The second release from Irish label IL Corpo Records comes from Dublin native Dave Hughes. The Fastplay E.P. sees the accomplished audio engineer and Dj return to production duties with 4 carefully crafted excursions into mid tempo deep house with elements of dub and techno. Having had multiple releases on John Tejada’s legendary Palette label and iRecords amongst others, the production values are top notch and well executed making this an interesting listen indeed.

"From The Beginning," marks Dave Hughes second ep release for Palette. The three songs offer different variations on a single theme. "From The Beginning" starts things off with classic sounding chords and punchy drums. "From The Start" follows the theme in a more stripped down fashion, adding vocoded percussion with a powerful stab. "Start Over" continues in a more tricked out percussive form with clever programming and synth stabs. In all a club friendly three tracker and great follow up to his first ep on Palette titled "Let's Do It," the title track having recently been featured as the first track on John Tejada's Fabric 44 cd. Dave is originally from Ireland, but currently lives in Los Angeles. He has been DJ'ing since the age of 15, initially in Dublin clubs along side many well known house DJs. He's also made his way touring around Europe, Australia, Asia and the US. He joined the current list of Palette artists in the summer of 2007 with his first vinyl release "Let's Do It." He's currently working on new productions with more soon to come.

Palette is proud to debut its newest artist, Dave Hughes. The Irish born, LA-resident sound engineer finally let Palette in on his music making secrets. The result is Dave's debut ep "Let's Do It." A three tracker showcasing what is to come from this visionary artist. "Let's Do It" kicks the ep off with a strong rhythmic solid base which alone would be enough to solidify it as a stand out track, but without delay the song quickly develops into a musical journey with rhythmic chords at the end providing the icing on the cake. The flip side provides two more tracks of the same calibre, "It all Deepends" and "Realization" showcase great sound design skills and a message about our own humanity. Take in to account the heavy subs and intricate drum programming and you have what we feel to be a classic Palette Recordings single.

In den zehn Tracks des Albums schafft Ayers eine Klangatmosphäre, die sowohl die Wärme des Sommers als auch die Raffinesse des Jazz jener Zeit heraufbeschwört, alles vor dem Hintergrund des modernen Soul. Produziert von Ayers selbst zusammen mit seinem Engineer und Freund David R. Williams zeichnet sich ELTS durch den wunderbaren Klang des Fender Rhodes Pianos von Phillip Woo sowie die kraftvolle Energie der restlichen Band aus, wodurch eine unverwechselbare Authentizität und Frische erreicht wird. Zu den bekanntesten Songs gehören der Titeltrack, "The Golden Rod" und "The Third Eye", die schnell zu Klassikern des Jazz-Funk und Soul wurden. Dam Swindle's new 'Backyard Galaxy' EP is an ode to house music and the classic Swindle sound.
It's only been a few months since Dam Swindle released their highly acclaimed album "Open" and already the boys are back on Heist with a new release that takes you right back to the dancefloor. Where they've spent the better part of the last 3 years writing their album with all its sonic explorations and collabs, this new EP sees the duo return to their roots of club-ready house music. The 'Backyard Galaxy' EP comes with 4 high-energy house tracks made in their Amsterdam studio that have been road-tested all summer.
EP opener "Feel it much?" has all the ingredients of a classic Swindle heater, with warm pads, rich organic percussion and tons of soul. There's a simple and effective vocal running throughout the track that blends nicely with the classic house elements and electronic textures that are layered throughout the track. There's an effortless flow to this track and it comes as no surprise that it has been a highlight in their sets this summer.
The EP title track 'Backyard Galaxy' is an up-tempo Latin-themed jam with a hint of old school techno. The synth stabs hit you just right and the modulated vocal chops are a lovely boost for the build ups and add a touch of swing to a track that already has a tight groove. Add to that a huge breakdown and drum roll and you've got yourself a track that'll light up any dancefloor.
On the flip, we're moving into garage territory with the shuffling vibes of 'Rhythm Baby'. The current popularity of the genre is not missed on Dam Swindle, but when you look closely, you'll see this track is full of elements that the duo have built their legacy on. The vocal chops, transposed key samples and swing are all on point and work just as well below, as above 130 bpm if speed is your thing.
The EP closes with the NY-style house cut 'What you give', which reminds us of Dam Swindle's remix of Cinthie's Heist hit 'Won't U take me' with its lush organs and moody keys. It's perhaps the most classic house track they've made in a long time and you can hear they had a great time recording this. It's playful, vibey and catchy. Just the way we like it.
Dam Swindle might have delivered one of the standout cross-over albums of 2025, but on this EP the message is clear: Once a househead, always a househead.

Following the lush listening LP outing by KAMM, the EG team is back in fine floorrocking form, this time with both label operatives on the dials as Rodney joins Dave Aju
for his debut co-production. And what a debut it is: Highly-potent, raw, swinging house
music of the highest order, complete with knocking 909 kicks, thick slapping snares,
and a hypnotic melodic call-and-response tonal section that keeps things properly
lifted and moving throughout.
The vox evoke label boss Aju’s earlier catalog work, and he’s in particularly pointed
mode here, spitting fire spoken word lines calling out various questionable corners of
the dance music scene and humanity on the whole. A bold light-shining display during
notably dark times, defending the once-sacred underground dance space against
runaway trends of ego-driven capitalism, online image over actual skill sets, and the
beyond low-ball barrier of entry into the arena. But by the time the soulful chorus lines
hit and rise us up and onward toward the blissful musical finish, it is clear that this is in
fact a unifying floor anthem and that indeed despite our differences amidst
disheartening global chaos, at least “We Still Dancin".
As always with the seasoned DJ-focussed three-piece Elbow Grease EP offerings, here
we have the full A-side OG Vocal Mix cut at a crispy and tight 45rpm, a deliciously
stripped and leveled-up EG Dub Mix on the B1, and finally the uplifting B2 Vibe Mix
which doubles-down as half ambient instrumental builder and essential acapella

Originally released in 1993, Surfing On Sine Waves is the second album released under the Warp Artificial Intelligence series (the series also includes the two titular compilations, as well as contributions by Autechre, The Black Dog, F.U.S.E. and more).
Surfing On Sine Waves is also the sole album released under Richard D. James’ (aka Aphex Twin’s) Polygon Window alias. The name “Polygon Window” originally appeared as a track name under Richard D. James’ other pseudonym The Dice Man, as the track title for his submission on Artificial Intelligence. Surfing On Sine Waves was chosen as a title by Rob Mitchell based on a quote by Richard D. James. The album debuted at #2 on the UK dance charts. The album was followed the same year with a companion EP titled Quoth. The EP’s title track originally appeared on the album, accompanied by additional songs who first appeared on this release.
Fast forward 32 years to 2025, Surfing On Sine Waves (Expanded Edition) sees the pair of companion releases as a single entity, out on vinyl and CD.
