Tracklist EP: A1. Stab The Slab B1. Zaafaran B2. I Say
Whether he is headlining at nightclubs or playing a marathon set for an underground afterhours event, Elon has a key asset in shaping New York's vibrant underground music scene. And with this new EP, Stab the Slab, he effortlessly showcases the sophistication in the style and sound which has earned him this central positioning in both NYC and beyond. Since his first release in 2006 on Made to Play, Elon has produced several successful EPs and remixes on labels such as Get Physical, Clink, Dumb-Unit and Metroline. His releases, like Bummalo with Maceo Plex, Noose and Fuck Cuba EPs have received global support which led to the launch of his own imprint, ReSolute Label in 2011. On 'Stab the Slab', Elon has laid down layers of pitch-bending cow bells, wandering arpeggios - building to crescendo - bright chimes and energetic percussion, undercut with grooving basslines that venture to the deeper, dark side of his sound. The slabs are there to be stabbed.

A1. Freak Back A2. Got Ya, Tiger! B1. Got Ya, Tiger! (Alex Celler Broken Circuit Dub)
Elon make with the DIY vibes on the smart EP. Fans of Live Jam releases, listen up! On the title track sharp cuts, tight bursts of sound and loose percussion combine into a complex rhythm that is kept in check by a nice tumbling bassline. Jazz breaks hit the speakers with Got Ya, Tiger! Like a night out in Soho in 1962 brought back to life on an MPC. The bruising bassline just shouts "Dance Or I'll Kick You In The Guts". Alex Celler's Broken Circuit Dub of Got Ya, Tiger! ramps up that kicking a notch. All those bruising elements are still there, but the guy grinds those jazz breaks up in his big metal jaws and spits out a gobful of twisted future. And you're gonna like it! Elon team up with Stefny on Téo, which finishes the EP. And you can feel her effect - she clearly loves a cheeky little synth line, because there are plenty of them here... squalking, meeping and dooping in perfect harmony to create a nice trancey brainfeeder. Nice.

New York's Elon provides Metroline with yet another very fine release. Clap Back is a real gem. The original mix has a beautiful spacious and airy mix that allows the echo-soaked toms and the swirling vox stabs to breathe, and they really draw you in. An insistent bass pulse provides a structure for the snappy post-garage percussion to build into a lurching, lunging rhythm. Very original, and very infectious. Ekkohaus' remix is a focused, driving deep house groove, shaped around lush, rounded stabs and heavily-filtered synths. Claps and snare emerge from the beautifully balanced mix to give the track a real disco kick. The third track on the EP Zero Gravity has a more back-to-basics feel. The bassline is dubby, but the percussion has a classic French Touch feel that gives the track real movement. A Rhodes-like synth line wraps itself round the track like a warm fuzzy blanket. Maximum comfort for house heads.

Dumb Unit returns to the race with a powerful new EP by Italian heavyweights Clockwork & Avatism. Revealing their skill at collaboration the four tracks on the Archetype EP are a compelling take on the increasingly musical side of techno. Both slow and brooding, yet with the direct propulsion needed to move bodies, the Archetypes EP is a moody thriller perfect for the warm nights approaching.

Stylistically different from their previous releases, the Dynasty II EP is a catchy, propulsive and perhaps at times even romantic release. Providing four energetic songs of varying mood, the EP proves that the boys can always deliver. The EP Included Cesare's road tested "What Do U Want", A straightforward old school banger with deep distorted synths and a monster vocal hooks. The track is then also remixed by both Jeremy & Cesare adding both depth and character to the already powerful original. Ê On the A side is whereÊthe power and dynamism of Cesare and Jeremy's first full collaboration lies. "YOUNG PRETENDERS" : A booming ode to late night hedonism that busts open with energy and dynamism. A song that demonstrates how important collaboration can be ; when rules are broken , personal sonic prejudices are put aside and fun is deemed to be king.
