At its skittering percussion core, a stripped back 808 tapestry, sequenced into myriad jazz-inflected shapes, a pulsing kick drum the snapping heartbeat, ticking hi-hats bursting from every angle.

Clone Classic Cuts continues to dig in the crates to bring back forgotten or obscure records from the past! This is 3 tracks by Da Posse (produced by Hula... one of the Outthere Brothers... and with Maurice Joshua, K Fingers & Martell). Strings & Its My Life are Chicago's take on Detroit techno... a rare release that sounds like a early Derrick May record (think 'The Dance') but maybe slightly more straight forward (as one might expect from Chicago). A rare piece in house and techno history since this is one of the rare examples of a record that doesn't show the clear difference between Chicago and Detroit in the late 80's. This record most likely got produced within 1 year after Rhythm = Rhythms legendary Nude Photo and Strings of Life releases (both '87 and this came out in '88). As extra bonus track we have The Groove. A phat bass driven chicago acid track that still rocks it. Another fine piece of powerful dance music history back in the spot light!

For his next trick, Danny Krivit serves up a fitting musical tribute to what he refers to as "the royal family of soul" aka The Jacksons. This double A-side brings two classics to 7" for the first time having been pulled from the golden era of 90s house. Both original Michael and Janet remixes have long been staples in Krivit's sets and here he refines E-Smoove's Late Nite remix of 'Remember The Time' into a mix-friendly gem that keeps the essence and bumps up the beats. On the flip, Janet's 'Any Time, Any Place' appears as the beloved D&D remix, which is uplifting, funky and timeless.

That Mathias Kaden definitely knows how to put together a complete mix-cd, is clearly on display for the full-blooded DJ and house enthusiast with the 2011 compilation of the Groove CD number 40. For the 14th Watergate Compilation he bounds an edition with a key set on CD with timeless releases and evergreen classics united. These function just the same in the club on the banks of the Spree just as they would anywhere. Not least of all to thank are the three exclusive and unreleased tracks from Rodriguez Jr., Marco Resmann and Christian Burkhardt. These are finally available on vinyl and can be acquired via Freude Am Tanzen. Made for the club or the best festivals and open- airs of the summer.
