Here we come with an EP that will happily surprise many. We are honoured to (re)introduce no stranger to the underground circuit, Troy Geary aka Mr. DJ Slip. He has been involved in the scene longer than many remember, with countless hits on some of the best record labels to date. Here we present a timeless, bone-grilling track with remixes by none other than Argentinian madman, Franco Cinelli and an abstract remake by our Mikael Stavostrand. This will be the first release in our new series called “ReVision” within Thema’s Catalogue where we will be re-issuing some classics with remixes by the new breed of movers and shakers as well as past heroes. We are honoured to be able to work with some of these artists and we feel it will also give some of this music a second life within the vast bloated world of forgettable “track-of-the-month” releases. Know your past and you will know where the future is. And speaking of the past, with summer upon us here in Brooklyn, we’re stealing a moment of quiet reflection before being swallowed in the madness that is post-Vernal Equinox-New York City. This loop in time has us circling somewhere around 1999. It’s only important because that’s when DJ Slip’s mighty “Available Light” first assailed us wide-eyed surface dwellers. It’s a sly yet unassuming hulk of a timelessness that goes out the way it came in: stone-faced, head down, eyes closed... not saying much because it doesn’t have to. You know the type. Señor Franco Cinelli has unravelled the original, exposing the light within, working the pumping bassline of the original into a shapely creature that sprawls across Slip’s incandescent expanse. This remake will tickle the fancy of those that enjoy the big room sensual bass line mayhem. You have been warned! On the flip: Mikael Stavostrand returns!!! ...and it appears that he’s just come back from safari as well. You see, Mikael went ahead and used the source material here as the backbone for his own unwritten tale of subterranean jungle survival. We think. In any case, this is indeed the wet and feral offspring of a consummate master and a young, fresh-faced mad craftsman.
