Mighty Diamonds - Give Me the Right
Previously unreleased. Both sides with dub.
A-side is mastertape mixes, B-side is the original early 1980s dubplate mixes.
Comes in Bond Export company sleeve.
Killer previously unreleased early 1980s Mighty Diamonds straight from producer Gussie Clarke, tuff steppers cut of the Heptones classic. This tune made the rounds on dubplate back at the time, but never ended up seeing release. On the A-side we have the mastertape mix, a hard but spare mix of this canon JA tune, that recalls the dry and heavy 1980 Taxi style that we've recently issued some fine examples of. On the B-side we have the original dubplate mixes which were around on plate at the time, mixed down in proper plate style like you would have gotten from Slipe Road if you had the juice. Like our previous Tetrack 45, comes on the lovely "Dubwise Made in

Mighty Diamonds - The Roots Is There (Raw Cut)
2
Mighty Diamonds & Curtis Lynch - Raw Version 7
Previously unreleased mixes.
After their epic run with Channel One beginning in the mid 1970's, the Mighty Diamonds moved to producer Gussie Clarke for a string of albums starting in 1979 and running thru the 1980s. Among the many many great tunes from this run, the title track of their 1982 album "The Roots Is There" is simply one of the Diamond's best ever, and probably the most lyrically militant tune they ever made. This tune was never released as a single at the time, though new mixes were released as a single in 2017. But prior to the release of the album back in the day, this song was played on dubplate in a raw mix without the horns and added percussion that made it onto the final album mix. This raw vocal cut, followed by a raw instrumental version, changes the whole tone of the tune and brings it into another level of militancy right up there with the hardest stuff you can name, even in an era filled with so many extra tough stepping classics. Rather than remaster from an old dubplate, for this 45 we had producer Gussie Clarke and Music Works' close associate engineer Curtis Lynch go back to the original tapes, and with an original dubplate as reference, perfectly recreate the original raw cut, now released in pristine tape quality. Again we present this release on Music Works' original early 1980s dubplate label design, just like the original slate would have been adorned with. If you only know the sweet harmony side of the Diamonds, give this one a try to see their other tuff side, and listen to the lyrics, as relevant to the struggles of right now as they were in 1982.

Tetrack - Chant Down War

Tetrack - Chant Dubwise
Killer previously unreleased mid '80s Tetrack tune finally out on road. Astute dubplate fiends may have heard this played by Rodigan back in the day, and others may know the Mighty Diamonds' later recording of the song. But the original cut is this one, written by Carlton Hines and performed by his group, the great Tetrack. Here it is in pristine quality straight from Gussie Clarke's master tapes, and mixed faithfully in style to the original dubplate cut, by Music Works' associate Curtis Lynch. Comes on the lovely "Dubwise Made in Jamaica" version of the Music Works label, which was used exclusively for dubplates cut at Gussie's original studio back in the early to mid '80s.

B2 Let Your Body Go (Instrumental)
Press text: "Cake" was a New York band formed in 1973, following a line-up tweak and a change from their previous name "Mixed Company" (referring to the racially mixed personell). At Arabellum Studios in Colony, Albany, NY, the band recorded their only 7-inch single. "Make Up Your Mind" / "Let Your Body Go" was released on Key Records in 1979.
Half a life time later, after appearing in DJ mixes and online auctions in the late 2000s, the single started gaining notoriety among DJs and dig-gers. Working its way up to "holy grail" status on the modern soul and disco collector scene, original copies of the sought after record would eventually sell for as high as $1000.
In 2012, Hans Jørgen Wærner (Mutual Intentions Co-Founder and notorious disco collector) got in touch with Arabellum studio owner Art Snay who produced the record. This lead him to lead singer Bob Treffiletti who had a cassette tape with unreleased long versions of the songs. The sound quality of the tape was not adequate for what Hans had in mind, and so the hunt for the original master tapes began! Unfortunately, Art Snay later passed away. At one point chances of finding the original recordings seemed so slim, the project was all but abandoned….
Luckily, Bob managed to get hold of the master tapes via Art's wife and they were sent away to legendary disco mixer / remixer John Morales, who transferred the tape to digital format. After several rounds in one of Norway's best mastering studios (Strype Audio), noise reduction and sound surgery were done while retaining the soul of the original recordings. The songs were finally ready to be pressed on the format they have always deserved: the 12-inch disco single!
The 12-inch comes with four 5 min + long songs and can be pre-ordered now. The high-quality lacquer cut pressing is produced at Optimal Media in Germany and limited.

5. Oceans Reflections
6. Ce Matin-Là (Tour-Maubourg Remix)
Following a debut EP praised for its freshness and boldness, S-Pazz returns with Birth of
Light, a second release that fully confirms the potential of the Parisian duo. Blending elements
of house, jazz, broken beat, and ambient, the record sees them refine their musical identity
with a more intimate and introspective approach, yet always deeply rhythmic and luminous.
Composed four-hands during a moment of personal transition, the EP feels like a rite of
passage where music becomes a space of unity, resilience, and imagination.
“This EP reflects a major transition in our lives, as it was written during Nathan’s move out of the
shared flat where we also had our studio. Despite the change, we managed to preserve the unique
creative world that defines the identity of S-Pazz. We deliberately infused it with a wide range of
influences, spanning different eras and cultures. ‘Birth of Light’ builds on the foundations laid with our
first EP: crafting music at the crossroads of our respective influences, always driven by our love for
cinematic soundscapes.” S-Pazz
The opening track, “Ce Matin-Là”, unfolds with a dreamlike atmosphere, led by lush string
arrangements from Nathan’s father, a double bassist already sampled on their first EP. “We wanted to
get closer to those tracks that bridge electronic and orchestral music, like what 4Hero, Bonobo, or
even Air have done,” explains S-Pazz. The track also gets a reinterpretation from Tour-Maubourg,
who delivers a deep house remix tinged with bossa nova, infusing the piece with a warm, summery,
and organic tone that extends the EP’s globe-trotting spirit.
With “Together”, the Parisian duo pays tribute to the UK broken beat scene through a syncopated
and generous track where analog synths and live grooves coexist with subtle balance. “We wrote it in
Instagram | Youtube | TikTok | SoundCloudthe summer of 2024. It combines a lot of sampling and a growing passion for synths we’ve developed
over time. For the percussion, we drew a lot of inspiration from producers like Da Lata, 4hero, and
Chaos in the CBD.”
“My Heart” captures the EP’s dancefloor soul, a hybrid of broken beat, jazz, and funk. Warm brass,
Prophet 5 bass doubled with a Rhodes, and a breathy vocal that bridges groove and emotion. “It’s a
blend of jazz, dub, and funk. Club music that speaks to the body as much as to the heart.”
The fruit of a year-long process, “Bees Die After Stinging” brings together afro-influenced 6/8
rhythms, field recordings of beehives, and finely crafted jazz arrangements. The illusion of a live band
is meticulously constructed in-studio. “We’re especially proud of this track, it really captures the
meeting point between our two musical worlds.”
The closing track, “Ocean Reflections”, deliberately breaks away from classic house structure,
embracing a freer, more ambient form. It brings the EP to a contemplative and fluid end. “We wanted
to close the EP with something special, no four-on-the-floor kick, but a preserved groove that invites
introspection. We invited our friend Claire Grunenberger to sing, and Grégoire added a jazz solo as a
tribute to the early days of St Germain.”
S-Pazz is a project formed by Nathan and Grégoire, close friends and creative partners both on and
off stage. Their music reflects a rare intersection of jazz, house, broken beat, and narrative-driven
electronic music, shaped by their distinct backgrounds: Grégoire is a jazz-trained multi-instrumentalist,
while Nathan is a DJ and beatmaker influenced by hip-hop and raised in a family of musicians. Their
debut EP Tales of Dancing Waters (2024) quickly caught the attention of listeners and curators alike,
racking up hundreds of thousands of streams and landing on playlists alongside artists like Berlioz,
Barry Can’t Swim, Dublon, and Tour-Maubourg. Now, with Birth of Light, the duo takes a major step
forward in their evolution, laying the foundation for a deeply personal, immersive, and resolutely
luminous musical language.

Info:
Welcome to Pfefferkorn: a countryside studio hidden inside a former 1950s café. The stylish interior stayed, the cake display is gone, but the mountain panorama is still very much in place. Out of this unlikely combination came Obsolescence, Feater's new album and a record that wasn't supposed to happen, but insisted on doing so anyway.
Originally, Pfefferkorn hosted a merry-go-round of guests and genres: jazz, kraut, pop, experiments, even the occasional field recording. Among the many, Mara Oldofredi aka Mietze Conte became the most frequent and inspiring visitor. Their sessions set sparks, and one of them, "Trio," landed directly on the album.
The method? Call it instant archaeology: live jams on two-track tape, then pushed through edits, resampling, Fairlight IIX sorcery, and endless tape-laptop relays. Quick, raw, and without too much overthinking, more sketch than sculpture, more instinct than intent.
The result is Obsolescence, a record born out of detours, made for personal delight, and proof that side products can be main courses if you let them.

Clement Moore - Everytime I Do My Thing
2
Clement Moore - Everytime Dub
Same rhythm as DKR-248and DKR-306.
Clement "Minkie" Moore's introduction to the music business came via his friend the great deejay U Roy. Back in the mid 1970s, Minkie and U Roy were both living in the Tower Hill area of Kingston, and U Roy was resident deejay on King Tubby's sound system. Minkie followed his friend and the sound, and occasionally U Roy let him hold the mic and deejay on Tubby's set. U Roy encouraged Minkie to take music more seriously, and with that encouragement, his first record "Wickedness" was made. Minkie got a cut of a rhythm from his friend the late Sydney Wilson, and voiced and mixed the rugged deejay tune "Wickedness" at King Tubby's studio. Sydney had earlier voiced this rhythm as a tune called "Why Do I Cry", but alongside "Wickedness", voiced it again with a new vocal called "Time Has Gone". In fact that tune and "Wickedness" share the same dub version. Clement continued to move in the music scene, next recording for Harry J's Jaywax label in 1979 with a tune called "Jah Is Real", as a duo named UNI-TONE along with his friend Denzil. Then in 1980, Clement revisited the great rhythm of "Wickedness", deciding to this time sing rather than deejay on the rhythm. He returned to Harry J studio, adding some choice new instrumental overdubs on the rhythm for this new cut, "Every Time I Do My Thing." In the decades since, astute roots collectors have honed in on this excellent rhythm and its several cuts, not least of all this pair of them by Mr. Clement "Minkie" Moore. It should be noted that in the manner of the day, other associates of Tubby's studio, Prophets Yabby You and Alric Forbes, also utilized this rhythm. Minkie's musical journey continued thru the 1980s, when he linked with American group Lambsbread, writing and performing on their second album which was recorded at Channel 1 in early 1987. In the 1990's Clement returned to self-production on his Allah label, in addition to cutting a 45 for Chinna Smith's High Times label. Nowadays Clement is still going strong, occasionally dropping new music like "Greedy", recorded at Bravo's Small World studio in downtown Kingston.

Cybernetic disco maestro Patrick Cowley returns to Dark Entries with From Behind, a collection of grooving and ecstatic covers of 60s garage and soul cuts. Best known for his chart-topping disco anthems, Cowley left us with an incredible body of work before his tragic death in 1982 due to AIDS-related illness. Since 2009, Dark Entries has been working with Cowley’s friends and family to uncover the singular artist’s lesser-known sides, including his soundtracks for films on compilation albums School Daze, Muscle Up, and Afternooners. From Behind reveals yet another facet of Cowley’s myriad influences; garage and soul. As a tripped-out teenage music freak who arrived in 60’s San Francisco, it should come as no surprise that these psychedelic sounds, both heady and visceral, infuse Cowley’s oeuvre. Recorded during Cowley’s most productive period, ‘80-’82, these tracks show the master flexing his virtuosity while paying loving tribute to the songs that shaped him. A rough draft of Loverde’s “Iko Iko” contorts the jaunty Dixie Cups classic into a slithering, monstrous bathhouse groover, the song’s signature claps draped in cavernous reverb. An unexpected hi-NRG cover of The Doors’ “20th Century Fox” has Paul Parker on vocals, ironically twisting the original’s overt heterosexuality. Via Cowley’s vocoder, The Who’s “Shakin’ All Over” is transformed into a haunting meditation on the loss of bodily autonomy that AIDS inflicts, while the Moody Blues’ “Ride My See Saw” appears in instrumental, amped up and synthesized for dancefloor impact. We’re also graced with instrumental demo versions of The Seeds’ “Pushin’ Too Hard” and The Electric Prunes’ “Too Much To Dream (Last Night),” which later appeared on Paul Parker releases. Things close out with a swinging version of the Four Tops’ Motown classic “Baby I Need Your Loving”, Cowley later reimagined for R&B artist Carl Carlton. The record comes housed in a sleeve designed by Gwenaël Rattke and includes an insert with photos and liner notes written by Louis Niebur. Arriving on October 19th in celebration of what would have been Cowley’s 74th birthday, From Behind gives us yet another glimpse into Cowley’s world: iconic, erotic, and more than a little cheeky.

Junior Kahdaffie - Special Effects Version
One of our all time favorite New York dancehall tunes, finally back again. 20+ years ago, in a different era of reggae record collecting where there was little to no information to be found about so many '80s reggae records, the original 12 inch single of this one was a mythical tune among our set of friends. In fact this one was on the earliest DKR wish lists, but all good things take time. By now we expect most of our followers know Junior's digital masterpiece "Rampers Music", which we first issued in 2014, and is now back in stock. But this one is his earliest and first tune, a heavy piece of a rub a dub cut at Munchie Jackson's Sunshine Studio in the Bronx, with Jackie Mittoo at the helm of the session. The original 12 inch was self released by Junior on his own label in 1985, with one of our all time favorite label designs. The lyrics are a great snapshot of mid 80s New York, a nod to all those making their way, for better or worse, thru the posses and cliques of the Jamaican scene of the day.

Better-than-before new edition of our long out of press previous 10" from 2014, now with something extra. This release corrals three excellent vocals that originally appeared on a couple different compilations. For this new 12" release, with "Home To Africa", instead of the cut from "Wackie's Selective Showcase Vol. 1" LP as before, we have the tune in a different mix straight from the original session tape, plus a nice raw rhythm version, newly mastered by Bullwackie himself just for this re-release.
