No stranger to the decks and the dynamics that work the more open-minded floors, Fat Dog has garnered support with his explosive 'Werk' parties in the North East, most recently paying host to the likes of the 3 Chairs, Omar S and Patrice Scott. This limited EP is testament to the wild basement energy that has culminated from these nights, beautifully pressed on wax for this first ever vinyl outing. 'Remember' is a swinging downbeat vocal track based around a superb vocal improvisation from newcomer Chris Raine. An ambitious opener, this is fine UK hip soul with warehouse dancefloor swagger to boot. Next track, the Benji B endorsed 'Cookie' strips the vocals right down into a swirling motif of sunrise energy. This track sounds great on the radio, but will also find favour on the more discerning soulful floors. For a contrast flip over for the kraftwerkian micro-tech of 'Contact' to hear what a 'Werk' party sounds like at a hazy-eyed 3am and finally, as if all this wasn't enough check out the dubby, spaced-out brawn of 'u&me' which sees second outing for vocalist Chris.... on this EP which rounds things off nicely. The legendary New Jersey House collective Smack were responsible for a long list of hits throughout the 90's, with members of the team producing under a number of different aliases and alongside Blaze, Kerri Chandler, Tony Humphries were at the forefront of the New Jersey sound.

One such alias was Princess Di, produced by Smack Productions own Healey LeCator and featuring an unknown vocalist. Together they released a string of X-rated house tracks from 1994 until 1996 that have gone on to be cult classics, standing the test of time.

With the permission from Jeffrey Collins from Music Station, WOLF have hand-picked their favourite Princess Di tracks and combined them onto one bumper 12". Fully remastered and cut LOUD. Sometimes you have to look back in order to move forward!

Limited edition repress, of this much loved Red Rack’em slice of genius that has been an elusive one to get a hold of in recent years, with the cheapest copy on the cogs racking in at £100.

‘In Love Again’ first surfaced as part of Red Rack'em's ‘All I Ever Wanted EP’ in 2010 becoming an underground smash. Soulful vocal samples, and beautiful Detroit strings work uniquely in the WOLF style that we come to expect. For this remix, Red Rack’em offers up an uptempo, with skippy drums, and a deep warm feel.

The B side features a ‘Latin Techno’, which combines filtered chopped up loops, layered over huge beats.

Justin Drake and Clive Henry, recognised as the legendary Peace Division, stood out as one of the UK's most successful tribal/tech house production duos from the late 90s to the mid-00s. Their contributions extended to renowned British labels such as NRK and Junior London, as well as releases with Hooj, Crosstown Rebels, and major label remixes.

Lesser-known but equally intriguing was their venture into a different musical realm under the alias Soul Purpose. Shifting towards a deeper shade of house, Soul Purpose featured tracks characterised by lush chords and rolling basslines, placing a strong emphasis on the soulful elements.

Originally released on Low Pressing Limited, an offshoot label of Clive Henry and Rocky (X-Press 2) iconic Low Pressing, the four Soul Purpose titles emerged between 1997 and 1998. Despite being somewhat under the radar, these tracks gained recognition among DJs in the know. Now, the Selected Works release, compiled from the original DAT tapes and fully remastered, reunites the entire Soul Purpose catalogue for the first time in 27 years since their initial release.

Crack the vault to find some slick, sultry, steamed up window biz from this mystery entity, ranging from a soulful 2-step burner featuring Ell Murphy (we’re still trying to track Ell down to shed some much-needed light on this conundrum), to an acid-tinged melon twister on the A side.

Emotive sweetness from the one they call Gratts, coming correct via those ever-reliable purveyors of all things house, WOLF Music. Two dream-state gems from the Belgian-born, Australia-based DJ and producer, complete with a signature, deep and delectable remix from one of Dublin’s finest exports Glenn Davis.

On the A, ‘Pretty Lights’ is a bittersweet saunter beachside, sun setting in the distance, bass striding beside as keys dance across the horizon. A melancholic narrative over a blissful groove, Brandon Markell Holmes’ heavenly vocals add an undeniable elegance to proceedings, combined with Leïto’s deft touch on the keys. Subtle house music with soul from a producer that’s been toiling away for nearly 25 years.

Flip it to find ‘Polaroids’, a late-night trip across the underground with Tee Amara leading the way. Her sublime vocals are laid over a bumping, piano-laden beat, bit-crushed synths and all. A track that keeps that distinct soulful thread, yet laces it with a club-ready dose of the good stuff.

Dam-based don Retromigration steps into the big leagues letting loose his debut album on WOLF Music. An LP that has long been in the works and for good reason too. Fourteen expertly executed tracks that range from hazy beats and jazz-tinged broken rhythms to club-ready groovers, deep excursions, soulful footwork and even some jungle energy. A distinctive style and energy permeate his tracks with a breadth of influences on offer, from hip hop, to jazz, soul to funk. After a bit of down-time, Spacetalk Records returns with something special: a stunning compilation of obscurities, rare cuts and secret weapons compiled by label co-founder Danny McLewin under his Skyrager alias.
Although most widely known as one half of Psychemagik, McLewin has long been regarded as one of the UK’s most decorated crate-diggers – a DJ and record dealer recognised for his ability to unearth slept-on gems, private press obscurities and campfire-friendly curios. He’s already showcased his curatorial skills on a string of acclaimed and now sought-after comps – see Psychemagik’s Magik Cyrkles, Magik Sunrise and Magik Sunset Pt 1 & 2 – but Traces of Illusion marks the first time McLewin has put together a collection as Skyrager.
There’s no grand concept behind Traces of Illusion, though McLewin’s selections are universally tactile, sun-baked and effortlessly summery, evoking images of nights spent camped out in the Californian desert or beneath the vibrant canopy of an English forest at dusk. As you’d expect, there are no well-known anthems or ‘big tunes’ here, just an inspired selection of largely unknown musical nuggets oozing in quality.
For now, the track list is under wraps but you can be sure there are plenty of highlights to savour amongst the 15 tracks which all add up to an eye-opening, head-soothing journey through the dustiest corners of McLewin’s record collection.

"Electro Baghdad" expands on the ideas explored on the duo"s self-released 2023 debut EP "Electro Hafla, and builds upon SHIRAN"s solo work, which earned her a Songlines "Top of the World" award and widespread praise for her expressive voice and dynamic reinterpretation of traditional Yemeni music - an influence drawn from her maternal heritage. Both born to half-Yemeni, half-Iraqi parents in Israel, SHIRAN and Bakal"s music reflect their diverse heritage. Singing previously in Yemenite Arabic, she bridged generations by blending traditional melodies with contemporary sounds. Now with "Electro Baghdad", SHIRAN and Bakal pay tribute to their Iraqi roots, recontextualising traditional songs passed down through generations, using analog synths, heavy basslines, and pulsing electronic grooves.

Waves Within is a genre-blending triumph from Mexican producers Luca Ferrand and Selva in which they serve up sounds that evolve through deep house, broken beat, jazz, nu-disco and hip-hop. Opener 'Bona Fide' pairs dusty jazz and disco-house with a slick hip-hop switch and some superbly sunny melodies. 'Zarapes (After the Rain)' marries Mexican folk and broken beat, then 'Back To That Thang' twists jazz guitar into a genre-fluid ride and the title track evokes tropical 90s house. Closer 'Lynx' is a shapeshifting house cut with bulbous bass and sophisticated sound design that really brings it to life.

Reissued officially on 12" for the first time, another New York boogie sure shot licensed directly from Greg Henderson, remastered and cut at 45 RPM. Sung by Rome Jefferies and backed by vocal trio Lorali (led by Isabelle Coles of Kleeer), ‘Good Love’ was produced and arranged by maestro Greg Henderson and independently released on his Rain Records imprint in 1983. Wind the clocks forward to the present, and the track is revered as an underground classic from Mr “H”, who'd spent the 70s performing with Soul, Funk, and R&B bands on the New York live circuit, and leading groups like Master Force. To paraphrase Greg Wilson that "Boogie was, in essence, the direct continuation of Disco in its purest form", Henderson’s handful of releases on Rain combined the old with the new in that same way, connecting the dots between the Disco Funk era with the undiluted and independent underground NY dance scene of the early 80s.
