Hector Works' numero uno duo take on a true journey to house music Neverland with the Peter VS Pan EP. Almost two and half years in the making, the boys reveal their many facets of cosmic, sleaze disco and acid wonk One The A side, Pan Vs Peter is a Tech Funk heavy slow house burner, that shimmers with dubbed out guitar, thumps with Low end and grooves the like the funk brothers at opium afterhours. Think Vacum Boogie meets Silver Connection and you are almost there. Starting off the B-side is the EP's title track Peter Vs Pan and it's right out the gate NCAM Drunkhouse maddness. A timeless disco house groove with a bassline so big that we were certain that it was gonna blow out the lathe and never actually get cut (thankfully mastering made sure that didn't happen :). And to round things out, the boys get hard on the acid house tip with Terry's Nightmare, an ode to the grouchiest bartender at Peter Luger's Steakhouse in Brooklyn NY.

Hector Works triumphantly returns with a collaborative 12" coming to the rescue of marooned disco sea captains the world over. Label head honcho Anthony Mansfield finally teams up with DJ Garth, of Wicked and Grayhound fame, for a tune strategically titled "Pancho's Revenge." These two have been been collaborating in various forms of tomfoolery for many years but this is the first time 'original' evidence of their shenanigans has been put to tape. "Pancho's Revenge" is a delightfully sprawling affair, complete with super-spy guitar lines, crisp drums straight from the westside, morse code bass guitar, and enough dubby treatments to make one's skull swirl. Things build wildly as guitar dive bombs and percussion trills abound. Certain massive dance floor reaction.

On their first outing on Anthony Mansfield's own Hector Works label the AM/TM duo (that's Anthony with Aniligital's Tal M. Klein) come on strong with a righteous three tracker of epic proportions. "Steel The Summer" brings the summer to you. Think: steel drums, dubbed out boat drinks with tiny umbrellas, analog synths, girls in bikinis wielding M-16's, disco claps, supernova sunsets, a little bit of 'oonts,' and tanks on the beach. Sounds like the perfect getaway from the sounds of yesterday. It's the party stomping floor filling song that plays so nice you gotta drop it twice. And speaking of bikinis, let's talk about "Front Butt." A track with a pretty serious fatness problem. It's kind of like what happened when electro met disco in a dark bar and they both had a little too much to drink and nine months later the funkiest little monster was born. Heavy electro bass synths meet disco cowbells and DJ trickery for a party in your FUPA. For "Rain Dance" Anthony and Tal seemingly get serious for a second. This is a track for all the heads in the house and fans of something like cosmic tribal disco. It sounds like a disco edit but it's an original. Big sub bass thunderclaps fuse with rhythmic percussion and sweeping pads, with a big breakdown that brings it all back together again. Make it rain!

Anthony Mansfield & Nick Chacona drop a double serving of their patented trashy drunk-funk. "The Heat" is, as the vocal states, the sound of disco from Berlin to San Francisco. Prepare yourself for smashingly groovy house music that's built to rock a party. "Burning Sensations" has freestyle-boogie-electro-break-house roots but is firmly planted in the here and now. It's a sure-fire hit with perverts, escapists, sleazelords, and back-room wizards. Together, these two tracks are positively 'on fire' additions to the boys' echelon.
