Following two impressive outings in 2015 on Nina Kraviz endearing ???? label, K-Hand returns home to her own Acacia Records label for the Project 6 EP. The release opens with a grimy, ever-evolving techno-acid number first debuted in K-Hand's Boiler Room Detroit set, receiving massive track ID requests — hence the name "Boiler Room Teaser." Not merely inter webs tested and approved, it's also a proven standout track during her DJ sets around the world, like at Concrete in Paris. Shifting gears on "You Stepped Right," K-Hand delivers a catchy, cutup disco ear worm with more great energy, albeit of a different kind. Book-ending the release is the infectious groove driven "Live," a no-nonsense, chuggy house track with major tech appeal and intense buildups of looped, atmospheric sounds. Big, bold, and unrelenting!

K-Hand, the undisputed "first lady" of Detroit house and techno, continues her series of rereleases for some of Acacia Records' most sought after catalog. Acacia's reputation as ''music from a well known place to an unknown destination'' precedes it with a reach that is once again being expanded upon. Originally making its mark in 1993, "Not Giving Up" is a piano chord led number with eccentric disco era falsetto vocals interspersed between a house diva counterpart, all undercut by equally classic rough around the edges low end - touching on Hand's influences from the New York golden days. The Plastic Dream mix is a more sinister springboard of sounds with an urgent energy sure to rip through speaker stacks and leave audiences in shreds. Easily its dreamiest incarnation, the Disco Dream adaptation lends itself to bouncier, filtered grooves and vocal dubs. The ghetto growl of "Beat That Bitch Wit a Stick" was and still remains a huge track for K-Hand and the label. Pulling from a sound that originated in Chicago, it became equally prominent in Detroit through the work of Hand and others. Its accompanied here by an Instrumental version for those that don't share in the street logic, but nonetheless love the gritty production style. Finally, the legendary Claude Young's mix of "Deep Down 2" sees him implementing wavering chords and loopy vocals with a purposefully loose NYC stutter.

New music from K-HAND, the First Lady of Detroit techno, is always a welcome sight, especially when it's on her own highly regarded Acacia label. Before diving fully into the new material, a remix of her familiar classic "Everybody" welcomes listeners to the Intuition EP. TomMy Largo takes it on, paying a lot of respect to the 1993 original in keeping much of its sharp edges intact, but he breathes new life into it using filters and chops to break up its predecessor's relentlessness and deliver something more dynamic, if only slightly, for the modern audience. "Intuition" follows, creating an infectious techno groove out of pulsating synth notes and an underlying bass sequence, both accented by a latin hand percussion swing, but with sounds teased out of machines. The rhythmic base is topped off with urgent and undulating synths of a modular feel as different effects crash in and out, ultimately climaxing in regal chords. "Calling" rounds things out in a menacing slab of techno. It starts with just a kick before layering on harder and harder elements as it builds with industrial scale distortion, delay, and reverb. Fitting right in with the rest of the release, it's a real run away train of sound.
