simon garcia - I never knew, Mr. Tophat Remix
Tracklist:
A1. I Never Knew feat. Trisse Young
A2. Trimmer
B1. I Never Knew (Mr. Tophat Remix)
Info:
He’s back in the kitchen… After a summer of endless touring Madrid-based Garcia has returned to his flavour lab to cook up a whole new wealth of grooves and the future is looking tasty.
Last spotted on Pets in 2013 - and since serving up styles on some of the most respected labels in techno – Pokerflat, Freerange, Darkroom, Perspectiv and Supplement Facts - Garcia provides two quintessential winter warmers. ‘I Never Knew’ chugs with a full bodied dynamic that’s nicely reminiscent of Yoshitoshi 15-20 years ago as molten machines create a funk that wraps itself around the short-but-perfectly formed humanised sample.
“Trimmer” lives up to its name with his signature Hypnotic Vibes less-is-more flow. A precision-chiselled groove that spirals deeper and deeper into itself, it comprises nothing but a bubblesome bass lick, sturdy kicks, subtle FX and an undulating synth line that ripples almost majestically. A serious DJ tool for those who like their understated blends to suddenly catch you by surprise, this is the epitome of restrained.
Speaking of surprise, just on Mr Tophat’s remix of ‘I Never Knew’. Closing the show with a true switch-flipper, the second you think you have the remix and its slinky Brett Johnson/Classis Music style groove locked down BOOM… In come those organs and a whole heap more. Nine minutes of heaven – you won’t be trimming this one down in a hurry. You won’t be trimming any of them. Enjoy… More

simon garcia - Ataraxia
2
simon garcia - A Hot Drink In The Desert
Tracklist 12":
A. Simon Garcia: Ataraxia
B. Simon Garcia: A Hot Drink In The Desert
Ataraxia: "a state of serene calmness" - and a highly appropriate title for two tracks that epitomise Simon Garcia's singular vision of the hypnotic potentiality of house. On the back of his residency at Madrid's MOTEL club, a busy international tour schedule, and high praise from an array of luminaries including Laurent Garnier, Garcia touches down on Poker Flat for the second time very much on the crest of a wave.
The title track's pounding kick and busy hats provide a bedrock for a slow crescendo of drones and parallel, pulsing synths. Skilfully, layer after layer is added to the mix to deliver a heady, reverberating transfiguration. Eschewing the easy tricks of big builds and breakdowns, it's an exercise in serenity through meditative repetition.
'A Hot Drink In the Desert' casts a tropical feel with its bustling beat and dancing xylophone. This is soon disrupted by high frequency, Hitchcockian drones, ominous piano strokes and undulating bass tones, taking the tune into haunting soundtrack territory - a deliciously mysterious and spooky groove.

simon garcia - Radians (Matthew Styles Remix)
Simon Garcia joins the Freerange fold for their 196th release where he delivers two brilliant originals that seem to encapsulate the label's sound perfectly. The Spanish producer has slowly but surely built his reputation over the last few years with quality releases on Guy Gerber's Supplemental Facts, Ripperton's Perspectiv and most recently Steve Bug's Poker Flat Recordings. Radians instantly draws you in with a heavy, looped-up rolling bassline and driving hats creating an intense groove for the slowly building chords and arpeggiating layers of synths. Echoing claps bring hints of techno to the track and the weaving theramin line throws in another curveball when trying to pigeonhole the style of this track. Best to just say that we loved this on first listen, reminding us of some of the best Milton Jackson releases over the years. On How Long, Simon drops the BPM's a touch for a brilliant warm up jam which oozes with a low-slung funk, a simple chiming melody building to a peak where waves of sparkling chords are ready and waiting to make love to your ears on the dancefloor. Finally, we're very pleased to have Matthew Styles onboard for his remix of Radians. Matthew has been delivering the goods time after time with standout releases on Running Back, Classic and Tamed to name a few. Remixes on Crosstown Rebels, Tsuba and Visionquest show how diverse he can go but always with his own style and attention to detail in the production which impresses us most. Here he comes up trumps once again with a rolling, stripped-back techy house groove which really locks into a hypnotic vibe. And already tried and tested by Dinky in Panarama Bar to great response!

Simon Garcia, Daniel Kyo, - Options

Simon Garcia, - Bass II Bass
3
Simon Garcia, - Cavern
Following his successful ‚Tears In Vain‘ 12‘‘ on Perspectiv, promising new producer Simon Garcia continues his quest for the holy-grail of modern house and techno as we set forth into ‚Cavern‘. And indeed ‚Cavern‘ is a breathtaking ride - a warm pulsating synth pattern is coaxed along by a dusty, filtered kick before we are greeted with rushing bright percussion and a thunderous lead kick. Wild FX open up the floor with the first ecstatic break and from there on the track runs with a mind of its own, exploding with rapturous drama and tasteful restraint. Bringing us back down to earth at least for a moment. ‚Bass II Bass‘ treads more swinging, groovy territories in a classic NY styled house track, updated for 2012. Freaky, pitching vocals swirl around a tight bass-led rhythm section, telling a futuristic story of hopeless hedonism. The emotive-piano house vibes of ‚Options‘ will likely raise a few tingling hairs for those well acquainted with Steve Bug‘s recent DJ sets. The perfect blinded-by-the-morning-sun moment, Mr. Garcia really shows of his classy production skills with this slinky, moody slice of classic house.

Perspectiv welcomes French producer Nhar with 2 sweet tracks that already got played on BBC radio 1 by Seth troxler. The title track is backed by an equally impressive remix by John Daly. Tapping into human emotions, using vocals and touching on an almost neo-romantic feel, Nhar has once again developed his sound further still. Irish producer John Daly takes the blissful original and adds his own touch of progressive rawness. The original's electronica edge is smoothed by Daly's deepness allowing us to be drawn in yet further. John's Dub mix is a stunning piece of beautifull house with an array of kaleidoscopic synths that sweep beautifully and boldly within focus. Serious niceness, this dub mix! Another great Perspectiv release!

Ripperton's wonderful Perspectiv imprint look to kick off their 2011 vinyl releases with the ''Bribe 'em With Candy'' EP. A debut on the label for German duo Motec and Daniel Gelbe under their production pseudonym, Eve White. Some exquisite house tracks on this ep. Lead track Sugarbabe with its velvety tones and chocolate coated Piano chords is the most delicious of starters. Backed brilliantly by its 'timeless' dub. Its the cymbals that initially stand out on Feel Better. The open Hats and Ride shimmer alongside the twinkling keys. Its unique vocal is underlain by an acid line thats contrast to the other elements, is the real key its success. Rounding out the EP is Anything Goes. With Piano's being the instrument of choice for Eve White, its no surprise to find that the ivory rain-drops and warm throb of the Rhodes are key here. This really is the finest of sunset and sunrise territory. Bring on the summer!
