ALBUM INFO: When Messiaen set out to transcribe birds' songs as models for his compositions, he couldn't have predicted that by now wild birds would have started to learn mobile phone ringtone patterns. For "A System of Objects", RAUDIVE aka OLIVER HO maps an obliquely constructed world in which you lose all certainty of what is nature and what is design. Raudive celebrates dance and auditory scenes as rituals, employing our surroundings as sources of ahistorical "found sound" - primitive technologies used to reach magickal states. A drum machine and a wooden stick, a sawtooth-shaped electric current and a split rock all turn into empirical objects of the same class, without a definite past or a predictable impact. We have become dependent on technology we don't grasp beyond its display surface. Lost on reason, we are thrown back on the ritual to reveal the hidden relations of what surrounds us: the club as emblematic center of the emancipated individual, longing to bond with equals, again.
BIOGRAPHY: Originally being one of the original British techno innovators in the 1990s, after 2006 Oliver Ho shifted gear with his Raudive alias towards slower, hypnotically bouncing rhythms. Various shades of darkness and acoustic / metallic found sound sources shape the Raudive aesthetic. His records have appeared on labels such as Cocoon, Running Back, Pokerflat, Thema and on his own Wires imprint. "ASoO" is his 2nd album after 2010's "Chamber Music" on Macro.
The 20 page CD booklet contains images from the series "Masks" by Jens Ullrich.

Raudive a.k.a. Oliver Ho heads home with two guilty dancefloor pleasures. Gritty surface, smoove bottom. For those damp, dimly lit cellar clubs: low ceilings, fog, smoke and all that. "Ruins" runs a relentless groove against angular guitar overtones, blowing out the valves of its amplifier. Metal sheets, rusty strings, sweaty bodies. "Visitor" is built on a naughty percussion sequence and is elevated by a morphed girl's inquiring voice straight out of a 1984 Shibuya version of Blade Runner. Kinky. Essential 2013.

Raudive for Running Back. Oliver Ho's alias for the less obvious techno stompers has always been full of surprises. Although you can take the man out of the rave, but not the rave out of the man, Raudive's "Traffic EP" is a retro futuristic team of hermaphrodites.
Four tracks that recall metal dance - the genre that never was - as well as disco elements, house hints, a techno taste and wave wonders. A record made for Sven Väth and Trevor Jackson, with "Beams" already on heavy rotation with Dixon and Âme for a while now. Baby!

Get The Curse Music 013 features Oliver Ho aka Raudive, one half of duo The Eyes In The Heat. Widely acclaimed for his vicious minimal techno grooves, Raudive's been on an machine funk bend and crafted two tracks which are as robust as they are potent. True to the GTCM philosophy, distinctions between vintage and modern, old school and new school, mind melting and bodily stimulation are brilliantly blurred. Neither house, techno, EBM or synth punk, these tracks move in their own circles. The same can be said for the XENOGEARS remix, miles away from the tired templates used and abused by most producers. Fuck genres, let's dance. OBSESSION >This here's an exercise in stripped down funk looping and Raudive nails it remarkably. Slapped bass, gated snares, vintage percussion, the odd guitar chord, short vocal samples, oozing synth leads and a rickety bassline make for a cunningly groovy track. This no frills, throbbing track will get dancefloors in a frenzy from bar one. Free your ass and your mind will follow, as George Clinton so eloquently put it. ROMANTIC ROBOTIC >In this track the rhythm section is structured by a groovy bassline and straightforward drum programming including a vintage cowbell and hypnotic shakers. These let the catchy syncopated vowels and droning vintage leads reach mesmerizing heights through twisted melodies. True to its name, this number combines a clinical, mechanical groove with an emotional vibe/ROMANTIC ROBOTIC XENOGEARS a.k.a. THE ANALOGUE COPS REMIXFans of Geeeman's remix on our latest EP will be pleased, because we're bringing you another stripped down, jackin' as hell, nervous as fuck remix that is reminiscent of classic beatdowns from the 90's. Xenogears, of The Analogue Cops fame focuses on a short loop of the mind boggling kind, robust drum programming and analogue synth melodies. This reduced palette nonetheless provokes brilliant results. Neither hard house or acid techno this powder keg of a track is more than ready to make dancefloors explode.

Raudive, - End Of The Street
Another critical release, following the deadly DJs Pareja single of last month. Perfectly timed and cued after the recent Raudive long-player on Stefan Goldmann's Macro label. Raudive is Oliver Ho's darker, more 'new-wave' operative, and these latest productions have caught the attention of the folks at History Clock - and it's a perfect alliance. The 'Levels EP' is a debased mix of sleazy, after-hours acid-dancehall with the icy cool of minimal, machine-music dynamics. Essential, in a word.

As one of the founding talents of James Ruskin’s continuing Blueprint Records empire or Richard Polson and Nick Dunton’s seminal Surface Records, we at THEMA don’t really think we need to remind you who Oliver Ho is. Since 1996 he’s released a steady stream of high quality, stylistically diverse, and highly dependable records on Blueprint, his own Meta, Light and Dark imprints, and such leading labels as Klang Electronik, Macro, and Poker Flat that bridge the gaps between techno, tech-house, and deep exploration and always keep DJs like us reaching for them when we need that not-quite-ordinary thing that keeps people moving. With his different aliases and long career, it’s sometimes difficult to say what exactly makes his sound so unique, but we’ve always enjoyed their tight, funky grooves that keep experimentation in mind at all times. It’s a delicate balance that most couldn’t maintain, but over 15 years Oliver has nailed it almost every time, and we’re proud to have him aboard here for more of the same exceptional quality we’ve come to expect from yet another legendary producer. Whether its under his own name or his more house-focused Raudive material, we’ve always been very impressed with Oliver’s originality, and we’re pleased to report that he integrates some of those avant-garde tendencies noted on his new Wires releases to excellent effect. Actually, some of that comes out on Glass Hearts opening track of the EP, a spooky echofest haunted by abstract, metallic keyboards and repeated vocal detritus. Things go uptempo for the next cut, the “Dark Version” of Seven, where more repeated vocals, some very controlled toms and hats and downcast keys make for an appealing, tightly wound tune sure to make an impact in the mix. Widescreen splits the difference between the opener’s abstraction and the drive of Seven, and it comes up on the half-tempo, introspective side of things for something that we personally find a lot to like about. He heads back to the floor on the B side cuts, certainly the hardest and most unabashedly driving pieces here. Windows sneaks in with some nice rising pads making for something a bit moodier and deeper when combined with the punchy groove established by the drums and female vocal samples. The closer, King and Queen charges forwards with his percussion programming, but there’s still a darker current under those fierce drums that shades the edges and makes for more complex and compelling listening to close this well versed EP. A little something for all users.

Over the past 14 years London’s Oliver Ho aka Raudive has gathered a world wide following with his research into deep techno, through his legendary Meta label and with his unique DJ gigs from New York to Berlin to Tokyo. Introducing the Raudive alias, he created a reduced, sexy, dancefloor-centered wave of greatness for labels from Drumcode to Cocoon. This sound turned out to be highly attractive for the DJs to play and for the girls and boys to dance to. The unparalleled appeal of his beats left the usual minimal competitors sounding rather dull. Thus Raudive quickly became the blueprint of techno modernism and one of today’s most influential genre-bending production styles. With his “Cone” and “Paper” EPs he is now a key artist of the ever brilliant Macro family, and just having launched his own new Wires imprint, the man is more than on fire. Forming the hallmark of the Raudive saga, Macro unleashes the highly anticipated debut album - “Chamber Music". Chamber Music is both: claustrophobic in sound design, reminiscent of the dark and sweaty concrete club spaces this music inhabits, as well as carrying acoustic qualities of induced instrumental experimentalism. Bitches Brew voodoo reeds, New York no wave voices and European avant strings spin a mesmerizing dark patina around the ultra-sexy year-3000-rhythms. No wonder there’s huge DJ support all accross the board - from Miss Kittin to Richie Hawtin, Surgeon to Trevor Jackson, Ricardo Villalobos to Jeff Mills. Massive deep edge and one of 2010 finest albums so far!

With 2009's magnificiently deep "Cone EP" Raudive aka Oliver Ho became an integral part of the ever brilliant Macro family. The man is in there for a reason. Now he drops one of Macro's most dancefloor-centered, yet distinctively future forward outings so far. "Paper" - the chord, the bass, the strings! All deepness ingredients are there and it would be "just" classic if it wasn't Raudive in control, whose chord is rather acoustic than synthetic, whose strings are rather Xenakis than Detroit - and whose bassline is just pumping genius blasting any reference system. But it's a double pack of excessive excellence. "Brittle" is Paper's evil sister and a giant step in groove design, throwing the thrills of the unknown right at your dancefloor. It's repetitious, maniacal vexation patterns put any record to shame that has ever been called hypnotic. 2010 is right here. The EP is rounded off with the shimmering "Sienna" - a no-beat melodic variaton set against the warmth of grainy crackle. One of the most thrilling releases by one of the most thrilling labels.

Under his Raudive alias, Oliver Ho has created a trademark blend of future forward house and techno that has been the sound to some of the greatest moments on our favourite dancefloors over the last couple of months. Recently labels like Cocoon, Drumcode and Pokerflat were blessed to release superb pieces by Raudive and he created enthusiasm all accross the board from Ricardo Villalobos to Sven Väth. For his Macro debut he moved a step further: The Cone EP with its 3 cuts of twisted house brings some serious madness to the club: Raudive's signature beats get a strong jazz infusion with bits of saxophone and an out-of-control piano spinning around the pumping bassline. Crazy all the way while delivering a maximum of dancefloor appeal.

Poker Flat proudly welcomes Raudive aka Oliver Ho with his amazing „Zeitgeist“ EP!Oliver Ho has been one of the most creative producers on the electronic circuit for more than ten years now. He has been exploring Techno and House in their many different styles, ranging from the deep tribal sounds of his „Universal“ album on his own label „Meta“, to the dark abstract noises on his „Veil“ album. Since 2006 Oliver has been releasing as Raudive focusing more on the dancefloor, but incorporating his explorations of dark and experimental electronic music. The result is a still dark with an amazingly hypnotic blend of techy House-music that always comes paired with a funky attitude. And so is „Zeitgeist“. A dark manic and hypnotic,
but irresistibly funky track, that will fully unfold his magic on the dancefloor.Being kindred spirits in regards to musical taste, Poker Flat label-head Steve Bug is an excellent choice for the remix of „Needles“. He perfectly builds this strong track around a manic synth sound and a piano chord, before the hi-hats make „Needles“ a funky floorshaker. More

Jorge Ciccioli shows up again on RRYGULAR. With his new release "Southern Tool" the Argentinian dives really deep into the minimal genre. By focussing on the most important elements he created three handy and driving dj tools. And although the tunes are already well arranged there is room to experiment while playing. The track "Sinatsuma" comes with a nice signature phrase that might get stuck in your head. The whole B face is reserved for the remix by Franco Cinelli who turned the main track into a dubby Techhouse tune of almost 10min. Nice one
