. Mark Henning: Pusher A2. Mark Henning: Swingers B1. Mark Henning: Triple 13 B2. Mark Henning: Satin
Info:
Poker Flat capture Mark Henning in a rich vein of form for this EP of deadly deep and intense tech house. For almost a decade, the Anglo-German, Berlin-based DJ has turned out consistent releases on an array of underground labels, but here his trademark combination of darkness, swing and technoid funk reaches new levels. "Pusher" is a modern masterpiece: tough, crisp and fine-tuned for deployment on Stonehenge-sized speaker stacks, it's a tune that envelops you, the introduction of each individual element staggered for maximum effect. "Somebody let me get my sh*t," the repeated vocal declares: a request the tune responds to magnificently. The kinetic shuffle of "Swingers" follows a similar trajectory, overwhelming the listener with its relentless energy.
Through the simple yet spooky Hitchcockian device of a single repeated piano note "Triple 13" hypnotises, a trippy snatch of processed vocal providing a hallucinatory edge, while "Satin" explores dreamier territory with a reverberating New Age synth motif. All four tracks are masterclasses in restraint from a producer who can combine deceptively simple elements to make a resounding and inimitable emotional impact. Aptly named, this 12" is simply the only drug you'll need.

Mark Henning returns to Soma with yet more jacked up machine funk in Titan. Mark has firmly established him self within the Soma mainstays and continues to further his sound on the label. This latest EP sees him take to the street with two energetic drum workouts laden with his unique flavour. Title track Titan is very typical Henning, keeping the ingredients simple yet effect and created live. A solid groove from his trusty 909 that just oozes dance floor compatibility hooked up with a quirky synth stab, weird vocals and a eerie organ-like riff all rounded off with a fantastic arrangement makes for one seriously infectious track Roots gives of a real ghetto-tech feel, as once again a 909 groove is enough to get things going while squelchy synth hits bounce of rimshots working up to a subtle rolling bass line. Mark’s skill in the arrangement process take hold as he allows the tracks to develop into a full drum workout with mutes here and there and the simple addition of more stuttering percussion help to pick up the pace. Henning as the enviable talent of being able to create dance floor burners with the simplest of elements, a task he delivers of with blinding result on this EP.

Mark Henning makes a welcome return to Soma with yet more jaw dropping tracks with the Blackout EP. Going back to his analogue roots, Mark has crafted two tough floor burners laden with his signature funked up basslines and crafty drum programming. Title track Blackout rocks in with melted vocal samples over that ominous 909 kick, building slowly with a lush pad, the perfect intro to what will follow…Mark brings a perfectly sequenced bassline that growls yet remains as funky as can be. Layers of hi hats work their way as the bassline mutates in the background. Mark keeps this this track deep as the pad once again glides in giving a bit of Motor City feel. This is real machine funk. On Jack & Jill Henning keeps it stripped back but no less driving. This is a full on analogue monster. A melodic synth line backed by straight up 909 drums work this track into a frenzy with complete ease. With the mere opening of filters and simplistic use of the revered drum machine Mark has built a track that will whip any dance floor up. A firm favourite at Soma, Mark always delivers the good and with this EP of machine fuelled techno he looks to set things alight with his unique and quirky production.

Digitaline, - Stuck Off the Realness
Barcode:4260129259420 Release: 05.11.2012
First of all we're fans of Digitaline since the first hour. We're more than proud to present their third EP on Cityfox. Another time they combine their distinctive grooves with unforeseeable melodies. That's exactly what we love about them - always expect the unexpected. 'Wanna' is the best example for this winning formula. Out of the clear sky, suddenly you get hypnotized by a huge repetitive hook. Simple and complex at the same time. Dynamic in its purest form. 'Stuck Off The Realness' represents another well known strength of Digitaline - an irresistible rhythm construct combined with abrubt vocals opening a mental and psychedelic brightness. This is something for your body, brain and soul. We made the right decision asking John Tejada to remix 'Wanna'. He adds his own flavour but never loses the original spirit. Pushing it to an almost meditative point before starting all over again with Digitaline's main melody. We would describe this package as contemporary, yet modern and timeless music.

Mike Shannon steps up to the Cityfox LTD plate and squeezes the jack juice on his latest offering for Cityfox LTD entitled Foxology. It's a 3 track (5 digital) session of deep jazzy basslines and smooth cuts. We start things off with 'Foxology feat. Flowing', a twistedly deep smoothy of a house cut with Shannon's signature shuffle groove and warped dynamic basses featuring some wicked Blues harp action from Amsterdam's Flowing. Foxology's B-side is home to 'Foxwell' and 'Zukunftstrasse', the former being a rather hot number bubbling with bouncing bass, whereas 'Zukunftstrasse' is even more laid back and down tempo, while still playing your mind with it's sonic insight to the distant future. Digitally, you have the pleasure of Foxology feat. Flowing (Dubmix), taking things deeper than before. Digital buyers will also receive the 'Spritz Mix' with it's emphasis on percussion and mood, this sounds like a whole new track. Leaving the Jazz at home in favor of a bubbling Detroit style deep jack mix.

SUPPORTED BY SVEN VÄTH.
This time Cityfox takes it a creepy step deeper into Techno. Seph comes with his hands full of bass energy in the form of the Suzbu EP. 3 tracks, all of which will blow your speaker if you let em. "Genbu" doesn't play around, straight to the deep bass kick and whirring, like a machine powering up after a long hibernation. Vocal lines make you mad as the melody repeats. High energy track is a great way to begin explaining this track. "Suzaku" picks it right up where "Genbu" left, vocal cuts, deep kick, and wide melodies. Thick and sharp, techno at one of it's finest moments.
Produced together with Pablo Denegri, we come to "Unti". A nitemareish world of machines and persussion leading you through the night, making your way to groovy baselines and cool melody.
