Heavily influenced by classic Chicago House, Electro and early Disco music Massi’s new EP serves as a cross-section of his musical interest as a producer and sonic palette as a selector. Working with vintage studio gear, analogue synthesizers and classic drum machines, his Time And Again EP is as warm and soulful as it’s lush and bursting with strength. While the title “If I Try To Forget I Will Miss You Even More” on A1 may hint to romantic and bluesy off-dancefloor music, the opposite is true: the Italo Disco-meets-House track takes a flamboyant development throughout its 7-minutes, is spot-on from the first to last note with glorious synth arpeggios and catchy melodies. Far from mourning ex-lovers but rather for meeting new ones. This EP’s eponymous track on A2 starts with a machine-like rhythm until impelling synth harmonies kick in – loose yourself in the crowd, in a moment, over and over, “Time And Again”. “To A Faraway Place” connects to this feeling, but starts off on a darker tone – then after the first 60 seconds the mood swings , steadily pushing up and forward until this warm synth- and percussion-driven House cut reaches its climax at about 5 minutes in when a compelling melody takes over. Tune! “A Passing Day” on B2 closes this EP with introverted and slowed down vibes, this calm anchor feels perfectly crafted for dramatic moments within a set and serves well as the closer of this four-tracker. Following up on Power Of Anonymity Steffi releases an EP with three versions of Treasure Seeking featuring Dexter and Virginia on Ostgut Ton. When Steffi's second album Power Of Anonymity was released in late November 2014, the Dexter-co-produced cut "Treasure Seeking" was the record's standout track: uplifting, percussion-driven and featuring Virginia's seductive vocals. For the Treasure Seeking 12", besides the original version spread over the full length of the 45rpm A-side, Steffi, Virginia and Dexter went back to the drawing board, reflecting on the album's overall Electro sound aesthetic. While the new "130 BPM Version" puts strong emphasis on filled club floors with twirling synth stabs and a continuous, uptempo rhythm, the "Diep Version" starts off with heavy claps and a pulsing bassline until a set of soothing strings starts altering the overall mood – from a dark space towards the light. Shambhu the undisputed Queen of the Berghain bar ladies (she regulary holds court every Saturday upstairs at her very own Gitter Bar) and Rummelsnuff the Germanic Hulk of the Berghain/Laboratory bouncers come up with enchanting and surprising results. The release comes pressed as a 7" (a first for the label and limited to 500 hand-numered copies) and each side is given to one of the two artists. Recording sort of cover versions that developed more into original tracks inspired by releases from Ostgut Ton's back catalogue, Shambhu And The True Love Hearts got their teeth into Steffi's "Sadness" and created a new version full of grit and raw power steeped into Gospel, Rock & Roll, Blues and Soul, the vocals of Shambhu are quite incredible, which she also proved live at her band's recent concert at Berghain. Rummelsnuff has been recording his unique brand of Industrial Music meets Drinking Songs for quite some time now and many are already familiar with his sound, for this 7" he has taken the track "Makes Me Wanna Dance" by Prosumer & Murat Tepeli and created a German version in true Rummelsnuff style, linear teutonic beats push the track straight through and the repetitive chorus creates a further link to the Techno side More
