Motorcitysoul, mainstays of Will Saul’s Simple Records imprint, return with the Ushuaia EP, an ode to the Ibizian beach club of the same name. The EP utilizes the duo’s analogue programming experience and inherent knowledge of all things house to capture the spirit of day & night at the esteemed beach party. Deetron turns up the heat with a stellar, almost anthemic remix on the flip side. Their residency at Cocoon in Frankurt also continues to build and develop a loyal following. In 2008 they released their second full artist album ‘Technique’ with Simple and in recent years they've worked on productions and remixes for Freerange, Aus Music, Infracom, Blaze, Duplex Inc, Re:jazz and Phonique to name just a few. Deetron, aka Sam Geiser, the well-known and dynamic turntablist-styled techno and house dj, hails from Bern, Switzerland. He took his early cues from hip-hop, before being won-over by the early sounds of Chicago and Detroit. In 2006, "Twisted", Deetron's first full length, was released on Music Man Records. This was the start of a long and fruitful relationship between the artist and the Belgium techno label. Since this first release, Deetron has worked on countless productions for labels such as Phont, Hardgroove, Rotation and Intec as well as his inclusion on loads of compilations and mixes. In 2010, Deetron could be found working on a slew of outstanding remixes for Steve Bug, Gel Abril, Randolph, Ezel, Tony Lionni, Patch Park and Toni Aalto. Here, finally, after 4 years they treat you to their second studio album, but also their first album fully written and produced together as a duo (the first album was written by Matthias, and C-Rock helped produce it). Following two very successful releases (.Kazan' and Space Katzle') on Will Saul's Aus Music last year, the guys started putting together an album and Will saw his Simple label as the perfect avenue to release it. After more than six months of intense work and experimentation in the studio .Technique' is now ready. A feast of lush melodies and harmonies, lovingly crafted beats and percussion, ambient excellence and smart vocal numbers. On the album's title C- Rock explains: “It's an elegant word that refers to the way we work and hopefully how our music sounds. We're very technically focused yet we aim for our music to have genuine soul and warmth. We also do everything in the studio so technique is the key to that.” .The Start/Deliver Me' kicks off the journey into the Motorcitysoul sound, enlisting the vocal talents of Swedish vocalist Ernesto to complement the soulful, summer-tinged house grooves. As the lush chords build and the vocals progress, it's clear this uplifting opener is one that'll have you rolling down your car window with a smile on your face. “Maybe it's a risk to start a house based concept album with such a soulful track but we don't have to justify it, because of the soul in our name,” says C-Rock wryly. .Space Kätzle' was originally a hit last year on Aus Music, .Space Cats' (as it translates) sees Matthias and C- Rock use their studio expertise to layer together lavish arpeggios and harmonies that treat you to an almost cosmic house voyage. .Solar' is the first .ode to the cinema soundtrack' offering on the album and sees the guys get experimental in the studio with deep trippy keys layered with mad aquatic sounds. .Change You' sees the guys team up with American vocalist Ovasoul 7 to create a dark and hypnotic house journey with huge club potential. The subtle Rhodes melodies give way to Ovasoul's vocals and a powerful electronic bassline drives the groove forward. The balance between the subtle and soulful and dark and electronic is captured perfectly. .Kazan' gets a 707 drum machine facelift for the album. Matthias and C-Rock went back to their Chicago influenced roots to reshape it into a raw, jackinggroove with enormous energy. .Hatohay' sees the guys working with percussionist Heiko Himmighoffen, giving him free reign to add his percussion to the kick drum and bassline. The result is an intense .wall of percussion' feeling, complemented by the signature .lush motorcitysoul chords'.Hermelin' is a trippy drumless number best listened to in the dark. Kicking off with spooky analogue jolts and sweeping pads, it's joined by a more stabby bassline before some effects are added to give this a real feeling of elegance. .The City' is quite simply classic Motorcitysoul: a driving house groove coupled with soulful melancholy. Bringing in vocalist Marlene Johnson, who's previously worked with C-Rock on his Stir 15 label, .Movement and Motion' is a dub influenced track with simple beats and harmonies that allow the vocals to breathe and shine. To finish off the Motorcitysoul journey is another beautiful ambient moment .Xyz'. Frankfurt based producer, DJ and music lover Martin Heimann presents his debut single "Salto" on Carry On 008. Remaining faithful to its name, the small label puts out another piece of limited wax every once in a long while.
Enrooted in the soundscapes of 80s proto house the original version of "Salto" is a thriving piece of octave liberation. Consistent changes between harmonics break up the repetitive structure, while FM pads and the 303 are performing a little duet.
The release is ennobled by two proper remixes from Moon B (Peoples Potential Unlimited) and Jex Opolis (Good Timin'). While Moon B keeps it bubblin' with some extra analogue funk bounce and subtle Italo dance floor energy, the B-Side is Jexi-fied with some embellishment to the cords, change in the bassline and a nice 808 snap. On top Mr. Opolis adds some mysterious but cheesy vocals samples that match perfect with the moody 80s orchestral stabs.

After a short time out Carry On is back with a new vinyl release by Berlin based producer J.E.E.P. - also known as Jules Etienne. The EP is Jules second solo effort under his new J.E.E.P. moniker. The charismatic original tracks Answering Machine and Pager are backed up with club friendly reinterpretations of the title track done by the two befriended Berlin sound magicians Quarion and Iron Curtis. Quite rightly labelled one of Berlin's best kept musical secrets, Jules is an ambitious multi-instrumentalist, singer and a composer. Unable to settle down into a music genre he is part of numerous enthusiastic projects ranging from folky pop to disco and house. For his most recent releases he teamed up with people like Daniel Wang, Massimiliano Pagliari (Egyptian Nipples) and Quarion (The Hints).

After a small hiatus Matthias Vogt and C-Rock finally got back together in the studio to present another Motorcitysoul masterpiece and convincing follow-up to last years Carry On single. The song features conspicuous vocals by the drumming singer-songwriter Phil Fill making it an eager and exhilarating confession to the playground love. The remixes of Lithuanian standout producer Mario Basanov contribute pure dancefloor magic. While the Vocal Remake offers a sentimental 80s disco feast, the Remix version is riding his distinctive Vilnius deep house vibe. A promising foretaste to Basanov's upcopming full length album "Journey".

There's something happening, it's in the air tonight… Chasing Kurt return to Carry On with a love injecting two track EP. While the original tracks 'In The Air' and 'Galaxy Hero' enthuse because of their emotional deepness, the revised vocal-less versions of Phillip Lauer and Deep Space Orchestra are nailing it down seductively on the dancefloor. The release will be available on limited coloured vinyl in September 2012. Chasing Kurt is a deep house project from Germany brought to life by the producer team Pascal Blanché and Wojtek Kutschke featuring the heartfelt lyrics of polish soul crooner Lukas Poloczek. Their debut single 'Daydream' on Carry On earned a lot of appreciating feedback in 2010 like Laurent Garnier's praise: "This is superb, such a lovely deepness." Their second single 'Money' on Good Ratio Music took them even further in 2011. The low slung, dark and exhorting track climbed to #12 of the Groove Magazin charts and was picked by standout producer Maya Jane Coles for her episode of the famous DJ Kicks series.

Never not working, Elef well deserved has become one of the closest watched talents in the deep house scene. Born half Greek / half supermodel the Berlin based producer has dropped some remarkable releases on Dirt Crew, Murmur and Hypercolour. In an act of reciprocal affection Elef and Carry On joined forces to create the lovely Nuff Said EP, soon to be available on limited coloured vinyl. The EP kicks off with "Black Hole" featuring Elef's signature melodramatic chord structure, some quirky percussion and a captivating Motown vocal sample. The incredible Gerd remix will end up in a lot of record cases - a dancefloor no brainer! On the flip "Nuff Said" incorporates an old school bassline with those beautiful emotional chords again. The ambitious UK trio Zoo Look strips it all back to what deep house really is nowadays - a groovy squarebass and atmospheric pads.

South West Seven is Disco, Jazz Funk, Soul & Boogie with a Deep House twist – all rehashed, re-edited and fused by Northern Irish production duo Ric McClelland (better known as Scope) & Sean Grieve. The duo kicked things off with their debut release on Detroit's Kolour Limited in autumn 2010. The beautiful three track vinyl ep was favoured by the likes of The Revenge, Cottam or Iron Curtis and propelled South West Seven straight into the underground limelight. Since then they have also delivered some excellent re-edits, available free on their Soundcloud. Here we have their second release ’Mels Pockets’ which comes once again on limited coloured vinyl and complete with a dream team on remix duties. The original cut is a slow grooving musical ride with true soul, emotion and sincerity. A must in any real DJ's box!
