Alarico returns to Mutual Rytm with his 'Drops Of You' EP, packed with his mind-bending signature rhythms while focussing on a more minimal and atemporal approach than before.

Milan-based artist Alarico has firmly arrived on the world stage in recent years. Taking cues from the harder realms of techno of the 90s, he adds his own quirky rhythms and quickened sense of groove to showcase his modern take on the genre. Building on material dropping via his own Katana Records, with high-profile support from bigname DJs across the scene, he breaks new ground again here on this compelling new EP as he returns to SHDW's label Mutual Rytm with 'Drops Of You'.

Excellent opener '0 Kelvin' races out of the blocks with wiry synths and percussion that sounds like knives being sharpened, all over tight, punchy techno drums. 'One More' then gets more twisted with freaky synth line scurrying about the mix while hammering hits and bouncy drum programming races onwards into an unknown future.

'Asma' slips into a deeper but no less impactful groove - the tightly coiled drum funk is overlaid with soulful vocal whispers and militant snares that cannot fail to sweep dancers away. Next, the slick 'Sunburn' keeps the pace high and is another warp-speed techno excursion with bold drum patterns and dry hi-hats cutting up the beats. It's a fulsome sound fleshed out with great synth detail and euphoric vocal cries, before closer 'Drops Of You' layers broken beats, vocal snippets and psychedelic synth colours into an intense and emotional workout.

Alongside the vinyl cuts, three digital-only offerings are also loaded into this one as a trio of treats in the form of 'Sino', 'What For' and 'Erased', with each track harnessing pacy, energetic rhythms, a mix of bright and murky sonics, and tunnelling grooves crafted for maximum impact.

SHDW & Obscure Shape welcome Alarico back to Mutual Rytm as the Italian delivers a medley of diverse techno cuts across his latest EP, 'Boya'.

Arriving fresh from an impressive twelve months with releases via the likes of Token Records alongside his notable self-production only mixes, Italian DJ and producer Alarico continues to grow as a talent on the rise within techno. Combining nuances from across the genre to shape his own fast-paced and raw yet soulful sound, the Milan based talent hasn't slowed down since launching the alias in 2019. Having featured on the label's VA 'Federation Of Rythm I' earlier this year, he now returns to SHDW and Obscure Shape's blossoming Mutual Rytm imprint for his first EP on the label - delivering eight cuts across both digital and vinyl for 'Boya'.

Kicking things off with the rugged and loopy 'AE86', Alarico quickly gets to work fusing driving grooves with slick vocal interjections, while title cut 'Boya' veers into slightly more raw and metallic territories guided by snappy claps and resounding kicks. 'Killa Cut' brings the funk on the B-side as soulful vocals ebb and glow amongst the mix, with 'Lost In Time' offering up pulsing bass beneath ethereal vocals, sweeping melodies and lively hats. The vinyl package is wrapped up by 'The Ballad of Lisa', with the infectious bleeping topline leading off-kilter clangs, slightly offsetting the track's tight core groove.

With three bonus tracks on the digital package, the Italian continues to bring the heat with 'God Bless Hip Hop' providing yet more punchy, skipping rhythms accented by rich chords. 'Cigarettes After Sex' carries a more manic and chaotic arrangement yet still manages to hold the track together amongst murky flutters, before closing the show via 'The Rush Hour' to deliver warping, arpeggiated basslines and a constant battle of tension and release.

Italian techno force Alarico makes a striking debut on KEY Vinyl with 'Sweaty Techniques', a seven-track LP that encapsulates his signature style: groove-centric, stomping and irresistibly danceable. Known for his prolific output, the Berlin-based artist delivers a fast-paced and energetic sound, interwoven by the thematic thread of the whole release: a sweaty encounter.

From the opening pulse of 'Cradle to the Grave', rhythm takes center stage-percussion-driven and primed for peak-time occasions. Snipped vocals and bouncy baselines carve out some sort of hypnotic patterns, while deep, rolling low ends keep the momentum locked in. Gritty textures collide with fragmented modulations, twisting into distorted, high-energy productions. Across the LP, tightly coiled bleeps and moaning snippets emerge, lending a sinister yet seductive edge.

Then there's 'Dammelo'-Italian for 'give it to me'-which subsumes the album's thematic essence into pure physicality, embracing its vocal motif with a knowing smirk. As the record progresses, Alarico shifts between functional, stripped-back rhythms and more tension-driven moments, culminating in 'Touch My Heart', where sharper drum programming meets hypnotic vocal loops. Closing on a high, 'Jamira' encapsulates the album's crisp percussive edge, rounding off a release that is as relentless as it is intoxicating.
With 'Sweaty Techniques', Alarico solidifies his place as one of techno's most electrifying new voices-an LP made of steel, but definitely built to move.

San Francisco DJ and producer Charles Duff aka Matrixxman unveils his new label ‘The Grid’ with a special double 12” - ‘The Grid 001’ presented in a deluxe gatefold sleeve. Matrixxman is one of the most acclaimed and prolific modern Techno producers, opening new avenues in the current scene with his material regularly supported and played by Rødhåd, Jeff Mills, Ben Klock, Richie Hawtin and more.

‘The Grid 001’ captures Matrixxman in full Techno mode with tracks of pure rhythm, polyphony and shades of Acid bookended with brief ambient sketches . The Californian artist offers a sonic teleportation to outer space, to a different way of representing Techno and Electronic music. These six tracks are characterised by their futuristic atmosphere and clearly marked by their hypnotic construction, where elements that seem to be insignificant become the centre of attention, where a trivial whistle can be looped and turned into a main mutant melody, where textures become increasingly important to show us different sides of Techno. to underline this tryptic statement and to demonstrate the diversity of one of atom™'s compositions that appeared on his 2013 »HD« album, raster now re-releases the long sold-out vinyl ep featuring remixes by boys noize, function and atom™ himself.?? »ich bin meine maschine«, in an elaborate manner, illustrates uwe schmidt's main musical concern - the exploration of electronics in pop music. inspired by a statement of the cybernetician heinz von foerster, atom™ generated a message that is playing around with a widely-cited kraftwerk quotation, turning "ich bin eine maschine" into "ich bin meine maschine" (i am my machine). besides the album version of »ich bin meine maschine«, the ep features some dominantly techno influenced versions that perfectly connect the pop attitude of »hd« with dancefloor functionality. the boys noize remix shows off alexander ridha's deft skills for translating atom™'s futuristic pop into his own rough and driving electronic language. on the other hand, atom™'s »linear remix« breaks down the original structure of the song and turns it into a reduced and much straighter, forward looking composition. function - one of techno's true underground heroes - provides a remix that is breathing the air of solid and hypnotic club music, in which just the essential elements are streamlined and condensed into perfection. all 3 remixers adapt the track to their particular universe. by doing so, they prepare the 12" vinyl for its final destination – the club.

Juju Love, one of the earliest tracks created by HIA, receives it's first release on vinyl. Side A of the EP has been given over exclusively to JujuLove, cut at 45rpm for maximum bass, fidelity and dynamic range.Unearthed for HIA's celebrated live performance at Terraforma festival in 2022, Juju Love has become a favourite with audiences around the globe at HIA's extensive live shows in recent years.Previously only available as a live recording on a limited promo cassette tape 'HIA Live From The Back Of Beyond' (1993) and more recently on the digital only 'Preform' release on Headphone records.Combined with Speedlearn (Frontal Lobe) and W.H.Y on Side B, these three tracks together are taken from a particular moment in HIA's timeline.

Repress!

With Coalescence, The Third Room brings together artists from distinct yet interconnected techno lineages, united by a shared understanding of the music as both physical and introspective. Rather than staging contrasts, the EP focuses on convergence, where propulsion, atmosphere and restraint fold into a coherent whole. Rene Wise & Ignez open the release with Anjos, pairing Wise's tactile, percussive pressure with Ignez's expansive, oceanic pads. The result sits at the intersection of functional drive and elevated, almost devotional space, reflecting a new generation's approach to techno as both tool and inner landscape. Norbak's remix draws the track further inward, deepening its hypnotic pull and extending its energy into a more meditative, slow-burning form. On the B-side, Claudio PRC & Luigi Tozzi present Onirica, a deeply restrained and immersive composition rooted in atmosphere, spatial detail and subtle psychedelia. Unfolding with patience, it rewards attentive listening and long-form dancefloor contexts. Markus Suckut closes the EP by reducing Onirica to its bare essentials, applying his signature economy and precision to heighten tension and focus. Coalescence reflects The Third Room's vision of techno as a shared terrain, where different voices and generations meet, align and quietly reinforce one another.
