MAR 004 continues the evolving catalogue of Moozikeh Analog Room, a label imprint emerging from the broader Analog Room ecosystem. Over time, Analog Room has developed into distributed creative structure spanning, bridging club culture, archival releases, and experimental instrument design. MAR 004 extends this trajectory, reinforcing the label’s position as a long-form documentation platform for contemporary electronic music practices rooted in both regional and international dialogue.

"The relationship with Roman Flugel started with us listening to his music and be fascinated by the simplicity but bold sound. The sound design and the story telling was inline with how we enjoyed music. After inviting Roman for a few times to perform at Analog Room, the relationship led to the point that when it was time for us to think of the MAR releases, we could not miss on asking Roman to join the label and the rest is what you are going to experience with this thick, deep and rhythmic EP that represents what the world need at the moment, some SOLUTIONS. Analog Room has always tried to bypass the issues in the South West Asia region through music and art and show how we are all the same and connected."

Some have said it laid the foundations for the ‘Dirty Dutch’
house scene, albeit from over the border in Germany.
Well known for injecting much-needed levity into the contemporary club landscape via her Live From Earth parties, DJ Gigola adds additional firepower to ‘Geht’s Noch?’, inducing a planet-shaking kick drum, before sending the track’s signature bleeps into nonsensical Morse code for even greater pleasure. Another rave
culture connoisseur, Luca Lozano, offers two alternate takes; his ‘Technocs’ mix rolls deep with additional cowbells, robotic voice commands and stadium-sized claps. Meanwhile, the ‘Gehts Garage Remix’ draws a savvy connection with the original’s as-yet-untapped UK funky potential.

Roman Flügel returns to Phantasy with his second release of 2024 on Erol Alkan’s beloved London label, ‘No Solutions EP’. Following on from ‘Hotel Kathargo / Energies’, which garnered a summer of support from a typically diverse array of DJs including Gerd Janson, Jamie Jones and Saoirse, ‘No Solutions’ expands Flügel’s contributions to Phantasy into a triple track delight, another generous expression of his lifelong immersion in electronic music culture. Transporting the zeitgeist of future-facing, eighties pop production onto modern dance floors, the title track ‘No Solutions’ is a fizzy, escalating ode to some of Flügel’s very earliest musical influences. Playfully channeling the wide-eyed electronics pioneered by The Human League or Soft Cell, it accelerates into a contemporary funhouse of wild oscillations and dreamy melodies. ‘Sapphire’ shifts this sound palette forward, a steady acid-not-acid bubbler that maintains maximum intrigue and pressure, occasionally breaking through its hazy clouds with pillowy breakdowns and a sense of space-age whimsy. Magically delicious: Lucky Charm completes Roman Flügel's personal -feel-good-tetralogy on Running Back. Joining Garden Party, D.I.S.C.O. and Mega for a quadrophony of fun, it is piano house at the core of the matter. Of course, Roman Flügel wouldn't be himself, if he would work carelessly. Imagine it prepared through the disciplines of molecular gastronomy. In a dystopian world on the edge of information overkill, this is exactly what one needs to relish temporary relaxation and the joys of life again. Simply put: arps, bass lines, tribal drums, brief melodies and pizzicato illuminate the topic from different sides and in different versions.
Its correspondent Luv Armour is a piece of jewelry that's doing the splits: house, new wave, synth pop and some melancholy for the finishing touches.
If you are looking for less action Whatever That Is offers you a slow dance. Looking for unheard and unconscionable connections, it twists and turns between Can-like sequences, what Underground Resistance dubbed Afrogermanic and some unexpected tunnel, before it ends where it started out

In a dystopian world on the edge of information overkill, this is exactly what one needs to relish temporary relaxation and the joys of life again. Simply put: arps, bass lines, tribal drums, brief melodies and pizzicato illuminate the topic from different sides and in different versions.
Its correspondent Luv Armour is a piece of jewelry that's doing the splits: house, new wave, synth pop and some melancholy for the finishing touches.
If you are looking for less action Whatever That Is offers you a slow dance. Looking for unheard and unconscionable connections, it twists and turns between Can-like sequences, what Underground Resistance dubbed Afrogermanic and some unexpected tunnel, before it ends where it started out
Finally, Film 4 is the final dish of this lush meal. Referring to the other Film tracks on the Mega 12" and created during the hard and dark times of closed amusement party parks, it is full of yearning. Music for your inner cinema.

Beautifully drunken it hums, the piano in “PianoPiano”, the last tune of “How to Spread Lies”, the first EP by Roman Flügel for the Hamburg based label Dial in the year 2010. Or take “Strich”, a peculiar electrical slow-motion grinder, out on his “Mutter” EP for Klang Electronic in 2006. Since long, the renowned Berlin based DJ and producer is investigating in spheres beyond the dance, the groove, the ecstasy. Zones, where the molecules harmonize, senses relieve, and the soul quietens. All his last albums, “All The Right Noises” (Dial), “Themes I-XIII” (ESP Institue), “Eating Darkness” (Running Back) have moments of tension and relaxation in a deep harmonious connection. Now “Balmy Evening”, a sundown record for sunup’s. Eleven notions in adventurous journey music, embracing the freedom of structure, blurring the musical pulse into harmonic meditation and mysteriously grooving zones, leaving all unnecessary accessories behind. A quality, that many of his collaborative and solo productions from past 30 years comprise. Still, most of them squint on the dance floor, where jack is king. Not so “Balmy Evening”, where real party bangers are absent. There are moving tunes like the slow Kraftwerk-melody-leaning funkateer “Duftschulter”, or the artificially jacking “Greenhouse”, where nervous Synth patterns ball along soft breaks and decreet kicks. Also, “Super Sonne”, an odd, seemingly improvised synth conversation might ask some souls out for a dance. But all others, like “Atmosphere”, “Frei”, Dolphins, “Goth”, or “Ambienteuse”, rather seek for the tranquil in each one’s spirit. Listeners need be ready for surprises. Ready for impulsive ideas, linked to a harmonious flow, always ready to grow. An album full of silence, utterly loud, beautifully diverse humming, displaying a playful, exploratory side of a celebrated club music producer, to whom atoms dance in manifold ways.

Roman Flu¨gel’s pioneering Tracks On Delivery series returns for a new EP on Rekids. In the early 00’s, Roman Flugel’s ‘Tracks On Delivery’ releases saw the producer put out four records on Ongaku Music that helped defined an era of oddball minimal techno. Returning to the concept in 2022, the Frankfurt-based electronic music luminary delivers four idiosyncratic techno tracks for Radio Slave’s imprint. Active since the 90s, Flu¨gel has been at the forefront of electronic music for decades. Founding the labels Ongaku, Klang Elektronik, and Playhouse, Flu¨gel also boasts a storied discography across labels such as Running Back, ESP Institute, Dial and many more, as well as having contributed to both Live at Robert Johnson and fabric’s iconic mix series.

Even if Ancient Greek isn’t part of general knowledge anymore, the word mega is. Hence, you might admire our modesty to say that Roman Flügel’s first outing on Running Back in 2022 is perfectly headed. Greta, large, mighty and somewhat the love- or brainchild of his earlier Garden Party and the previous D.I.S.C.O., Mega pulls out all the stops: hi-nrg melodies, circus bells, cowboy funk and honey hooks at 140 beats per minute. While it is nearly impossible not to take this bait or decorate it with the Bobby-O medal of honor, Roman proves one more that you can be catchy and classy at the same time.
Rules on the other hand, puts some of these stylistic devices in reverse or down-tempo mode and feels like brushing your teeth after an extended feast or the perfect hors d’oeuvre.
Completing the picture with Film 1, Film 2 and Film 3, Flügel flexes his freethinking muscles and lands in-between art school new wave bands and soundscape science. Music that is masterly made, magical in its impact and perfectly described with a misquoted line from Get The Balance Right: it’s never predictable.

Roman Flügel is a magician. This statement is far from being a hyperbole. Just put the needle down on any record – I mean any! – of his ( collaborations included) since the early nineties and see for yourself: none of them are without that special effect. The magic works instantly. And as the thing with magic goes: it’s challenging to explain it. But I guess that is what makes it magic.
Eating Darkness is the title of his newest spell. Affected by the fundamental shock that any system got in 2020 – but not the result thereof – it is an album that could absorb it – as its name might suggest. Music and nightlife work hand in hand as escapism and as anchors or as the undercoat of social interactions. They enable people to deal with hardships as well as the burden and the joy of life. That is the starting point and hope of Eating Darkness: the outlook and invitation to enrich each and everyone’s existence.
Bound to the single LP format and reminiscent of a time with format limitations, the nine tracks are testament to Flügel’s weakness for the art of pop music with the use of little and especially short motifs. Furthermore equipped with a clear instrumentation and without any camouflage, Eating Darkness corresponds to his idea of a virtual band.
As it happens, the opener is called The Magic Briefcase. That sits not only well with my first sentence, but pretty much embodies the album and Roman Flügel’s apparatus in an alternative title: Crystal clear sounds and melodies bounce on and off the dance floor, living room and club are pulled together and transcendental moments take turns with the tangibility of reality. After all, that is how a real magician allures you.

Analog Room Director and co-founder Mehdi Ansari expands his dedication to the electronic music scene of the Middle East. After six years of weekly events, presenting quality and cutting edge electronic music from around the globe, the educating continues with the launch of Moozikeh Analog Room. Moozikeh (“Music of” in Farsi) Analog Room launch is to showcase the sounds and artists that Analog Room is all about. The first release is an EP by Analog Room’s co-founder and resident artist Salar Ansari who has been producing for over a decade. Salar’s sound is influenced by a very unique mix of residencies from Tehran and Dubai to Detroit, Michigan. It took all these years for Salar to reach a place where he is happy to share his work with the world. In this release he speaks jazz in house music by a very romantic conversation of percussions, horns, keys and bass. The release contains of 2 special remixes by Patrice Scott and Donald Lee Roland II where both explain their angle of these heavenly compositions.

For a number of years now, A Guy Called Gerald has largely made music only for
himself. But this special EP is borne from Gerald’s unique and long-lasting
friendship with Analog Room founders Mehdi Ansari, Siamak Amidi and Salar
Ansari. They first met in 2013 when Siamak booked Gerald to play his Analog
Room party in Dubai – a leading underground light in the UAE’s then emergent
scene. Away from the glossy VIP hotels and expensive bottle service parties
typically associated with Dubai, Analog Room only deals with quality bookings of
the caliber of Move D, Roman Flügel, Moritz Von Oswald and the likes. Gerald
immediately fell in love with the party. Its strict music-first, no-nonsense policy
appealed to him and he’s returned many times over the years.
By then, of course, A Guy Called Gerald’s musical legacy was already assured. The
Manchester icon is best known for his 1988 hit single Voodoo Ray – the
touchstone of his hometown’s dawning acid house scene. As well as being an
early member of 808 State, Gerald embraced breakbeat and jungle, ran his own
Juice Box Records label and worked with the likes of Columbia, Perlon, K7! and
many other vital labels. His skills on everything from synths to keys, samplers to
drum machines stood him apart then – and still do today.
“This release is based on a real friendship,” Gerald explains. “I feel part of the
Analog Room family. Back in the early days, that’s how it was. These days, it’s like,
‘Oh, you’re famous, let’s do something.’ I’m not interested in that. I’m not
interested in being a celebrity or living that life. I’m the same as I was 30 years
ago, all I care about is the music. With Mehdi, we have spent hours jamming in
private in Dubai, we have partied together. We’ve vibed together for so long and
he’s shown me new parts of the world I should be making and playing music in,
away from the trendy scenes in other places. So this is an exclusive just for him.
I’m not looking at doing anything else with anyone, and the music is just about
celebrating individuality rather than trying to fit in anywhere.”
When Iranian-born Mehdi decided to start Moozikeh Analog Room – which
translates from Farsi as “the music of the Analog Room” – Gerald was one of the
first artists he asked to release on the label. It might have taken some time for
Britain’s Dirty Little Secret to materialize, but boy it’s been worth the wait.
Says Mehdi, “The magic comes through proper relationships and friendships.
That’s why Analog Room worked. It was a great room, an amazing sound system,
with amazing artists doing their thing. Bookings were so on-point because we had
agents around the world, on the dancefloors, spying up artists who were killing it,
and Gerald was one of them. He was a perfect fit from the first gig and our
friendship grew from there. He’s always been very kind to me. We have this
common language of music without any bullshit, and that is where this EP comes
from.”
The EP is a mixture of different things. Some of it is unreleased material from the
vaults revisited, some of it is brand new. It opens up with the devastating Old
Skool – a writhing, physical track with naughty bass. The drums hark back to
Gerald’s early days of making jungle but reimagined through a modern
perspective. As the synths spray about the mix and the percussion bounces atop
the jostling drums, muttered vocals draw you in deeper. Sugoi is an experimental
track that fuses ambient synth design with the spacious and eerie atmospheres of
jungle. Nimble drums get you on your toes as the spangled synths twist and turn
in all directions. It is a thrillingly original, impossible to define track.
Flash Fight is built on a captivating rhythm that sits in the area where house,
techno and jungle intersect. It is warm and cavernous, physical yet elegant as it
bounces on rubbery kicks and lithe synths roam in and out of earshot. Perfect for
those sweaty, cozy back rooms, it’s another masterclass from Gerald. Closing out
the EP is False Religion, a deep-rooted house track with elastic drums and
haunting, wispy pads. As a subtle acid bassline rises and falls way down below,
Gerald’s own mystic whispers leave listeners hypnotized.
Following on from Analog Room co-founder Salar Ansari’s debut release on the
label, this EP is a statement of intent. More releases will follow from some of
Analog Room’s most frequent international guests, but only when the time is
right. Moozikeh Analog Room is a label of love, one that is focused on putting out
the best possible music at all times rather than chasing hype.
A timely reminder of why A Guy Called Gerald is one of the world’s most enduring

bounces on rubbery kicks and lithe synths roam in and out of earshot. Perfect for
those sweaty, cozy back rooms, it’s another masterclass from Gerald. Closing out
the EP is False Religion, a deep-rooted house track with elastic drums and
haunting, wispy pads. As a subtle acid bassline rises and falls way down below,
Gerald’s own mystic whispers leave listeners hypnotized.
Following on from Analog Room co-founder Salar Ansari’s debut release on the
label, this EP is a statement of intent. More releases will follow from some of
Analog Room’s most frequent international guests, but only when the time is
right. Moozikeh Analog Room is a label of love, one that is focused on putting out
the best possible music at all times rather than chasing hype.

Nachdenkliche Wehrpflichtige waren in der Zeit ihrer kurzen Existenz Anfang der 80er Jahre so etwas wie eine „Supergruppe“ aus dem Umfeld des Hamburger Musikmagazins „Sounds“. Im Zentrum stand bzw. sang Diedrich Diederichsen, andere prominente Mitglieder waren u.a. FM Einheit, Bettina Köster, Frieder Butzmann oder Albert Oehlen. Ihr Stück „Svengali Joe“ ist tatsächlich, wie man es auch dreht und wendet, eines der frühesten und gelungensten Beispiele von deutschsprachigem Rap, als solches aber bis heute weitgehend übersehen. Im Original zu finden ist es auf der Doppel-LP „Kirche der Ununterschiedlichkeit“, auf der neben Nachdenkliche Wehrpflichtige noch drei andere, verwandte Projekte mit so klangvollen Namen wie LSDAP/AO, Männer in nassen Kleidern oder Vielleichtors mit jeweils einer Plattenseite vertreten sind. Das Album ist über weite Strecken, sagen wir, etwas sperrig - mit Ausnahme allerdings von „Svengali Joe“, das seinerzeit, wie fast die ganze Platte, im Hamburger Hafenklang Studio aufgenommen wurde. Im Unterscheid zu den Liedern der anderen Gruppen wurde es allerdings vom legendären André Rademacher produziert, der hier für einen modernen, kompetenten New-York-Sound sorgte. Dazu tragen Schlagzeuger Johann Bley, Detlef Diederichsen an Bass und Gitarre sowie Saxofonist Heiner Goebbels das ihre bei. Unbedingt hervorzuheben ist auch der starke Vocal Support der großen Schauspielerin Angelika Winkler. Der Text selbst stammt übrigens nicht etwa aus Diederichsens Feder, es handelt sich dabei vielmehr um so wortgewaltige wie bildmächtige Auszüge aus den Memoiren des ebenfalls legendären, österreichischen Filmregisseurs und Marlene-Dietrich-Entdeckers Josef von Sternberg. Die vorliegende, neue Edit-Version von „Svengali Joe“ greift eher zurückhaltend in das Original ein, sie dient vor allem der besseren Textverständlichkeit, sowie natürlich optimaler DJ-Auflegbarkeit.
Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle begannen ihre lange Laufbahn ungefähr zur gleichen Zeit wie Nachdenkliche Wehrpflichtige, ihr Stück „Nokturn“ stammt im Original allerdings von 2008. Zu dieser Weltklasse-Band um den Schriftsteller und DJ Thomas Meinecke und die Künstlerin Michaela Melián muss an dieser Stelle nicht viel gesagt werden, jeder kennt sie, jeder liebt sie, und erfreulicherweise ist die Gruppe bis heute auf hohem Niveau aktiv. „Nokturne“, diese Quasi-Hymne auf das Nachtleben und die damit verbundenen, allseits bekannten Ängste ist klar eines meiner Lieblingslieder von FSK; und die Idee, davon einen weniger „rockigen“, mehr discoartigen Stomper für DJs zu machen, trieb mich schon seit dem ersten Erscheinen um. In dem vorliegenden Edit sind die Drums eine Kombination aus echt Kölnischer Kickdrum, New Yorker No Wave Disco Loops und den Hamburger Original-Fills von Carl Oesterhelt. Fragmente der Original-Gitarre wurden mit Disco Strings ergänzt, und das war es eigentlich auch schon!
Floh De Cologne hingegen kommen aus einer ganz, ganz anderen Zeit und Welt (unnötig zu erwähnen, aus welcher Stadt). In den späten 60er Jahren wurden sie zu Pionieren des so genannten Politrocktheaters, als solche natürlich weit und dezidiert links. Ihr Stück „Die Luft gehört denen, die sie atmen“ findet sich auf ihrem Album „Profitgeier“, einer Rockoper von 1971. Ich stolperte über diesen Song in einer länglichen Video-Playlist zum Thema „Obskure, deutsche Discomusik“, dort hatte er, obwohl sicherlich ausreichend obskur, genau genommen nichts verloren - tanzen können dazu im engeren Sinne wohl nur die wenigsten, aber das Video dazu ist wirklich äußerst sehenswert. Der vorliegende Edit stellt klar den umfangreichsten Eingriff in Struktur, Klang und Wirkung des Originalstücks dar. Dennoch: die Drums sind wirklich aus dem Original destilliert, der gleichzeitig anklagende und erhebende Text mehr oder weniger komplett vorhanden. Bass und Keyboards dagegen: alles komplett neu. Vor ein paar Jahren durfte ich die mittlerweile betagten Genossen bei einer Preisverleihung kennenlernen und, mit ein wenig Geduld, davon überzeugen, diese völlig neue Version doch bitte, bitte für die heutige Generation Discogehender freizugeben. Und so kam es dann auch.

SHORT INFO:
ZG is the moniker of London based Zansika Lachhani and Grant (aka Anthony Collins, and the Tony in Frank & Tony). The concept was borne out of a connection online, as Grant and Zan connected on Soundcloud, both independently vibing off each other's music and approach to their art.
In 2018 they began to work together, developing a number of tracks but eventually parking the project as other life commitments got in the way. Fast forward to 2021, while clearing out old harddrives, Grant rediscovered the recordings and was blown away by the music already put down. Together they began to rework and develop the project further, resulting in a blindingly beautiful seven track LP.
Opener Jungle Times sets the scene, an atmospheric dreamy opening giving way to an idiosyncratic breakbeat and whispered vocals from Zan, setting the tone perfectly, floating the sound equally between London and New York styles. Following it up is the enigmatic Roll of Thunder, drawing its power broken beat patterns, deep and soulful strings and washes reminiscent of 4Hero in their prime.
When Young also brings a jazz aesthetic to the fore, with upfront drums and Rhodes chords washing over in melodic bliss. Ombre starts with a thick bassline and urgent synth stabs before developing into a tripped-out groove, layered with thick synth lines and subtle harmonic touches. Similarly, Aura uses some of the same sound palette as well with touches of guitars and more sparking pads creating an uplifting yet melancholic journey. The first real vocal arrives with the penultimate track Dog Days, dreamily layered over beautifully evolving synth washes and skittering beats. By the time Drift Out arrives to usher in the last act of this exceptional LP, we are on cloud nine.
