Hot on the heels of the successful introductory EP on Serialism comes the second instalment on the label: "Unaestethic Gossips EP"; this time again offering some delightful grooves that will be appreciated both by the dance floor crowd and home listeners. Nicely starting off the EP is Berlin based Greek producer Ekkohaus - on his second tune for the label with a very Detroit-influenced track, massive elements of Groove and Funk, exploding half-way through and teasing the listener as the snare/clap comes in on the half beat. This tune will be largely enjoyed by both techno and house fanatics. Next one on the list is Italian Marco Shuttle, offering a slightly different approach with his deep, long & repetitive journey of soft synth chords and elegant elements that remind of Cadenza releases, providing a perfect tune for the after-hours or stylish warm up. On the flip we find ourselves with a huge tune from Queen Atom, perfect for the peak time hours in those big packed club rooms: a combination of Detroit-esque Funk, with trippy back melodies and percussive 909 toms waving through the atmosphere, resulting in a dark yet groovy slow-tempo techno piece. Strikingly finishing off the EP is Argentinean artist Rudolf, already known for his previous releases on STHLM, who delivers an enormous experimental track with intensely layered vocal melodies: Eerie, ghostly and combined with many industrial aspects, the result is an immense bubbly, watery track that will indisputably drive clubbers insane throughout the globe.

“Few artists have touched the sound of Serialism like Katie Drover. Deep beyond all measure. Ethereal. Pure. Hailing from Melbourne but now living in Berlin, Katie – also head of the finest Dokutoku Records – is one of our favourites out there, and she’s back with “Inside Out” EP, another classy and elegant release. On the remix side, we welcome maestro Maher Daniel who makes his Serialism debut with a hefty remix.
Kicking off with “Done Deal”, the track unveils along rigid 909 patterns and resonating synths, shimmering and evolving spectacularly throughout its length, whilst “Inside Outside” crosses breakbeat patterns with pulsating basslines, analog pads, and terrific atmospheres.
On the flip, The Other Side boss Maher Daniel takes the lead with a dried-out, dreamlike version of “Nothing Special”, reducing things to a minimum by relying on jazzy minimal drum patterns and chords to guide you through the early morning light . Rounding out the package, the beatless “Dawdling” is everything you need to think about the journey you just witnessed.” More

Phillipe Quenum, Cadenza co-founder and long-time dj & producer emerges on Serialism Records armed with a soulful, four-track EP just in time for Spring. Widely known for co-producing the 2003 hit, "Orange Mistake", as well as a myriad of other first-rate outputs, this gifted producer needs no introduction. Quenum's Another Day EP is right at home on Serialism, a label that's known for its consistent and classic dance-floor orientated releases from the likes of Frank Haag, Sierra Sam and Jin Choi. Laden with emotive, ascending synths, abyssal atmospheres and dubby basslines, this record is the true mark of a seasoned producer. From the percussive and texturized arrangement of Another Day to the Chicago inspired oscillating goodness of My Furious Thing, to the late night deep vibes of Everyday People to the nu-jazz flecked digital only Electric Prayer, Quenum knows how to evoke emotion on the dancefloor. Each track is the perfect backdrop for the onset of the Spring / Summer season, all four cuts melodic and deep, infused with elements of Chicago house, and touches of both soul and jazz. This timeless release further affirms Quenum's rightful place as one of the top producers in the game.

Sierra Sam, - The Laws of Distraction (feat. Big Bully)
5
Sierra Sam, - W.G.B.
It’s fair to say that Sammy Gossens aka Sierra Sam is one of the rare and victorious butterflies of the electronic world. Over the last 15 years not only has Sierra Sam released his own works on esteemed imprints such as Supplement Facts, Time Has Changed, Einmaleins Musik and many more, but his impeccable engineering skills are in demand worldwide, co-producing with artists such as Bloody Mary for Dame Music and Surburban Knight for UR and Peacefrog. Not enough to suffice his creative torrent, Sierra Sam runs the highly successful Toys For Boys imprint alongside Marcus Vector and was label manager for Jay Haze’s Tuning Spork and Contexterrior labels. Joining Cesare vs Disorder's Serialism imprint comes as no great surprise; the labels quirky, throbbing yet quality mannerism slotting directly into Sierra Sam's honed tech house signature for this five piece EP ‘Sierralism’. A1 ‘Sierralism’ marks the EP with an acidic and animalistic drive as sirens scream and tight percussion smack against a dark push and pull bass line. ’Sierralism’ is deceiving though, as its second half swerves into creepy vocoded slurs and an enchanting key melody to mould the title track into a mixed bag of flitting atmospheres. Up next is ‘Your Secrets’ where Sierra Sam exercises his unrivalled ability to conquer a plethora of sounds. Dripping in sumptuous synth lines, whispering piano keys and a wailing male vocal, Sierra’s concoction of off- beat clicks and cuts work as the underlying drive to ‘Your Secrets’ - a sensual, elegant and late night house track. On the flip long term friend and colleague Jay Haze works his ardent craftsmanship on ‘Your Secrets’ with his ‘Never Ready Edit’. Injecting punch via powerful drum snares and ricocheting vocal snippets, Haze flips ‘Your Secrets’ into its dark, smouldering alter ego with a stomping funk to its beat. Following Haze, Sierra Sam welcomes another artist on ‘The Laws Of Distraction’, Brooklyn’s Big Bully. Big Bully’s skin prickling vocals have spanned the house tech landscape, featuring on productions from Samin, Dinky, Adultnapper and Fuckpony to name but a few. ‘The Laws Of Distraction’ leaves us immediately hypnotized with a vat of warm echoeing synth sections and faint trickles. Deeply lost within Sierra Sam’s consistently intelligent rhythm sections, shakers are delicate, tom drums bellow and hand claps strike. Bully’s vocals are the grand finale in the arrangement though as his breathy vocal stabs dance against serene moans. Lastly, ‘W.G.B’ is the ‘Sierralism’ digi bonus, closing the EP with an upbeat and irresistible house track. With nods to an old school vibe and roughness, a bouncing bass line carries from below, playing host to crisp wooden taps and stabbing synths that consequently make for irresistible rhythms. ‘W.G.B. has groove and raw charm in abundance. ‘Serrialism’ is released in late February, followed imminently by Sierra Sam’s next EP on Tiefschwarz’s label Souvenir. As 2012 unfolds, Serialism continue their ever ascending role as one of the scenes most innovative and quality imprints.

The Serialism crew is back with the second installment of their London Cuts series. Picking up where Vol. 1 left off, Vol. 2 calls on a slew of talented label veterans to guide us through the many corridors of house music. First up Cesar Merveille delivers 'Kevs', a deep tech-house tune that builds and builds with just the right amount of sex appeal. Up next Safari Electronique's main man Arnaud Le Texier drops 'Then You'll Love' a hypnotic groover punctuated by percussive stabs and atmospheric keys. Label head Queen Atom and partner Onirik drop some acid in the mix with the aptly-titled '303 Dub' and rounding it out, Canary Fontaine guides the listener into the night with a druggy, disco infused minimal track narrated by lush secretive voices. The party keeps going after the record stops. London Cuts Vol. 2 comes with seven digital exclusives from Robin Ordell, Charly Delhom, Anthony Muirhead, Pablo Tarno, Mark Chambers, Rico Casazza and DoubtingThomas. Ranging from soulful grooves to minimal to left-field house this selection of additional tracks perfectly illustrates Serialism's deep love of electronic music in all its various forms.

Rainer, - U Don't Know She's a Fox
Barcelona-born Rainer grew up in California, but it was his move to London in 2007 which led him to start collaborating with Cesare vs Disorder, playing out around town and beginning his production career with the popular “Neuralgia” under his belt. The obvious next step for him was to hitch his wagon onto the well-traveled route onto Berlin where he now presents his second release on Cesare’s Serialism Records. “X-Berg to San Diego”, a production in conjunction with the label’s head honcho, a paean to his newly adopted stomping ground and the town of his youth. A tough house beat leads with a funky guitar picking out groove along the way, an oscillating vocal hovering into earshot as old-school snares jack it up. Next up on the A-side is “Room 27” which features a dark crunching bassline dueling with a barrage of cowbells which slowly build up the claustrophobic rhythmic pressure. A cheeky synth squiggle pokes about and some forgotten soul vocal phases in and out. Agoraphobic disco house with little let up but some canny filtering which lightens things up towards the end. The EP’s title track is a satisfying hit of house goodness, and they’ve managed to nab Visionquester Shaun Reeves and Tale Of Us for remix duties. “8000 Feet Up” kicks things off with some house drums that hit with weight tempered by the highs of a female vocal whose “oohs”, “aaahs” and even a few “waa, waas” repeat to form the melody. Her lone voice continues until all seems lost but in the nick of time she gets the required response in the shape of a male baritone that harmonizes just long enough to resolve things happily. The remix brings a Robinson Crusoe feel to the proceedings, laying over the sound of sand swirled around by the ebbing tides and a chorus of twittering birds with the drums rearranged for a more tropical vibe. Finally, on “U Don’t Know She’s a Fox” we get the back and forth of chopped up house which forms the backdrop for a David Byrne-esque repeating vocal, chugging along into a warm sax sample and some stabbing piano chords to drivec it out.

Jin Choi, - Full Range
Jin Choi is a musician, producer, DJ and live artist based in Berlin, Germany. Equally focused on groove and melodic structures, his music fuses electronic and naturalistic sounds to move the head and body. Once coined modern minimal, Choi's productions are equal parts emotion, melody and rhythm. "Full Range" is his first release on Serialism Records. In a recent interview, Choi described himself as a Burial loving music-nerd who is simply trying to create his own musical language. He has released on Lessizmore, Contexterrior, RomanPhoto & Archipel, to name a few. For SER10, he joins forces with Maceo Plex (aka Maetrik, the moniker he saves for his darker techno productions) to do just that. Most known for his recent revered deep-house single, "Vibe Your Love" on Crosstown, Plex makes the release the perfect late-night tool. First up is "Full Range", a dubby tech-house number with ominous and increasingly glitchy repetitive vocals that remind the listener of what Choi seems to already know - "music is the universal language, music is no longer irrelevant". Next, "Half Baked", the EP's star, manages to perfectly fuse industrial sounds with melody making a blissed-out, deep- house track. Mysterious squeaks, hisses and factorial inner workings provide the backdrop while warm time-stretched freestyle vocals guide us through the production. Maceo's Deep Remix is around 9-minutes of Chicago house inspired sounds layered with snappy high hats and emotive chords.

Serialism continues to deliver superb electronic dance music with Queen Atom's debut EP. "Horror fest" is a unique piece that combines old school, long, hypnotic grooves, with fresh and innovative sounds, rainy soft synth tones and warm atmospheres reminding as a result of classic new wave techno from the 90s, mixed up with the freshest and avantgarde sound of the present. On the flip Me2 and Phlanoptik close the ep in a very stylish fashion.More Percussive, more dancefloor, driven by a un-typical order that makes those two, special tunes for collectors. New offshoot to the Mean record label – Serialism Records - combining avant-garde sounds with a seasoned technique for all things minimal. In this case “Dried Lubricant EP” is an example of quality which doesn’t follow the common flow. On this 4 tracker, the classic breed of techno is harmonically mixed up with the quirkiness of our time; a various artist EP which doesn’t leave space for misunderstandings. On the A side young Frenchman Cesar Merveille and his obscure melodies and liquid bass lines takes us on moody journey followed by Italian Rico Casazza who plays ironically with our heads in a more funked up style. On the B side Ekkohaus opens up the dancefloor with heavy breaks and chorused rim shots while the fourth track from the brainchild of techno producer Grimes Adhesif delivers an industrial 909 style loopy piece. Grimes is the label owner of Mind Your Head Records, and has produced tracks which have received much recognition from major DJs and artists such as Ricardo Villalobos.
