Duke Harrison is based on the Gold Coast, where he cooks up irresistible garage house tunes with a retro flavour but new school flair. This latest highly effective EP comes on Rhythm N Vibe and kicks off with 'Movin On', a full-blooded vibe with a kicking low end, scraping percussion and liquid synths that bring warmth and soul. 'Givin U' has kicks that swing low and hit hard, natty chords that are busy and ever on the move while a fat bassline adds the weight. 'Deep In' then turns up the heat with more brilliant synth work - its lithe and neon and brings great movement to the groove before the deeper 'Let's Testify' closes with a humid, dusty swagger and aching r&b vocal. Super stuff for summer and beyond.

After nearly three years, *Can You Feel It Vol. 5* marks the release of a brand-new installment in Tramp Records' Disco/Boogie series. Like all four previous volumes, Vol. 5 offers a colorful mix of songs from the late 1970s and early 1980s. From extremely rare tracks to easily accessible ones and even unreleased material-this release has everything to make a collector's heart race. Once again, these songs will get you on your feet, inspire you to dance, and transport you back to the glittering world of the late 1970s. CAN YOU FEEL IT?
Let's take a closer look at a few of the songs on this album. Kicking things off are Bill Deal & The Rhondels, a band that needs no introduction. The same cannot be said for Tom Balistreri and Ryjel. The latter presents "Heart's On Fire," a seven-minute journey into previously unreleased deep disco. "Old Mother Winter" may not be a typical disco song, but it's undoubtedly a fantastic composition. The Stone Mill Band is relatively unknown even among hardcore collectors. The most recent track on this album is by singer Tory Wynter who already contributed a song for Can You Feel It Vol.4. "Oh Let The Rain Fall Down" was released in 1988.
The second record opens with "Been Thinkin' About You" by Avatar-an amazing song and probably the rarest gem on this album, in stark contrast to Piz-Zazz - a record you can find easily for a few dollars. Saxophonist King Perkoff was born in Santa Monica, California, but now resides in Berlin, and with "When You Live In Marin" he delivers a real disco-funk banger! Glenn "Shake & Bake" Doughty played professional football as a wide receiver for the Baltimore Colts from 1972 to 1979. Together with some of his teammates, he founded the Shake & Bake Band in 1975. We probably aren't telling Tramp fans anything new here. Anyway, a little over two years ago, we reissued the first of their two extremely hard to find 45-RPM singles ("Shake & Bake Pt. 1 & 2"). We also included a DJ-friendly edit of the song on "Movements Vol. 12." It is a must for us here at Tramp that we also reissue their second single, "Starflight Disco Pt. 1 & 2," soon!
So there you have it, 13 obscure but brilliant MODERN SOUL, DISCO and BOOGIE tunes of which all have not been compiled anywhere else. We sincerely hope you enjoy our guided tour back into the late 1970s and 80s Disco era.

Dazzle rolled deep. Very deep. In the 1980s, it wasn't unusual for the Milwaukee-based group to show up at various Midwest night clubs in a caravan of 30-40 cars and vans. Their live following was hard won over a career that spanned 20+ years, many line up changes, and a handful of project names. Friends, family, and fans made the journey with them weekend after weekend, a testimony to both the musical prowess of the group and the tight-knit community that they emerged from.
Donald Smith, band leader, was there the whole time - joined by many of his siblings and friends - first as founder of the Ghetto Players, a early 70's nine-piece which also included siblings Michael, Ronald, and Charles. They played hard funk in the style of early Kool and the Gang, and although they sadly left no recordings, the strength of their live act managed to catch the eye of local Milwaukee R&B music entrepreneur Cobie Joe Payne. Cobie had made a couple of records locally in the early/mid 70s as a singer, including the impossibly weird and amazing rare afro-blues-funk 45 "Sweet Thing", but had never enjoyed national success. When the Ghetto Players disbanded in the early-mid 70s, Donald soon put together a new group, C on the Funk (the 'C' referring to lead vocalist and sibling Charles), under Payne's tutelage. Sister Lorrie Smith came in as the drummer, the line-up being fleshed out by brothers David and Melvin Johnson, and friend Robert Mitchell. After a few years as a strictly live attraction, they drove to Chicago and produced a single, "In the Disco" / "A Place" for Payne's small record label Sweet Thang Records in 1980. Lacking the financial backing needed to supply the local R&B disk jockey's "promotional fees" , this single sadly languished in obscurity, gathering dust inside the local tavern jukeboxes and manilla promo envelopes that comprised Payne's DIY distribution network.
C on the Funk were traveling the Mid West extensively at this point, and making some important friends on the road. Ike Wiley Jr. of the Dazz Band/Kinsman Dazz took particular interest and the band was re-christened Dazzle, partially as a tie-in with Dazz, partially to embrace the new sounds that would distinguish the 70s disco scene from what record collectors and DJs would now refer to as the "Boogie" era. There no doubt was a stigma attached to the word "Disco" as the eighties began, and as we see in this collection C On the Funk's "In the Disco" is remixed and transformed into the psychedelic synth instrumental of Dazzle's "Disco's Out", a title which embodies both the next-step approach Smith and company were pushing for, and humorously comments on the state of black dance music in the early 1980s. The Dazzle recording, done in Chicago in 1982, updated the sound and featured an expanded line up, most notably a second synth player (Charles Washington), and a percussionist/second lead vocalist (Greg McDonald). The added synth textures and deep percussive grooves give the Dazzle recordings an elegant late night vibe that resonate just as well in a good pair of headphones as they do on the dance floor. The trance inducing cough syrup-warble of "Explain" may best exemplify this here. Sadly, a pressing flaw in the 12" halted production and promotion, and the EP and the songs within were lost to the ages. Last time we heard from the Growing Bin, Basso was sat at the water‘s edge, trousers rolled up, toes inthe tide, savouring a Falanghina while Eleventeen Eston went with the wave. Now we move from theshoreline to the ocean shelf, led on an underwater adventure by young Parisian Shelter. Where previousreleases have seen the synth-obsessed Frenchman take his inspiration from Caribbean rhythms orBalearic attitudes, this marine missive sees Shelter turn to the lavish world of the library, creating his analternate score to Jean Faurez’ 1960 documentary short.More submersible than snorkel, our journey begins in the very dark of the deep, mystical harp trillsechoing through the inky blackness, picking up the bioluminescent shimmer of an Abraliopsis Squid.Gradually we make our way into the light, cruising past shoals of silver scales and underwater forests.‚Immersion’ offers a placid, percolating rhythm and billowing pads, providing sonic symmetry for thedancing leaves, while the spheric soundscape of ‘La Vie A L’Ombre’ bubbles away like an underwatervolcano. The optimistic ambience of ‘Plenitude Azotee’, brimming with delicate melody and glisteningsequences, perfectly captures the wide-eyed wonder of a reef dive, before drifting into the serenity of‘Parade’, an aquatic acquaintance of A.R.T. Wilson’s ‘Overworld’. A brief foray into shark fin funk seesout the A-side, before we’re back amid the beauty of the ocean floor; ‘Variation Abyssale II’ echoing thealbum opener but with even more poetry. The exotic and otherworldly sine waves of ‘Dans La Jungle DeVarech’ simultaneously sound like a rainforest canopy, alien landscape and coral microcosm, expandingour horizons nicely ahead of the adrenaline rush of ‘Hors D’Haleine’. Shelter then sets us at ease with thetidal tonality and subtle shuffle of ‘Fumeurs Noirs’, a sublime synthetic suite, then leaves us to marvel atthe soft focus splendour of ‘Synthii Outro’.This is Jules Verne by way of Vangelis, just grab your goggles and take the plunge…(words by Patrick Ryder)

Marc Cotterell has been going about his business with great style in recent years. The Plastik People boss leans into the old school soulful house and garage house scenes for his inspiration and updates those foundational samples with plenty of musicality as well as club-ready rhythms. This solo outing kicks off with the impossibly infectious 'Keep Pushing' with its angelic vocal tones and rich piano chords all overflowing with catchy, feel-good vibes. 'If You Still Love Me' has the same irresistibly joyous results, but this time darts about with a touch of US garage swing and some vibrant horns. 'Boogalou' closes with a more knotted, funky bassline. Brilliantly accessible but sophisticated stuff.

Daniel Lopatin aka Oneohtrix Point Never, one of the most admired sound architects of recent times has shared another chapter of his highly anticipated new album Magic Oneohtrix Point Never. Following the September album announcement and release of three-song “Drive Time Suite”, the five-song “Midday Suite'' introduces “Cross Talk II”, “I Don’t Love Me Anymore”, “Bow Ecco”, “The Whether Channel” and “No Nightmares”. As on “Long Road Home”, Lopatin’s simultaneously raw and synthesized vocals are once again at the forefront in “I Don’t Love Me Anymore”, a motorik-influenced ear worm with pop punk undertones. Tracks such as “Cross Talk II” and “Bow Ecco” nod to Lopatin’s ability to take organic recordings and seamlessly weave them into compact sensory vignettes. “The Whether Channel” offers an electronic meditation featuring abstracted self-help tape samples that unfurl before reaching an unforgettable coda lead by Nolanberollin’s epically vocoded baritone. “No Nightmares”, featuring vocal collaborations from The Weeknd, presents a gorgeously mutated AOR-style power ballad anchored by Lopatin’s futuristic production and arrangement demonstrating yet another side to the album’s vast sonic narratives. Abel Tesfaye, an ardent collaborator, also shares executive producer credits alongside Lopatin, with additional album contributions from Caroline Polachek, Arca, Nate Boyce and Nolanberollin.
Magic Oneohtrix Point Never is a reflective and self-referential body of work. Here Lopatin has mastered his own autobiography; an ornate musical double entendre from an artist whose prolific and diverse output over the years has led to this career-defining moment. At the end of 2019 Lopatin scored one of the most critically acclaimed soundtracks of recent years, an anxiety-laced joyride driving the Safdie Brothers' noir thriller Uncut Gems. Prior to that, his celebrated 2018 album Age Of foreshadowed a universal feeling of shifting tides that cuts even deeper today in the current state of world affairs. Now turning the dial towards his own inner frequencies the structure of Magic Oneohtrix Point Never loosely summons the broadcasting logic of radio dayparts, switching on in the morning and closing very late at night, while seamlessly latticed together with kaleidoscopic, twitchy transformations of sound between the dials to form a darkly humorous reflection on American music culture.
Earlier this month, OPN shared the first visual from the new album, an animated video for "Long Road Home" co-directed by the cross-Atlantic creative duo of Charlie Fox (UK) and Emily Schubert (US). In homage to Georges Schwizgebel's 1982 short film Le ravissement de Frank N. Stein, which was also featured on the cover of Oneohtrix Point Never's 2013 album R Plus Seven, the perfectly paired visual plays voyeur to seemingly sinister and otherworldly creatures as they become romantically entangled. The courtship dances wildly between basic human emotion and erotic dark humor, making fantasy and reality one and the same.
Magic Oneohtrix Point Never is the fourth full length album release from OPN on Warp and will be out worldwide this Friday, October 30th.

Sounds. 8 rare and hidden tracks produced between 1976 and 1984 in various parts of the world.
As a fine collector of Jazz-Funk and Fusion for many years, Charles Maurice cooked another fine
selection of forgotten Fusion Jazz productions, this time driven by a common Brazilian influence.
On this 2nd edition, recordings come from Brazil, Philippines, Netherlands, Poland, and US, all
again from underrated artists mostly unknown from the masses. You'll find here the best elements of
the Fusion genre: fine vocal arrangements, catchy Fender Rhodes and synthesizers, irresistible
basslines, and classy horns section, altogether bringing a unique groove infused with Brazilian
flavors.
The compilation starts with Lerma dela Cruz, a quite occult songstress from Philippines. “Free” was
part of a very rare compilation titled “Tropical Jazz Fusion”, released in 1983 on A&W Horizon label
(also home of Boy Katindig). With its blowing Samba / Jazz-Funk vibes, it was an obvious match to
open this collection. The following song could only enhance this ambience, since that of Brazilian
saxophonist, Nivaldo Ornelas, present on this opus with 2 titles taken from his album A Tarde
(1983). On “Cactus”, Nivaldo is supported on keyboards by his friend Marcos Resende, both also
known for their album on the MPBC series released by Phonogram-Polygram between 1978 and
1981, which has clearly been an inspiration for Charles Maurice in building this second edition.
We could continue telling stories and details about the others great tracks included in Fusion Global
Sounds Vol.2, but we believe that the best way is to listen to it and pursue your trip through Fusion
Jazz combined with Brazilian styles, including surprising stopover in Poland, or Netherlands.

Entre Nous is the debut album from Eden Aurelius. A beautifully poised collection for Short Span. A gorgeous showcase of her singular talent within a sparkling scene. Recorded in Brooklyn, NY, this is an innovative, and graceful body of music that feels truly contemporary.
This album felt important for us to have out in time for summer. Emerging out of the heat, a feeling brought alive with the sun. Music that evolves throughout seasons and carries a spectrum of emotional range.
Entre Nous is tight, but expansive. Its depth and complexity is languid but has gravitational pull. Like much of her work, this record feels so refreshing because its tracks are both sensory and illusory tones built in gossamer and transitory layers of satin. They have a remarkable sense of presence and pressure - floating rhythmically without sharp edges. There is guidance and gentle control that lead throughout the record.
The B side opens with “Ion” featuring Pontiac Streator. The song is formed out of a textural haze. A glistening, iridescent light appears, broken through fabric, projecting a blurred image onto the surface nearby. A hypnotic and evocative collaboration. The shared connection between the two artists’ command of rhythm and ambient language.
