Elder Ward & The Ward Singers - It'll All Be Over
2
Victory Travelers - Power Lord
Celestial Echo (miche & Stu Clark) team up with Divine Disco’s Greg Belson to launch a brand-new 7-inch series spotlighting Detroit’s powerhouse gospel, soul and R&B label — HOB (House of Beauty). Founded in 1956 by Mrs. Carmen Murphy, HOB wasn't just a label — it was a beacon. From the basement of her beauty salon on Detroit’s West Side, she ran one of the most important Black-owned gospel imprints of the 20th century. At a time when both the music industry and the country were stacked against her, Mrs. Murphy built a sanctuary for soul — a Black woman-owned business and creative hub in volatile times.
This inaugural 7-inch kicks off with two in-demand killers:
Side A: Elder Ward & The Ward Singers – "It’ll All Be Over" A fast-paced gospel dancer with a monster groove, killer breaks and heart-wrenching vocal delivery — this one’s a guaranteed floor-filler and rarely surfaces for less than £250 on the collector circuit, if at all. Urgent, uplifting, and impossible to ignore.
Side B: Victory Travelers – "Power Lord" Another holy grail moment — deep, raw, and unshakeably soulful. Rare in its original form, often fetching close to £100, it’s a heavy dose of electrified gospel sure to hit home with fans of deep soul and spiritual funk alike. Fully licensed and remastered, this 7-inch comes housed in a custom Celestial Echo / Divine Disco series sleeve with a faithful reproduction of the HOB label.

The Medlows - Love (Part One)

The Medlows - Admin Edit
Celestial Echo is back with another funky bomb on 45, a hyper-rare track that only came out on demo from the label Midland International, The Medlows “Love (Part 1)" has been a secret spin for a lot of soul djs. A real favourite of label boss miche - he just featured it on his latest comp even, but this 45 is backed with a dancefloor ready extended edit from Bristol disco king Admin.
This has to be some of the heaviest soul to ever be pressed and kept in the shadows, once it’s in your record bag, it wont be leaving in a hurry.
buy or cry!

The Royal Travelers - Jesus Hold My Hand
Celestial Echo (miche & Stu Clark) team up with Divine Disco’s Greg Belson to continue their 7-inch series spotlighting Detroit’s powerhouse gospel, soul and R&B label — HOB (House of Beauty).
This second 7-inch gives us two more in-demand killers:
Side A: Messiahs of Glory - “Can’t Find No Other Love"
Lp only before, this track makes its way to a 45 for the first time, super feel good soulful number. Uptempo with a glorious vocal, this one is built for the discerning dancefloor.
Side B: The Royal Travelers - “Jesus Hold My Hand”
raw, soulful and defining of the era. Rarer than rare and never before sold online, it’s a heavy dose of funky gospel oozing with breaky drums and soul.
Fully licensed and remastered, this 7-inch comes housed in a custom Celestial Echo / Divine Disco series sleeve with a faithful reproduction of the HOB label.

Phylliss Bailey - Life
Originally released in 1978 on Americom Records. Officially reissued for the first time with love by Celestial Echo Records.
Some records just have that magic. A vibe that pulls you in from the first note and doesn’t let go. Phylliss Bailey’s 1978 cult classic Phylliss is one of those records—a hidden gem of modern soul and disco that’s been doing the rounds for decades in underground scenes, on dancefloors, and among collectors who know. It’s been whispered about in the right circles, bootlegged and then bootlegged again—but never given a proper reissue… Until now.
Celestial Echo Records proudly presents the first official reissue of Phylliss, a record that’s as essential today as it was back then. Originally released on the independent Americom label, the LP flew under the radar in its day but has since become a secret weapon for DJs with a taste for the modern soul & disco sound.
Phylliss Bailey’s voice is pure class—gliding over lush arrangements, tight rhythm sections, and dreamy strings with ease. Whether she’s riding the groove on dancefloor bombs like 'Focus' and 'Release Me' or slowing it down on the smouldering 'Feeling Of Love,' Bailey brings emotional weight and undeniable swagger to every track.
Fully remastered and officially licensed, it brings Phylliss into the light where it belongs. With a reimagined sleeve and labels (to distinguish from some shady copies going around!). This record is looking and sounding better than ever.
Celestial Echo Records is a label devoted to the soulful and the timeless. Based in London and run by miche & Stu Clark, the imprint has been steadily carving out a reputation among collectors and DJs for high-quality, lovingly curated reissues of rare modern soul, boogie, and disco. With each release, they shine a light on overlooked gems that still resonate deeply in today’s clubs and dancefloors. Phylliss is the next jewel in their growing catalogue of essential rediscoveries.

More Modern Soul madness from the team at Celestial Echo. No Stranger To Love is one of those rare tracks that crosses over both Modern and Northern scenes & has long been a favourite of collectors and selectors with original copies regularly changing hands for £100 + on the second hand market.
This lead to the synth laden funk track being picked up by Dam Funk & the Stones Throw crew, who shone a new light on the track via online mixes which has only increased the demand.
Officially reissued for the first time in 40 years and as always, officially licenced and remastered by Celestial Echo Records. Needless to say, buy or cry.

DO call it a comeback! After no less than 22 years Vienna's veteran beat maestros Urbs & Cutex release their third album "On Our Way". Full of laid-back vibes and dope beats this surprising release finds them in fine form, staying true to their trademark sound while subtly expanding and evolving to create a unique blend of HipHop and Downtempo.
Urbs & Cutex (pronounced Cut Ex) are a duo from Vienna specialising in laid-back instrumental music that combines classic East Coast Hip Hop with elements of Triphop and Downtempo. Both started out as DJs in the early 90s making their first steps in production separately before connecting to form what is considered one of the defining groups out of Vienna's rich electronic scene of the period. The two albums released in the early 2000s are being rediscovered by new generations of listeners and have accumulated millions of plays on various streaming platforms. After a hiatus of 22 years, several solo albums (amongst others Urbs' solo outings "Toujours Le Meme Film" and "Geheimland") and dozens of singles, remixes and collaborations they join forces again to find their mojo still fully intact, continuing exactly where they had stopped two decades earlier. With charming stubbornness they create music that will sound retro to some and timeless to others. "We search for everlasting truths" they calmly state. The album begins with the familiar style of their 2003 album "Peace Talks!", combining soulful and jazzy loops with dope HipHop beats, even surprising us with what is the first rap part on any of their albums courtesy of New York's T.R.A.C. (of Visioneers fame). A few songs in the style evolves into something new and entirely unique, as they use elaborate arrangements and artful layering of samples to create songs that go beyond mere loops prevalent in HipHop.
Over the duration of 14 tracks Urbs & Cutex expertly balance uplifting moments with deep and hypnotic sequences. They create a laid-back atmosphere but manage to avoid the dullness of chillout music and the stale uniformity of modern Lo-fi and Boom Bap.

The Jade - Need To Get Back
Having carved out a place in the contemporary club scene with releases on Glitterbox/Defected, Boogie Angst & Lovemonk Records amongst others, Madrid's Casbah 73 recently shed his skin and is now ready to introduce The Jade, a live ensemble that prioritises emotion, excitement and the art of the song. Led by Oli Stewart (Casbah 73), the project brings together a remarkable group of players. At its core, this is about people: musicians in dialogue, shaping rhythms and melody, singing songs from the heart, that shared pulse based on a timeless musical vocabulary. Opening with the exuberant 'Let The Light In', this is sizzling hi-jazz and sunny soul, shot through with a dose of funky Afro-Latin rhythms for good measure. Josh Hoyer leads the charge, delivering a powerhouse vocal performance, while Nia Martin and Deborah Ayo bring that gospel glow. As, indeed, they continue to do so throughout, especially on the deep, soulful standout 'When Love Left' or the shimmering, street soul meets Brit-funk feel of 'Change!' Experience the spontaneity and playful nature of tracks like 'Si No Me Quieres Esperar' (with Cuban maestro Ale Gutiérrez on vocals) infused with funky Latin and Brazilian rhythms, as well as sparkling, alien disco dub in the form of 'Space Lines'. There's no-holds, hands-in-the-air, fluid disco club grooves on 'What It Takes' and driving, riotous soul-jazz on 'Being Seen'. Just when you think you've got it figured out, the band change it up and stretch out with beautiful jazz-funk instrumentals like 'At The Queensboro' or lush sonic gem 'On That Strange', a track that feels like a long, blissful afternoon fading into evening, with things left unspoken in the air and mystery in its kinky grooves. The Jade's sound is post-pout, studs up, raw soul, free from modern dancefloor tyranny. It's intimate disco, dead-selfie freedom, Afro-Latin jazz-dance and Iberian funk all rolled into one, rooted in emotion and shot through with a healthy dose of funky bad ass groovism. Genres that blend and bleed into each other following one simple idea: songs and the expressive power of live instrumentation.

Blazing with raw energy and searing guitar riffs, the second album from Blues Creation—the legendary rock band led by guitarist Kazuo Takeda—is a cornerstone of Japan’s hard rock legacy. Drawing heavy inspiration from the likes of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, this record delivers a powerful, riff-driven sound that helped shape the dawn of Japanese hard rock. What sets it apart is its hypnotic blend of British-style heavy rock with vocals sung in English tinged with a distinctly Japanese flavor—creating a one-of-a-kind psychedelic atmosphere that continues to mesmerize rock enthusiasts across the globe.

With its non-placed devices and hard-to-pin-down aesthetic falling between electronic and psychedelic music and the warm-hued sounds of traditional acoustic instruments, Burnt Friedman’s Zokuhen (‘second edition’), produced exclusively for vinyl, may be considered an extension (or second instalment) of Bokoboko (non33, released in February 2012). On this new double EP, too, the music focuses on uneven rhythms that dictate the groove for all the participating musical elements and display a formal logic to which all the instruments gladly succumb. With its even rhythm and proximity to dub reggae, the track ‘Kon Ki (C2)’ shows that exceptions from the rule are permitted among the six new tracks and two re-worked Bokoboko themes that round off this follow-up.

ZUG is without a doubt one of the leading and most compelling forces in contemporary European body and minimal electronic music. Once again joining forces with Ora´culo Records, they present a retrospective that traces the arc of their already extensive and influential career. The result is a powerful compilation that blends previously unreleased material with some of their most iconic tracks to date—specially remixed and remastered for this edition. Every piece captures ZUG’s signature approach: a fusion of machine precision and raw physicality that transcends genre limitations. Tailored for fans of truly experimental, humanized electronica, primal drum patterns, and proto, body-shaking basslines, this release is a visceral listening experience from beginning to end. This is body music in its purest form. Presented in a ONE-OFF, truly limited edition of 300 copies, lacquer-cut and pressed on 180g high-quality solid BLACK vinyl. All tracks have been specially remastered and mastered for vinyl by Daniel Hallhuber at Young and Cold Studios (Germany).

Info:
A DJ, producer and significant figure in contemporary electronic music, Marcel Dettmann steps forward to contribute to Running Back’s ongoing Mastermix series. Whereas previous editions of Mastermix have taken an ear to the sound of lapsed, legendary clubs such as Wild Pitch and Front, Dettmann’s curation deftly captures the man himself in ongoing perpetual motion, raiding the vault for his own precision-tooled edits, long-employed on dancefloors to devastating effect. Alongside a continuous mix, this release arrives as a 3LP gatefold, and as a limited edition cassette.
Closely associated with Berlin’s techno landscape, Dettmann was born and raised in the former GDR, then later immersed in the bleary-eyed counter cultural landscape of post-unification Berlin. Initially oriented by post-punk, industrial and new-wave music, Dettmann has been DJing since 1993, always expanding and perfecting his repertoire. He later began working behind the counter at the city’s tastemaking rave boutique Hard Wax, and a decade after he first dropped a needle, became (and remains) resident at notable local nightspot Berghain/Panorama Bar, where his instincts have helped sculpt the signature sound of both main dancefloors.
Of course, you’re probably not asking, “Who is Marcel Dettmann?” More importantly, you might want to know; just what treats has he gifted us here? The trip begins with a simple pitch-shift skywards, transforming Identified Patient’s creeping ‘The Female Medical College of Pennsylvania’ into a peak-time freakout, before an alternate take on Toctronic’s ‘Bis uns das Licht vertreibt’ emerges from the vaults for the first time. Dating from 1995, and one of Dettmann’s all-time favourites, Cristian Vogel’s ‘Untitled’ clambers back into the box with respectable cuts, while John Bender’s ‘Victims of A Victimless Crime’ kicks off the flip sporting a new arrangement, transporting us back to the foundations of a confident, stripped-back sound.
A few subtle edits to Clark’s perilously funky ‘Dirty Pixie’ takes us to Dettmann’s remix of Junior Boys. Produced in 2010, it transposes the Canadian duo’s sophisticated pop with our curator in his minimal prime, and has since become an irresistible prize for high-minded diggers. The same can be said for Experimental Products’ explosive proto-electro anthem ‘Who Is Kip Jones?’, empowered from pricey Discogs purgatory with just the slightest of tweaks. It’s deservedly sandwiched between the guiding influences of Chicago and Detroit in the form of Mutant Beat Dance’s raw ‘The Human Factor’ and a shimmering new version of previous solo production ‘Water’, featuring close friend and Ostgut Ton ally, Ryan Elliot.
The second half of the Mastermix seamlessly connects the mechanical past and digital present of EBM and industrial in the dance, with Dettmann’s instincts as a guiding hand. Severed Heads’ iconic ‘We Have Come To Bless This House’ emerges with mere nips and tucks, while Nitzer Ebb’s ‘Shame’ is significantly reimagined as a highwire act of rhythm and tension, setting up a sensual second take on a 2017 remix of ‘Limbo’ from Swiss synth heroes, Yello.
Core musical memories are shaken and stirred with a context-shifting take on Frank Duval’s emotional classic ‘Ogon’, while Ian North’s ‘Sex Lust You’ and Ford Proco’s notable Coil collaboration ‘Expansion Naranja’ effectively throb with only minor adjustments, respectfully imagined as “shadow versions”. Meanwhile, a simple breakbeat lifts Albert Kuningas’s ‘Astraalprojektio’ in the direction of wide-eyed dancefloors, while a fresh take on K-Alexi Shelby’s ‘Season of The Real’ inexplicably emerges somehow even funkier than before.
The conclusion of the compilation leads back to Das Tier from the prolific experimentalist Conrad Schnitzler, whose swirling synths and hypnotic vocals are duly tightened by Dettmann, but only as he puts it, “in conversation with the original.” Concluding three discs and thirty years of commitment to the dancefloor, this Mastermix not only offers us the opportunity to eavesdrop on this endless exchange, but to gain some sought-after material for our own record collections.

Townies, homecoming queens, and big men on campus manifest a homegrown and revolutionary sound in Civil Rights-era Greensboro.
Among presidential hopefuls and future astronauts, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, located in Greensboro, was a hotbed of black excellence, activism, and raw talent. At the helm of a half-dozen labels, local yokel Walter Grady assembled a rotating cast of townies, homecoming queens, and big men on campus to manifest a scintillating sound that was both homegrown and revolutionary. Georgie Sweet - I Swear To You
First Word Records are incredibly proud to bring you 'I Swear To You'; the stunning sophomore album from Georgie Sweet. Georgie is a singer / songwriter currently based in Brighton, with a uniquely smooth, soulful vocal tone. Whilst working on her debut record ('Misunderstood'), Georgie began a songwriting partnership with multi-instrumentalist Marc Rapson, who is on the boards throughout this project. The duo discovered a natural musical connection instantly, and began working on an abundance of beautiful new material shortly after the release of the first album; writing and creating at Rapson's home in Hertfordshire at various sessions from 2021 onwards, culminating in this new 12-track album, 'I Swear To You'. Despite being one of the UK's best kept secrets, Georgie's already been pricking the ears of some highly-respected selectors. The first single from this record ('Smaller / All That We Were') received love from tastemakers such as BBC 6 Music's Gilles Peterson ("this one melts"), Jazz FM's Tony Minvielle ("supremely talented") and Clash Magazine ("exudes soulful grace"), whilst previous material found itself in the crates of legendary luminaries like DJ Jazzy Jeff & DJ Spinna amongst others. With a hugely diverse set of inspirations ranging from Stevie Wonder to Michael McDonald, Hiatus Kaiyote to Chappell Roan, Mac Miller to Sampha, and George Duke to EW&F, Georgie's respect, love and admiration for a wide range of music is clear; from jazz to soul to pop to hip hop. Her own sound sits within the realm of glo-fi alternative r&b. From powerful piano-led ballads, to head-nod boom bap backdrops, this album exemplifies Georgie's eclectic influences and unique talents as a writer and a vocalist, which are growing exponentially. A tapestry of sound that developed whilst Sweet and Rapson moved from the beat-driven vibes of Georgie's earlier work, to finding themselves gravitating more and more to the simplicity of the piano and the voice. From the ethereal acapella opening of 'The Ones We Loved', through to the irresistible jazz-hop bounce of tracks like 'As I Am', 'Smaller' and 'In My Stride', to the midtempo soulful bop of 'Equal Measure' and previously-released 'Energy', to epic ballads like 'Bedsheets' and first single 'All That We Were', to the more melancholy tones of 'Patricia' and 'Maybe in a Different Life', to the almost-gospel flavoured closing title track, this is a truly accomplished and timeless piece of work from edge to edge.

Jazz Room Head Honcho Paul Murphy kept hearing all these fab versions of some of his favourite tunes. He couldn't release them all, a year is just not long enough so it was time to put together the first Jazz Room Records Compilation, entitled JAZZ ROOM PRESENTS: COVERS. Snappy & to the point. Some exclusives and first time Vinyl releases on this Double Vinyl album, ranging from the Psychedelic Jazz Fusion of Helsinki Collective "Saimaa" with their epic LIVE version of the Deodato Classic "Super Strut" to the Japanese Shibuya Jazz Artistry of Quasimode with a Jazzy take on the Galaxy2Galaxy 90's Techno Floor Filler. Jazz meets Dub in the "Slowly" produced "Riot In Lagos" and some finger snapping Cool New York Vibes on Giacomo Gates Hip To The Trip version of Gil Scott-Heron's "Is That Jazz". There's even a Gospel meets Soul Jazz tribute to Simon and Garfunkel. Oh yeah. Did we say there's a Chip Wickham exclusive too? Louie Vega says: "This is an Awesome Compilation!

4. SHORT INFO:
Enxin/Onyx, the duo of Nicky Mao/Hiro Kone and Tot Onyx (formerly group A), joins Other People with
their debut album "In Rupture," capturing the same mesmerizing energy for which their live sets have
become known.
“In Rupture” is not painless but in rupture lies possibility. The elasticity of this time pitching us across
unknown terrain, revealing new potentialities, eclipsing static being. Whether in breach, collision, shimmer or severance, Enxin/Onyx explores these as occasions for transformation. Peeling back the
layers through discord and harmony, exciting the inversion of expectation, towing the listener to
depths and back up again to illuminate the senses. At times metallic and feral, at others murky and
sharp, each song serves as an offering for all that is in rupture; body, spirit, land, ecosystem.
The opening track “A Void” calls to mind some mutation in its mechanical ecstasy, but for what
purpose remains unknown. Even in the near moments of stillness, “Needle Pierces the Threshold”
breathes a forceful disquietude. Tommi’s vocals pulling the listener down into some subterranean
madness, to unravel upwards from all sides, flooding the once parched landscape. In “Embers Kiss
the Eye”, all of time emerges in one moment, compelling the subject’s gaze towards a new horizon.
The album follows its subjects through exile, exhumation and discovery. Through this process plates
shift, fissures are revealed and what once appeared to be indomitable absolutes crack, pointing
towards their inevitable collapse. To be in rupture is regeneration, to be in rupture is to return.
5. VITAL SALES POINTS:
Debut album by Enxin/Onyx (Nicky Mao/Hiro Kone and Tot Onyx, formerly one half of group A)
“Despite its thunderous sonics, the EP derives its intensity from restraint. On her records as Hiro
Kone, Nicky Mao often allows her modular synth programming to tip into chaos, crashing layers upon
layers of sound into one another. Here, each sound feels considered. And rather than simply reacting
to what's coming from Mao's rig, Tokyo works to integrate her caustic and creaking vocalizations. At
points throughout the EP it's hard to discern between voice and electronics. Dorothy might be a
harrowing 20 minutes, but it's thrilling in its hive-mind execution, where two distinctive artists
effortlessly melt into each other.” RA review Dorothy EP
