London based imprint WetYourSelf! will release the ‘Appiness’ L.P by British duo APP this ?, the first long player for the label and an incredibly unique body of work. The WetYourSelf! Recordings imprint was born out of the infamous Sunday events, WetYourSelf! at London’s leading nightclub fabric, and here the label pushes forward with a long player from the APP outfit, the collaborative work of Peter Pixzel and August Jakobsen. The duo have previously released material on some driving forces in the industry, namely Diynamic, Kindisch, Watergate and 3rd Floor, picking up support along the way from the likes of Axel Boman, Deetron, Ivan Smagghe and Matthew Dear to name a few. The ‘Appiness’ L.P boasts a broad spectrum of styles, always embracing a forward thinking and experimental feel, brilliantly displaying the proficient production abilities of the duo. Kicking things off is ‘Appstinence feat. Georgina Lovey’ which employs a combination of stripped drums, psychedelic guitar licks and tripped-out synthesized elements. ‘Soma’ follows, staying on a similar tip, with low- slung drums and intricate synth melodies, while ‘Inter’ offers up a brilliant contrast, drawing the focus away from percussion and bringing stunning melodies to the forefront for a beautiful interlude piece. App team up with The French Edge for four cuts on the LP, namely ‘Friends’, ‘My Girl’, ‘Crushed’ and ‘City Mouse’, the results are four curious records built around straight 4/4 drums, abstract bass tones, complex processing and new wave 80’s inflected vocals to create stunning, sophisticated cuts. Further highlights come in the shape of ‘Push It’, with its gritty acidic vibe, and ‘That Bitch feat. Tuhin Chisti & Graziella’ which takes on the format of a dropped tempo, lo-fi number. Then, winding down the album the duo turn in ‘Paper Tiger’ and ‘Magic’, cleverly drawing things to a close and showcasing Jakobsen’s Jazz influences. ‘Paper Tiger’ sees the duo opt for retro sax licks, seemingly improvised Rhodes melodies and jazz guitar licks all infused with the loose percussive theme of the album. While ‘Magic’ opts for a simple yet effective stabbing synth hook, subtly tweaked to great effect. Then closing the album ‘Outrovert’ steps in as the perfect finishing piece, with its smooth and profound ambient depth. This is yet another stunning release as expected from WetYourSelf! Over a year since the duo debuted with the Marc Houle remixed 'All I Can Think About', App returns to its WYS! home with the sort of sleek electronic house with organic nods that echoes the duo's respective backgrounds in DJing and classically trained musicianship. The delicately constructed yet powerful title track sets the scene on 'Breathe Love', with staccato drums and pleasing sine-wave bleeps providing an unobtrusive yet solid framework for pitched vocals and increasingly baroque melodies to create a refreshingly light piece of emotive house. WYS! and former Minus artist Fabrizio Maurizi is the first artist tasked to remix 'Breathe Love' and does so with minimal fuss. Italian Maurizi handles the original melodies and aesthetics respectfully but, by using some simple one-hit textures and rhythmic shifts alongside deft atonal effects, he delivers a decidedly moodier piece of electronic funk that instantly gives off a late night feel.BPitch favourite Thomas Muller drops the second remix on offer and adopts a more radical approach than Maurizi. Rough, loose rhythms and wide, shattering kick drums dominate an airtight groove that wraps itself around the delayed vocal snippets of the original, with Muller using a seemingly endless arsenal of percussive trickery to continually add weight – this is no shrinking violet.

"Memory" is the new solo EP from WYS! co owner and resident Jacob Husley.The originals warm atmosphere is broken up by a darker bass stab, a dreamy vocal floats on top of the underlying bouncy sub bass. The track builds and breaks finally dropping into a harder groove with busy 909 claps sprayed on top. Glimpses remix strips the track down and adds his own trademark warm dusty kick drums and percussion. The vocal gets pitched down, resulting in "one of those" special tracks that can be dropped anytime guaranteed and tested to groove and get the dance floor moving. “The Second track is called Madeira . Its where i got married" The Madeira Original is created using a lot of quirky live elements such as drumsticks being played on the studio table and Jacob finger tapping on a old cello. Its steady deep dubby bass line gets the track rolling to a climax where two synth lines slowly intertwine before finally unifying. The drop breaks into the resolution, exposing the clearing mood of the rest of the track. Axel Boman's remix is unique and true to form. His humour and playfulness maximises the originals love and warmth .A very personal intro directed to Mr Husley himself is reminiscent of a prankster drunken message you might vaguely remember getting on your answer machine after a night out. The track offers a fresh bassline with a more energetic housey feel. Elements of the original synth lines floating on top.
