Cosmo Vitelli, I’m a Cliché’s founder and head, heard the voice of our unruly feet after taking us on a long car journey with Bot’Ox. Night Dogs is his first solo EP in a long time. And he’s back to the dancefloor with an unexpectedly nervous pace. Night Dogs: The main track is a disco-core nocturnal chase, a dark hi-nrg anti-anthem. It features vocals in Korean by visual artist and musician Nakion who has just released an album on Tigersushi records. Running Backwards: For this one, Cosmo goes techno. Get a drink and let your shoes lead you backward. You’ll get a picture of the track’s both dizzy and self-assured feeling. Night Dogs (Daniel Maloso remix): Daniel Maloso of the Hispanic-electronic Cómeme community fame, applies his unquiet dog beats to the track: hard bones and twisted muscles. Night Dogs (Tim Paris remix): Tim Paris from Paris-London, half of It’s a Fine Line with Ivan Smagghe and half of Challenge with Pete Herbert, gets emotional here. It’s like some indie art-rock band playing, though you’re still dancing.

Cosmo Vitelli - Irritable
After the major success of Part 1, Cosmo Vitelli & Malka Tuti are presenting Holiday in Panikstrasse Part 2, the 2nd and ?nal part of Cosmo’s 2XLP on the label. After collaborating with Fantastic Twins on Part 1, the amazing Julienne Dessagne’s vocals are back on Part 2 as well for the opening track Fragments of Reality. Another collaboration on the record is with Croatian singer and vocalist Tanja Vezic, whom we’ve already seen collaborating with Cosmo on his Les Disque De La Mort release, and who gives a cinematic sort of feeling to the track Party old boy. With “He just wanted to hang out with the DJs” Cosmo creates a slow burning dark banger that will not go unnoticed. The ?nal track Irritable is the perfect mixture between German Krautrock heritage and the French disco-synth touch of the 80s - emotional, growing and cathartic, one cannot stay indifferent to it.

Cosmo Vitelli - Un Episode Psychotique (GOTT Creatio Instrumentalis)
It has been a long time coming, LDDLM is more than happy to welcome a house friend, Cosmo Vitelli. This EP is a complement to the recent (and forthcoming) Malka Tuti releases, coherent fragments of a creative year. If Cosmo is known for his wavey-krautey (I have no other words) productions going back to the Bot’ox days, he also has a meaner side. The aptly titled “Un Episode Psychotique” is disco gone wrong, italo with neurosis, straying from polished clichés, musical yet strangely anxiogen. It is turned into an Eighties monster by GOTT aka Sneaker and Scannoir. Their Creatio Instrumentalis is a cold funk monster and their Creatio Continualis amps up the EBM factor. How does one translate Giallo in Croat? “Tisja” may answer the question, the spoken words of Tanja Vežic burning through the celluloid. Finally, “The Shy Dictator” is like an early Chemical Brothers breakbeat monster, powerful yet psychedelic, canalised fury of bells and drums.

cosmo vitelli - El Si Sen~or (Soundtrack Version)
A1: When Suddenly : Acid, With Cosmo Vitelli’s trademark style being eclectism, it’s pointless to pin down this track to a specific genre. Borrowing from the kind of disco not disco and acid-without-303 vibes that I’m a Cliché is famous for, this is an instantly gratifying tune where synthesizers are engaged in call and response melodies in an elegant take on the idea of machine funk. The result is catchy, refreshing and primed for the dancefloor. A2: El Si Señor (Skinny version) If you think this track is just a tool, then you’re only getting half of the picture. Skinny but chock-full of melodic and percussive content with a plodding rhythmic section moving at around 105 BPM. This is a downtempo track where heartfelt melodies, sound effects, and pristine seamless arrangements are used with great results by Cosmo Vitelli. B1:The Cemetery of Unsigned House Tracks
Clocking at 9 minutes, don’t get fooled by the track’s tongue-in-cheek title, we’re dealing here with a seriously epic tune. Set in an endlessly rising motion, the track begins with a refined but twisted vibe, sparse but ominous guitars and plenty of FX. Gradually, an infectious synth arpeggio rises and carries with it the whole track, some sort of hypnotic and sensual monster, utterly irresistible on the dancefloor. B2: El Si Señor (Soundtrack Version) With melodies that are more expansive and at the fore, leaving the rhythmic section discernible but clearly in the background, this version of El Si Senor is a reference to 70s film music, and this bittersweet tune closes the EP in style. I’m a Cliché’s first release of 2016 comes from label boss Cosmo Vitelli. After a five year hiatus during which he was kept busy by his band Bot’Ox and relocating from Paris to Berlin, this is the very first release to come out of his new studio located in Berlin’s Marzahn district.

Dysfunction, Hannulelauri’s first EP on I’m a Cliché goes beyond the dreamy, cosmic atmosphere of their previous releases and remixes on other eurodisco labels. The duo’s new sound still sends us floating but with an edgier, more toxic ride. Hannu and Lauri aka Hannulelauri created a track for I’m a Cliché, a remix of Bot’Ox’s hit “Blue Steel”. This track inspired the label to make more room for the Finnish duo and bring their new music into its discography. These two have been active figures in Helsinki’s club scene for quite a while, producing music together since 2006. When they crossed the borders of Finland, the name of the band was pretty hard to retain but it didn’t take long for all the bigwigs of modern disco to memorize it. Two originals and a selection of remixes: Dysfunction steps into the territory of deep melodic house with a classic resonance Box of Box throws around some fun rough beats Toby Tobias’ remix of Dysfunction is iced with elegance and soulfulness Populette’s remix of Box of Box is the new best friend of house dancers.
