OK EG are a quietly influential force in electronic music, renowned for their masterful sound design, organic textures and meticulous arrangements. Forward thinking, always explorative and genre agnostic, the duo are at the leading edge of the Australian sound. Now entering the 10th year of their collaboration, Melbourne based producers Lauren Squire and Matthew Wilson have arrived with their own imprint called GEKO. GEKO is a platform for the duo to stretch out, freed from outside influences and in total control of the creative vision. This is high functioning dance music that bristles with confidence, expressed in vivid colour. Hypnotic, transportive and completely their own. The process is hybrid, analog machines connected directly to digital workflows. Two minds in sync.

OK EG turn inwards on Silent Green, their new release on Kia's ambient label Cirrus. Written for a live performance in Berlin, Silent Green finds balance between intimate post club dream states and low tempo rhythmic workouts. Fragmented voices harmonise with delicate synths and organic textures on open sky. Wooden machinery clicks and whirs on veil, opening into an inner expanse. Optimistic warmth and melancholy blend on spirit, knitted with resonant hi hats, scrolling wavetables and dubbed claves. Sequenced hand drums and piccolo snares create structure for rising pads and analog bass on death adder, as subtle grooves unfurl under the watchful gaze of digital crows. The artwork, created by the Amsterdam based digital artist Tharim Cornelisse, finds the cycle of life and death in the artificial environment of a greenhouse, digitally blended with patch notes from the first time the music was performed.

Wax’o Paradiso Recordings presents its debut outing on vinyl, OK EG’s Intertidal Zone EP. The new label from the long standing Naarm (Melbourne) party is set to explore hi-fidelity, landscape-driven and cerebral music from the antipodes and beyond.
After sold out pressings on local imprints Animalia and Steeplejack, this EP explores a more contemplative side of OK EG, suitable for discerning dancefloors and meditative home listening alike.
Conceived in 2019 and completed in 2020, Intertidal Zone was recorded in collaboration with percussionist Phil Stroud. The rhythm tracks are a fusion of drum machines and hand drums, loose percussion, human voices and tuned percussion immersed in water. Joined by analog synthesisers, layered vocals, processed guitar and field recordings, the music evokes solastalgia and a reverence for nature.
The final track, Golden Hour, came from an improvisation with multi-instrumentalist Adam Halliwell on flute and jazz musician Jack Doepel on Korg bass, later transposed to modular synthesiser.
Wax’o Paradiso and OK EG acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which this music was recorded, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, and pay their respects to elders past, present and emerging.

The story of how we heard about D.J. City.
Once upon a time P.P. D.J.ed in Stockholm. Picked up by legend Sling from the airport, with what I recall was a very nice old Jeep, that had a tape deck.
That Tape deck was playing a cassette that quickly caught our attention. We found out, on it was „1- 800 Techno“, a project by another local legend D.J. City. Somehow we received the tape and digital files and have been playing them ever since.
Years later we met D.J. City at a gig for Cocktail D’Amore, it was a brief and pleasant introduction as he was handing over the decks to us.
It took some more time until we really got in touch and started a work relation that quickly turned into friendship. Circa 10 years later, we have the opportunity to properly shine light on this project that started it all.
You can listen to the full release digitally and on Vinyl for the first time. „1-800 Techno“ that is Karl Lihagen & Johan Norling (aka D.J. City) with „For Several Eternals Before There Were Years“. This I guess is what you call a „full circle moment“. Enjoy!

DJ Plead kicks things off with his signature bass heavy sound on his version of The Yuzer, setting a high bar for what’s to come. Accompanying him on the A-side are a couple of cuts from label founder Dauwd. The first, “Electronic Live Mix” of SpaceSamba is inspired by Dauwd’s live performance at Mutek 2022 while his Deep Dub Mix of The Yuzer could be some of his best work to date on the imprint. PSSSH 003x enlists a diverse range of producers to reimagine the labels third offering. DJ Plead, Huerta and Aubrey all turn in stellar remixes along with 2 new remixes from Dauwd himself. DJ Plead kicks things off with his signature bass heavy sound on his version of The Yuzer, setting a high bar for what’s to come. Accompanying him on the A-side are a couple of cuts from label founder Dauwd. The first, “Electronic Live Mix” of SpaceSamba is inspired by Dauwd’s live performance at Mutek 2022 while his Deep Dub Mix of The Yuzer could be some of his best work to date on the imprint. On the flip Huerta houses up SpaceSamba which an excellent dance floor ready remix and Aubrey rounds things off with a solid groove interpretation of The Yuzer.
