On Oath’s latest release, the imprint are proud to present the latest offering from London-based producer and DJ Tom Jarmey, on a record that sweeps beautifully across the electronic music palette and comes forth sparkling, enticing, and enveloping all at the same time..

On his musical journey to date, Jarmey has showcased a particular dexterity to crafting music, a polymath of sorts who has been able to nurture his sound carefully as to expand into and above multiple facets of Dance music and electronica. His musical universe is one permeated by a series of prevailing threads that come together at very exciting thresholds, a dizzying array of sounds that boil and simmer with intensity and intelligence, whilst always sounding thoughtful and expertly crafted. Its a journey that has seen Jarmey experiment sonically within the realms of House, Ambient, D’n’B, Jungle, Breaktbeat, Electro, techno and so on and so forth, and within all of these musical spaces Jarmey has always found a balance and a rhythm which sounds and feels so exciting to the ears and to the heart. His releases speak for themselves, a continual build-up and release exercise that has seen his sound grow and prosper into new and bold realms, with Wing Theory, X-Kalay, Holding Hands, Dansu Discs, and the like all calling themselves homes of Jarmey’s music. His work also as Ocean Stirs and as a member of Mother of Pearls (alongside Birmingham-based producer Ed Hodge) only adds further to his sonic mystique and depth, and as a place to walk back into there is plenty to delve deep within and linger for a while.

‘Swing Through Spaces’ is an apt title for his latest effort, building upon his fluid explorations of genres and musical in-betweens as a new representation of his ever-evolving musical narrative. The overall feel of the record has a real concise notion to it, simmering around the undergrowth with plenty of hypnotic low-end frequencies but with a constant emergence into the upper echelons of melody and tone. ‘Portal’ and ‘Fuse’, which get things started, both display a swinging rhythmic outlay with cascading key sequences that merge and blend so beautifully, with a keen eye evidently placed upon how one segment moves into the next. ‘Dusk’ and ‘Deep Space’ provide the record’s downtime moments, but in quite different ways. ‘Dusk’ is a pure, breezy meander through the summertime, with the bass line carrying the beat atop which sits a bird song melody of sorts with inspired vocal work, creating a head nodder for the ages. ‘Deep Speed’ however is a mind bender, as the arpeggios are set free within a cavernous space that only expands further as you begin to focus on the notes being played out.

The tracks ‘Negative’, which features Kitty Noble, and ‘Stay Hidden’, take things away into choppy, ever-shifting spaces. ‘Negative’ is a real gem, with that D’n’B rhythm providing the perfect foil for ever-shifting melodic patterns to swing in and out of view. It has that very clear reference point to the 90s era of D’n’B, where headspace drifting was most encouraged, and with Noble’s vocal work there is so much to connect with on this track. ‘Stay Hidden’ is ever so slightly different, with an inherent focus on looping segments and short but sweet vocal samples, this one rolls with a different intent – but it’s just as significant.

What great record wouldn’t be complete without a couple of remixes, and here the talents of Synkro and Son of Philips are employed to work out ‘Negative’ and ‘Deep Speed’ respectively. Negative is taken deeper than before, with the kicks occupying the space with flickering of breaks allowed to keep things moving onwards. Noble’s vocals are given a different kind of space in which to shine, as the horns, keys, and the like are spaced out to provide an incredible experience. Finally, the ‘Deeper Mix’ by Son of Philips creates a trance-like rethinking of ‘Deep Speed’, and it’s the final piece of the puzzle with this real statement of intent – a glorious slice of melodic bliss that makes this record feel like it could continue to go places, even after the final note has played out.

Tom Jarmey has achieved a fair amount throughout his career to date it must be said, and on ‘Swing Through Spaces’ there is a feeling as if a lot more is there to be written. A record that points to the future as much as the past, but in the here and now it speaks volumes, providing plenty of room to dive in and enjoy its bountiful feelings and tones, all wrapped up in an atmosphere of exploration that continually pushes outwards. Multidisciplinary artist Yannick Verhoeven, aka Ramses3000, is back with a new album called ‘Thalamus’. “Twee” is Tsepo’s debut mini-album. The beautiful 6-tracker strikes a balance between breaks, percussive house, and glitchy ambient. Tsepo has been around as a DJ for over 8 years. He played Trouw, Heidegluhen, Lowlands, Shelter, DGTL, Wildeburg, and more. On “Twee”, he combines emotive melodies with expertly produced beats. The diversity of the music is perhaps best expressed in how easily the glitchy ambient works "Dough" and "Max" go together with the resonating techno track "La Vaca Vega" and the uplifting title track "Twee". Founded in 2020 by Austrian producer Lee Stevens, Rising Seed has evolved into a joint venture with Ken Hayakawa and a collective of guest musicians. Blending Acid Jazz, Trip Hop, and Disco, the project bridges the warmth of live instrumentation with the depth of electronic production.
With a strong focus on recording and re sampling real instruments, Rising Seed crafts a rich, organic sound—where vintage samplers, drum machines, and analog textures meet hypnotic grooves and cinematic atmospheres. Inspired by artists like Moby, Kruder & Dorfmeister, and Massive Attack, their debut album True Lies unfolds like a layered collage, blurring the lines between past and future, truth and illusion.
The opening track, “Follow Me,” perfectly embodies this fusion: sampled instruments and vocal snippets blend seamlessly with live recordings of flute and saxophone, all set against a funky drum break. “Gone West” does the unthinkable—marrying a house groove with esoteric vocals, live sitar by Amrith Jan, and—why not?—a touch of harmonica. “Like A Lion” is a dub-infused downbeat track packed with crusty blues samples.
On “Freedom,” we hear a more minimalist side of Rising Seed, with a tight brush-drum arrangement and densely layered sitar melodies. Another high point is “Soldier of Peace,” featuring even more funky sitar and a subtle acid line, reminiscent of the early days of big beat. It’s followed by “True Lies,” which elegantly distills the downbeat sound of the late '90s while staying true to the Rising Seed formula.
“Psych Jazz” is, as the title suggests, both psychedelic and jazzy, albeit with a somber, low-slung trip-hop feel, while “Don’t Worry” is equally trippy yet more upbeat, carried by a moaning vocal sample that urges us not to worry. Finally, “Stay with Me” closes the album with a jazz-infused vibe that is both moody and uplifting, its shuffling drum groove and elegant piano melodies providing a fitting conclusion.

Welcome to Pfefferkorn: a countryside studio hidden inside a former 1950s café. The stylish interior stayed, the cake display is gone, but the mountain panorama is still very much in place. Out of this unlikely combination came Obsolescence, Feater's new album and a record that wasn't supposed to happen, but insisted on doing so anyway.

Originally, Pfefferkorn hosted a merry-go-round of guests and genres: jazz, kraut, pop, experiments, even the occasional field recording. Among the many, Mara Oldofredi aka Mietze Conte became the most frequent and inspiring visitor. Their sessions set sparks, and one of them, "Trio," landed directly on the album.
The method? Call it instant archaeology: live jams on two-track tape, then pushed through edits, resampling, Fairlight IIX sorcery, and endless tape-laptop relays. Quick, raw, and without too much overthinking, more sketch than sculpture, more instinct than intent.
The result is Obsolescence, a record born out of detours, made for personal delight, and proof that side products can be main courses if you let them.

Steve Moore reprises his beloved Lovelock guise by presenting his unique riff on the library breaks genre. Business And Pleasure contains grimy groove and sleazy, funk-laden lounge music.

This vinyl release is hyper-limited, with just 500 pressed for the world.

The LP is ushered in by the spacey synth-funk of the sleazy, woozy title track. This is that serious slo-mo cosmic-balearic head-nod shit. Laidback bass, heavy funk with dreamy synth and electric guitars. An outstanding opener. Up next, the dynamic, swaggering "Last Call" is a sophisticated, elegant stroll - sweeping, mellow strings, a smooth bassline and gorgeous percussion with urgent keys and swelling synths.

"Slinky Strut" is another spaced-out, sleazy funk groove with jazz rock by way of a heavy, heavy guitar riff, mellotron and bass breakdowns which build to brass crescendos. Gigantic. "First Class" closes out the side, and, like classic Hawkshaw / Bennett noir, it's got that mysterious and murky stretched out sleuth / detective soul with a great bassline and percussive elements, with swelling strings, ace synths and smooth Rhodes piano melodies entering the mix halfway through. Dramatic guitars and groovy percussion add extra intrigue. It's 7 minutes of funk!

Side B opens with the stretched-out psychedelic funk and jazz groove of "Stank 49". It takes its sweet time to unfurl, creating enormous - almost sensual - anticipation for the ensuing beauty but, as it does, we're left beguiled and straight-up hypnotised. Heaven-sent synth flourishes and a laidback bassline over smooth drums cement its simple, vivacious grace. "Dangerous Man" is that creeping crime funk we all love; heavy bass and fuzzy guitar riffs, mellow strings and sumptuous piano/synths. It's irresistible, it's ominous and it's pretty gargantuan. It's basically like an El-P hip-hop instrumental. We need to get some rappers over this stuff, stat!

"Stinkbug" is a dazzling and funky groove-fuelled jazz-rock workout with fizzing synth riffs joined by full percussion and drum breaks, building with strings to a strong swagger. Vigour! To close out this remarkable set, the breezy "Win Or Lose" is laidback soul-inflected funk, utilising urgent, skipping drums and galloping basslines. Just stunning.

This collection was written and recorded in Spring and Summer of ’24. Everything was tracked at Steve's home studio in Albany, NY except the drums and percussion, which were recorded by Jeff Gretz at his space in NYC. The whole collection is basically a rhythm section feature, so Steve's Rickenbacker 4003 and Fender Jazz Bass play very prominently. The bass guitar serves as lead instrument in a lot of these tracks. Also, lots of Rhodes and stringers (Solina, Logan etc) and guitar (Strat and Les Paul). He even dusted off my sax for this one, which he doesn’t do as often as he’d like!

This type of groove-oriented library music has been a steady part of Steve's diet since the late 90’s. In heavy rotation while writing this collection were the following classics: “Time Signals” by Klaus Weiss, “Tilsley Orchestral No. 10” by Reg Tilsley, and “Heavy Truckin’” by Simon Haseley. “Voyage” by Brian Bennett was also a big one.

Lovelock started as a dedicated Italo-disco project, but over the years Steve expanded it to include anything directly informed by the commercial/pop side of the music of his childhood (70s/80s). Writing and recording this album was, like a lot of Steve's music these days, basically a test to see whether or not he could do it.

The song titles, like the music, are meant to be evocative yet vague. But there is a bit of a travel theme. Steve imagined this record being the soundtrack to a sleazy salesman’s business trip. The kind of guy who, when asked if he’s traveling for business or pleasure, responds “both.” Beyond the traveling salesman comparison, the title directly relates to the creation of this album. This was something he wanted to do just for his own enjoyment. Yet, like our sleazy salesman, he still found a way to get paid.

The album’s cover was designed by Chris Stevenson, with no little direction from Steve. He knew that he wanted to go with something photography-based for this cover so, in true DIY/cheapskate spirit, Steve started by looking through his own photos. He found the cover image on his phone, taken through an almost empty bottle of beer, and it clicked. The whole album has a very boozy vibe (especially with titles like “Last Call”) so this shot seemed appropriate. We, hic, agree.

Mastering for this vinyl edition was overseen by Be With regular Simon Francis, and it was cut by the esteemed Cicely Balston at Abbey Road Studios to be pressed in the Netherlands by Record Industry.

Cody, the London multi-talent musician and Kapote, the Berlin based creative head of Toy Tonics have a lot in common. Both come from studying jazz, knowing different instruments, having played in bands and at the same time being DJs with a huge passion and the skill to rock thousands of people every weekend at the Toy Tonics Jams with a wild mix of different music. They have what we call THE VIBE. Soulful, catchy, intense. When they play records at a party and when they work on tracks. Both play keyboards, bass, guitar and drums. Both sing. And both have funny nicknames that journalists gave them: Cody Currie was called "the Tom Misch of House music" and Kapote the "Wes Anderson of electronic music". Makes us laugh, but also fits well. The sixteenth release on the Moll-Selekta label shares its title with a wonderful film, a heartwarming homage to the golden age of rocksteady. It documents the recordings being made for this very album at the Tuff Gong studios, Kingston, Jamaica in April 2008, telling the story of the original vocalists and musicians involved. Excerpts from an all star reunion concert staged in Kingston and older archive material complete the picture. Never before in the history of Jamaica, which already occupies a unique place on the world map of song, its sound embraced by western popular music, has such an illustrious collection of singers and players been assembled. The album showcases 15 rocksteady classics in sparkling, deeply inspired new versions, recorded in the studio which also played host to album sessions of a certain Bob Marley. Under the musical direction of Ernest Ranglin, a guitarist of considerable renown not only on the reggae circuit, but also on the jazz scene, mixed by legendary engineer Errol Brown - in Duke Reid's employ at the Treasure Isle studio in the sixties - and freshly arranged by Lynn Taitt.

Can't Stop .There seems no better way to describe the work, party and music ethic of Solomun. Carrying the mirror ball on his shoulders like Atlas, it is impossible to imagine the modern disco world without his dynamics. While his countless DJ sets give fresh impetus to the many shades of house, techno and their siblings, conversely they are a driving force behind his studio and remix excursions. Resulting from a rather casual after-dinner-listening-session during a car ride on Ibiza with a zesty Gerd Janson, who coaxed the title track out of Solomun making use of their friendship to full capacity, it is a triptych of direct, functional and free-spirited dance floor approach.
