The Mole, Guilty Pleasures, - Rotation
For INT011 we once again bring you the ridiculously funny and quite talented Colin aka The Mole this time joined by close friends under the moniker Guilty Pleasures. This is what he's got to say. In his own words....
wow, it's finally out. shit it has been a long time coming. hmm i think this might be my first one sheet. i always laugh at these things. not because they are actually funny but probably because my sense of humour is ...well anyway that doesn't matter ...let's get to it..
family. man have i ever been waiting for this to come out. me and sophie. and a few others who keep on asking ... thanks for asking ! i love this song. probably next to the modern deep left record it's the thing i am most proud of. i feel overwhelmingly proud to have been lucky enough to work with people as talented as sophie trudeau and danuel tate on this song. those two are so heavy i'm still a little in shock. don't believe me just look up sophie's cv. heavy duty mama. now i'm wondering what to write without babbling on and on. this is a one sheet after all and i don't think many people read these right? so if you are reading this... pre-order lots of copies!! you be so glad when it gets into car commercials and a hugh grant rom-com and you can say you saw the potential and sold 400 copies out of your little store. well maybe that's a little far fetched. i don't think i'd be proud of spotting the next rom-com theme song. but you should still take the chance and sell hundreds. i think it is shit hot. i'm super proud of it (again i'm saying it). both sides. though of course family is and has been the big fish for some time now. did i already say i've been waiting more than 2 years for this to come out? suddenly i feel like i'm at the oscars... i'd like to thank sophie .. for being super cool and doing such excellent work and really being there with me finishing ever little detail on this monster. i'd like to thank dan ...for letting me cut his solo 'with a rusty knife'. mom. of course. though she'll never hear this i'm sure. mom if you're out there reading this now don't go and download the song... just ask me i'll send you a copy. i'm sure you'll be impressed. i'm also sure she's not reading this. she would never read a one sheet. i wanted this record to come out with a different band name because it is a collaboration. with tyger dhula and dan and sophie. but thomas insisted on using the mole cause he thought it would sell more records. but buyers don't really care about names do they? i guess some do. but really it is the music that counts in the end isn't it? supposed to. i see it in my sales so it must be true. the song sucks it doesn't sell well. i mean really let's be serious thomas... you think 'mole' is going to sell more records? maybe it is just easier to sell..in a digital world sure... if i bought something digital i guess i would need to see the name of the artist or label. and i suppose even i must admit that the world is getting more and more digital. but....! i don't buy that shit. i'm not interested in buying digital. can't hold it. smell it. climb into bed and snuggle with it. besides i still count on the grumpy store clerk (i love you bud. don't you go changing). i need that guy to pull out what's hot this week. because that is how i get stuff from names i don't know. from labels i don't know. but alas i digress and this is neither the time nor the place is it? i'm suppose to be selling this record to you. or at least giving you whatever info might be missing. not telling you that i don't like the digital revolution and you'll never truly appreciate the warmth and depth of the strings with an mp3. those are real strings by the way. sophie played ever line- whole song. you can hear the a log in the fire snapping in the background on one of the passes. maybe on the mp3 you won't hear the reverb of the snap up in the chimney but who the hell cares about that right?.....fuck it i do! ...ok ok i am being difficult here but can't a guy get upset sometimes. i'm tired of hearing everyone defending digital djs. i'm standing up damn it. and i'm saying it sucks! there you go.. let's burn all the serato and scratch machines! like that night in 79 in comiskey park. let's all chant disco sucks. sorry i mean digital. let's have a digital burn out. ... i'm stealing this idea from koosh by the way but if i didn't share you'd never know how clever he is. ok ok.....full stop... back to the task at hand. this record is a collaboration between A-side sophie trudeau and the mole(me when it's late at night) with a solo by danuel tate B-side between tyger dhula, danuel tate and the mole (me again!)
both songs are years old by now... neither dan nor pat had kids when we did rotation so the b-side must be at least 4 or 5 years old.. that's about it then please don't come up to me late at night telling me digital is this and you can't do that with records... i know it. i heard it. and i don't want to fight with strangers. i mean it. ...i will fight you... buy this record sorry about the rant thomas.. maybe you can edit it so it'll sell better... colin(berlin 11th of november 2009)
