Hot on the heels of what is turning out to be a very successful UNCLASSICS mix CD, the fourth UNCLASSICS vinyl voyage features a trio of sonic sauciness guaranteed to funk up your dancefloor! Discotheque's "Disco Special" immediately became one of Morgan Geist's favorite disco records when he dug it up in the used bin of a Boston records store in 1996. The track in question is a gorgeous musical masterpiece: the electronic synth patterns, the organic drums, piano and bass, and one of the fiercest and elegant percussion breaks put to wax. Zodiac's "Pacific" was a hit when released in the USSR in 1980, even though you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who knows the track outside that country and time period. This track truly sounds timeless: a Balihu record from 1980! A cross between electronic funk and the soundtrack to Spyhunter, its melody is addictive and will stick in your brain. Finally we have Eurofunk's "Manshortage," a true Unclassic. Creator Lewis Martinee was rumored to refer to the track "the worst thing I have ever made." Exactly, Lewis - that's why we love it! A fun, campy romp through 808 beats and italo-disco basslines, the song is made even more spinworthy with a re-edit from ELI-173. Enjoy!

The third UNCLASSICS voyage features another underground jam from the Quebecois producer behind the "Pluton & The Humanoids" project from 1980 (Unclassics #2). Pierre Perpall a.k.a. Purple Flash created "We Can Make It" as his personal vision of Georgio Moroder's electronics fused with sweet, almost easy-listening R&B. As odd a combination as that may sound, the moody keys combined with layers of electronic percussion set this track apart and created a minor disco hit when it was released in 1984. Copies of the rare originals (licensed to disco labels JDC in USA, Injection in Holland, and OVNI in Canada) occasionally surfaced and were in high demand in the disco collector's market. Thanks to UNCLASSICS, this beauty is available once again in pristine remastered form. Darshan Jesrani of Metro Area joins in on remix duties for this volume, adding live bass, keys and new atmospheres to his stripped-down take on the original. His remix is open to interpretation, a subtle take that will nestle as comfortably into a house set as it might into an electro journey. Like the original, the vibe is tough to pin down to one genre, and that's why we find it special and a welcome addition to the UNCLASSICS series. Enjoy.
