daniel stefanik - jolly green giant
Tracklist:
A. It Might Drizzle Until September (Original Mix) B. Jolly Green Giant (Original Mix)
Short info:
Dissonant is proud to welcome Daniel Stefanik who had delivered a string of modern, refined production with essential albums and singles, throughout his career. On this release,"Aftermath EP", he offers up two tracks that strike a perfect note between cerebral intrigue and instinctive deep house groove, channeled into an unforgettable and timeless quality. “It Might Drizzle Until September", is a truly heartfelt piece throughout its keynotes and dubby gestures. The combination of subtle rhythmic elements and strong, ever-developing melodies is the perfect example of the passion and power that can be worked into house and techno. A stronger beat punches through on “Jolly Green Giant" but the soothing, sensual synth lines remain giving space for dubby effects and delicate details to feed into the mix. More

2
daniel stefanik - i wonder
Tracklist: (A1) Twilight Zone (B1) I Wonder
Info:
Daniel Stefanik is back on the track and it seems even stronger than ever before! After his cocoon album release "confidence" and the associated remixes (by Mr. G, Adam Port, Legowelt and Matthias Kaden) Stefanik presents a true tech-house-monster as a dignified return to the label. With "Twilight Zone" Stefanik moves away from his Detroit influenced background but stays true to his oldskool flavoured vibe. It is less dub and rooms here but more acid power that makes us move. Wild 909 beats and an overall atmosphere that is dry as a bone let this one communicate pure musical madness. This one rocks floors like thunderstorms. Label head and cocoon master Sven Väth proved this in his gigs over the last weeks and months as "Twilight Zone" was one of his sets climax moments every time he dropped it. "I Wonder" on the other side breathes the air of Octave One's "Blackwater" merged with cool and dubby Basic Channel influences. Stefanik is back in his very own style based on his musical heroes and forms a big techn-house piece out of all the ingredients and influences. This one was made to be played in clubs, soon, at the next gig and loud…and often!

daniel stefanik - illuminations
UPC: 827170556768 Release: 04.08.2014
Tracklist: (A) Signs (B) Illuminations
Info:
Stefanik is a phenomenon! On the one side he is that crazy-cool party animal with amazing DJ-skills. His DJ-sets feature a wide variation of techno-, house- and minimal tunes all mixed up in a fresh and easy way that almost no one can escape from. On the other side he is this über-talented producer who sometimes doesn't sound like his DJ-sets at all. On his recent album for Cocoon Recordings Stefanik painted musical pictures of different moods and for different moments. A soundtrack for people living in the modern club world of cities like Berlin or London. Days of joy and sun vs. grey and cold mornings or foggy and dusty club nights, there was something for everybody and every moment. However with his new release on Cocoon Recordings Stefanik proofs how versatile he is as a producers by creating a vibe that refers more to his DJ-sets. Stefanik melts down different club music ingredients to one unique mix here. We hear influences from Detroit, Chicago and Berlin mixed up in identical quantities. Deeper house meet masculine basslines ("Signs") and pitched-up Inner-City-like-beats merge with driving hi-hats and chopped up vocal-samples before the whole arrangement receives a proper 90s UK-styled synthesizer-polish ("Illuminations"). This is big, this is pure and it breathes energy. Thanx Mr. Stefanik for this nice mix-up of 25 years of house and techno however all sounding fresh and modern. This only works with technomusic kids!

Tracklist: (A1) Confidence - Adam Port Remix; (A2) Keep On - Mathias Kaden's Brother In Crime Remix; (B1) Confidence - Mr. G's Warm Mix; (B2) Bend the Rules - Legowelt Remix
Daniel Stefanik generated some buzz this year with his latest album release on Cocoon Recordings. And he prooved with a number of outstanding DJ-sets over the last weeks that he progressed to a well respected and some of the "most wanted" artists around. We are happy to have the Leipzig house hero aboard and we are proud to announce the long awaited remix-12" featuring remixes by Adam Port, Mr. G, Mathias Kaden and Legowelt. All four delivered outstanding mixes and we are not only saying this because we have to. Let's begin with Adam Port's remix for "Confidence" in which he delivers a real deep and housey gem with cool Moodyman-like elements. The dark bassline could also be found in a Carl-Craig-Mix and creates a deep arrangement with lots of space and room. However don't sit back and relax as Adam Ports manages it to conjure a hedonistic and energetic tune that will for sure set floors on fire this summer! Although this Adam Port remix seems to be different to the ones we know at first glance it turns out to be one of his best works ever so far! Another "Adam Port sure shot!" >>> Mathias Kaden, Stefanik's dj-partner-in-crime, builds his remix for "Brothers in Crime" on a very solid and pumping NY-housebeat that creates a decent amount of power and energy. The synths and the dub chords on top make this arrangement complete and close to perfection when it comes to merge house and techno. This one will be heard in many DJ-sets this summer for sure! >>> Mr. G is following the house route here, too however he creates an atmosphere closer to the one on Stefanik's album. He incorporates more oldskool elements such as straight forward 909-hihats and cymbals which results in a driving piece of housemusic. The filtered strings on top create a dark and foggy club vibe like we know it from the good old days of dirty house music. >>> Last but not least there is Legowelt with another remix. And no surprise Legowelt focus on the technoid and crazy side of house and techno. 16th hihats, space sounds and analogue synth-action form a mix that refers strongly to the high days of Detroit Techno. A crazy piece of music that could fit into a modern Sci-Fi-Soundtrack and almost deserves the rating "Meisterwerk". On top a very welcome addition to this über-house-package!

Daniel Stefanik is one of THE Techno and House newcomers of the last years. His carefreeness as a DJ behind the decks and his likeable appearance are literally distinctive for a new generation of young, down-to-earth producers from Germany, which are the result of the influence of Väth, Villalobos and Hawtin on the one side, and solid but hedonistic House on the other. Whereas many producers nowadays have dedicated themselves to only one musical direction, the influence of Kerri Chandler, Chez Damier or Kevin Saunderson is clearly noticeable in Stefanik's music. His longplay debut for Cocoon Recordings is a mirror of all these influences and yet it's so up-to-date and contemporary like only few other Techno and House albums today.

His longplay debut for Cocoon Recordings is a mirror of all these influences and yet it's so up-to-date and contemporary like only few other Techno and House albums today.
As the name already suggests, "Entrance" is the gate to Stefanik's club world, the door into the night and to the dancefloors of the hedonistic but nevertheless gloomy metropolises of this world. "Entrance" breathes influences from Detroit and Underground Resistance. Not again this pseudo-deep Loop House, or even another definition of Minimal, but a production with depth and substance, however, without cramping or wanting too much. The perfect start of a long, cool night - the sound that opens the gates to another world. "Light On" targets the beat for the first part of the night and follows an almost East German approach, if you like. House music like it's been served by Marvin Dash or Dub Taylor for many years: no hands-up attacks and no overproduced U.S. influences from New York, but slightly raw with an eye for the essentials: the kicking beat and the atmosphere from 1 a.m. on.
"1996" is the next hint of Stefanik's influences and references. Dave Clark and Slam say hello from the background and also the Detroit House scene around Jeff Mills and his early AXIS productions can be recognised here. The kicking 909, the demanding beat and the gloomy-like filters don't sound like Germany at all. And with "Port Of Transition", Stefanik consequently follows the path he took before. Breakbeat elements melt together with Detroit beats and arpeggios into a timeless mix. In a blind test, it is rather impossible to allocate this track to a certain time period. This is a proper universal weapon for all the Techno DJs of this world. "Distillery" is a short break, going back to more feeling and layers of sound, and back to more House beats - the sound that has been characteristic for one of Leipzig's best clubs for many years. House with a bang, so to say, not too happy, not too greasy. The perfect soundtrack to let yourself go into a night that has just begun, to become one with the club and to leave daily life behind you. A very successful homage to East Germany's most important club over the last twenty years!
"Bend The Rules" leads the listener on his journey away from Leipzig and to Berlin, into its long Panoramabar nights and its hypnotic, almost trance-influenced dance marathons, where the slowly rising sun is channelling its way through half-closed shutters and the sweat-soaked, smoky air. "Bend The Rules" is the club and music karma of such nights - condensed into one single sentence. Anything goes, everything is possible and nothing sticks to the common rules.
Of course, being an eyewitness of these nights with the respective music and atmosphere sometimes lets you end up a little out of it and a little dopey - in other words: "Dazed And Confused". The soundtrack for a long walk home, when the club has extracted all your energy... You walk through the Berlin sun and the chilling morning air, yet bathed in sweat - or simply down to the river where the next party is already starting... coming back down... close your eyes without sleeping... DAZED AND CONFUSED!
This is where the transition to eternity is created, to the never ending party, to just carry on. And there's no hedonism needed from the early morning until noon, only the atmosphere is what counts! This very special mood in between the brisk wind, the blazing sun and people that have been seemingly with you for the whole night. "Keep On" puts all this in a nutshell: a beer in your hand and the after hour dancefloor in focus - Stefanik got it exactly! The last track, "Confidence", represents the final chapter of a long and varied night, the soundtrack for Berlin in the year 2012, full of Detroit and House classics, and full of quotes from almost 20 years of House and Techno history. And with pride and confidence, Stefanik can be 100% sure that he succeeded in making this album exactly what he had in mind: capturing the soundtrack of a generation - or better: of a lifestyle. With "Confidence", Stefanik releases us on our way home in a very relaxed mood. By taxi, by train or by foot, this is the self-discovery of a Techno raver heading home, off the party and right into recreation... The next weekend is bound to come.

Together with Matthias Tanzmann and the 'Freude am Tanzen' crew, Daniel Stefanik belongs to the most reliable initiators of electronic dance music in East Germany. The fact that the readers of Groove Magazine have voted Daniel one of the best newcomers in 2010 - despite his more than 75 releases on Mobilée, Statik Entertainment, Moon Harbour or Dessous - may be due to his fantastic remix of the Ubertrack "No Worries", that has been played, together with Butch's original version, on literally every deck between Ibiza, Frankfurt and London in the past months. "Night Watch", the title track of Stefanik's Cocoon debut, is another true manifesto for the bass drum, which repeatedly jumps to the track's front relentlessly within the nine minutes playtime, rising from mysterious breaks, percussive beat fabrics and melancholic harmony intermezzi. The flip side "#2" finally receives its very special energy from the rhythmic salvation of the steadily increasing snares, it's a phenomenal "drum dance" in the true sense of the word and another proof for the fact that maximum acceleration can also derive from reduced aesthetics.
