Escort - Cocaine Blues (Crooked Line 2)
Originally released in 2010 on their own label, Brooklyn nu-disco group Escort’s ‘Cocaine Blues’ is lovingly revisited by Glitterbox Recordings over a decade later, re-introducing the dancefloor essential to a new generation of disco fans. A loose remake of disco-reggae classic ‘Cocaine in My Brain’ by Jamaican DJ Dillinger, Escort’s ‘Cocaine Blues’ with its relaxed, disco approach and catchy vocal soon became a hit. Now arriving in a 12” package, up first, legend of NYC’s house and disco scene John Morales delivers his M+M Mix. A long-time friend of Glitterbox, this is John’s first release on the imprint, with the signature sparkling sound that brought him to prominence in the 80s sounding fresh as ever on this remix. Up next, original Escort member JKriv revisits the track on his funk-filled Disco Bumps Mix, before regular Roísín Murphy collaborator Crooked Man delivers his Crooked Line 1 and Crooked Line 2 versions, gloriously deep fuelled by bumping bass and attitude. Crooked Line 2 is exclusive to this 12”. Sounding just as good as it did when it first hit dancefloors, this unmissable vinyl remix package gives ‘Cocaine Blues’ another lease of life.

Escort - Cocaine Blues (Greg Wilson Extended Remix)
Originally released in 2010 on their own label, Brooklyn nu-disco group Escort’s ‘Cocaine Blues’ is now lovingly revisited by Glitterbox Recordings, re-introducing the dancefloor essential to a new generation of disco fans. A loose remake of disco-reggae classic ‘Cocaine in My Brain’ by Jamaican DJ Dillinger, Escort’s ‘Cocaine Blues’ with its relaxed, disco approach and catchy vocal soon became a hit, with this special 12” package featuring Escort’s original and their instrumental, as well as Greg Wilson’s remix, where he takes the stripped-back approach with minimal vocals and enhanced drums. It may have been over a decade since it was first released, but this package still sounds just as good as it did when it first graced dancefloors.

Following the stunning album that (finally) surfaced on Tirk Records last year, seventeen-piece live disco band Escort arrive on sister label Nang via Red Music by popular demand with two of the most prevalent cuts from the album, Caméleon Chameleon & Starlight, remixed by Anglo-Japanese powerhouse Max Essa, and Red Records label boss and Ilija Rudman. Illija's cut of Caméleon Chameleon is as funky as they come, enveloping strains of the originalin his silken synth work and driving dance-floor percussion. Edits of Adeline Michèle's vocal hook are teased in throughout; beautifully done but never deriving from the fact that this is strict dancefloor stuff. Next up, Max Essa delivers a stomping rendition of long time favourite, Starlight. His cut stays true to the original, retaining vibe, funk and feeling, but giving it that subtle injection of House that's just made for peak time at the dance. If you like your disco live, the Escort collective has a couple of UK dates penned in for March / April 2012, so keep em peeled!

Escort have been setting dance floors ablaze with their disco-infused beats, irresistibly catchy hooks and seductive live show since releasing a series of 12" singles in 2006. The 17-member "disco orchestra," founded by producers Eugene Cho and Dan Balis, and fronted by lead singer Adeline Michèle, features an incredible cast of musicians who have played with everyone from indie-rock titans Arcade Fire to avant-classical luminaries Alarm Will Sound. "Caméleon Chameleon" is a theatrical masterpiece about the French serial impostor Frédéric Bourdin, set to a beat that's equal parts Thriller and the Tom Tom Club

Pocket is the snappy moniker of NYC based Richard Jankovich. As the principal creative mind behind the based electro-pop band Burnside Project he is not just well versed in top notch original productions but also is an indemand remixer (Beck, Radiohead, Kristin Hersh, Of Montreal, Elk City, Joanna Newsom and many others). His debut release on Tirk is the ever-so-tuneful ?Here In Noiseville?. In this first single Richard pairs up with Steve Kilbey from the Australian rock band The Church. Steve adds his thoughtful and emotively melancholic vocal to the classic, quality synth-pop backing track. First up on the remix duties is sister-label Nang?s favourite German golden boy, Justus Köhncke. Justus takes things on the dancefloor route, by adding bigger synths and some Rushent-esque Linn drum. Both Justus? vocal and dub versions are included. Next up, Italian Brioski fixates on the groove by adding his slap bass and driving groove.

Morten Sorensen, - Owe That 2 U
After his recent excursion remixing Groove Armada, Morton Sorenson returns to the fold with a stunning little release for Tirk titled ?The Burn Down EP.?
For those that don't know, Morten is in his early twenties and hails from a small fishing village in rural Norway. His Dad probably spent many years in New York and the records that he brought back encouraged a love of American house and disco on the impressionable Morton. 'Burn Down (Original)' is an exercise in uplifting, stripped back house music. Less is more here, the vibe stays rich and never loosens its grip. The rhythms skip on top of the beat and the vocal interludes make for a real vivid experience. The LPZ remix on the other hand sits back a bit, the rhythms are solidly swung and the vocal appears more affluently in the mix. It feels smooth and definitely cool. To top the package, we're served up some chi-town flavours with 'Owe That 2 U.' Sustained strings and a slo-mo shuffle builds, then peels away to a hollowed out organ breakdown. A hauntingly affected vocal and clever edits ensue then drop back into the beat, articulated now by the clack of a tough stacatto synth. In our eyes, a brilliant end to a fantastic package. More
