A quick five-year jump from 2018 takes us to the long-awaited comeback of the Will & Ink imprint. The Amsterdam collective was inaugurated exactly 10 years ago and has since gained fame for its exciting catalogue of forward-thinking, wonky techno experiments.

One of their mainstays for years, Yaleesa Hall, now presents (drops) a fresh batch of absolute dance floor madness with the Cullen EP. The EP features four experiments in highly energetic stepping electro, broken techno, and rumbling subs. It marks an exciting return and serves as a promising taste of what's to come.

Amsterdam based artist and creative technologist Andeh Lang is back on Will & Ink. After debuting on this label in August 2016 with an uncredited black label, he now serves up three more tracks that show off his interest in shaping and sculpting sounds for the main imprint. All these tracks were created with his own custom made software and self-programmed audio algorithms. Three experimental techno excursions that go by the name of 'Susskind' showcase a wide variety of deserted techno landscaping by a creative mastermind.

Next up on Will & Ink is a second release from Yeleesa Hall & Malin, hot on the heels of their last collaborative effort, Lucas, at the end of 2015. Once again the mysterious Hall and Amsterdam/Paris based Oscillate Music boss cook up some hard hitting house that is sonically inventive. Opener 'First Carol' has hulking kicks and hits and a writhing, monstrous sounding synth line that brings real rawness and energy to the four-four beats all around it. Some spooky little beat-less passage of eerie industrial sounds appear before 'Second Carol' again slips into a well swung and purposeful groove. This one is rubbery and rolling, with dubbed out chords riding up and down and airy hats adding a sense of scale. Another EP of contemporary club music of the highest order.

Back in May producer duo Will & Ink launched a new label. Now they give us another glance into their musical universe with their second EP, Wilson. 'First Wilson' is a well swung bit of dub techno that rocks back and forth in a vast open echo chamber and features some crazed machines taking control and whirring manically until the dubby, pendulous garage groove returns once more. 'Second Wilson' is a more flat-footed slow techno jam. The kicks are hard and fast but are softened by blurts of thick synth and various little sound effects and wouldn't sound out of place on Fachwerk, whilst closing track 'Third Wilson' is another muscular and physical thing with barrelling kick drums, little rays of synth light shooting through and warped and reversed tones cut right through it all to devastating effect. It's rave and jungle like at the same time as sounding thoroughly contemporary.

His evolution culminates today with “In Sight”, a double work conceived and produced in two separate volumes. “In Sight Vol. 1”, finally revealed in all its glory, is still oriented towards the clubbing context, with the exception of “O Soñho”, a slower-paced bossa nova with a cinematic atmosphere. The album also contains a previously unreleased instrumental version of “Samba Skindim” (title track from the 2009 10” EP), a ‘great classic’ and one of Frisina’s most appreciated compositions both by listeners and Gerardo himself.

Firmly bound to Schema Records since the beginning (“Ad Lib”, 2001), in over twenty years of career Gerardo Frisina has released several records that have consolidated his status as a leading name in the international jazz and electronic music scene. Always unique in blending traditional elements (latin jazz, funk, soul) with modern sounds, since “Moving Ahead” (2020) in particular Gerardo has introduced new ‘cosmic’ and ‘futuristic’ elements into his style, in a constant evolution that culminates today with “In Sight”: this new double work, conceived and produced in two separate volumes - the first to be released on April 4th, 2025 - further refines a sound that can be clearly recognized from the first notes
of each track.
Anticipated by the two singles “Mindoro” and “Desejar”, “In Sight Vol. 1” is finally revealed in all its glory. The artist’s care to every single detail is manifest in all of the album seven tracks, as per tradition oriented towards the clubbing context, with the exception of “O Soñho”, a slower paced bossa nova with a cinematic atmosphere. Black Loops is an endlessly creative producer who has brought constant invention to house music since his first release over a decade ago. His widescreen sounds take their cue from funk, soul and disco and are underpinned by a love of 90’s grooves. They appeal to DJs and dancers alike which explains his constant demand for DJ sets around the world as well as his music being played and supported by the biggest names in the scene. After many years of vital 12"s and remixes, he now draws on everything he has learned and raises his levels with a fully realised debut full length album dropping 9th May, 2025. Ahead of the LP we present the Experience EP which sees Jimpster and Black Loops himself deliver Dub versions of two of the LP’s highlights; Electrical and Experience. Jimpster kicks off with a stripped back, rolling Italo-inspired groover with touches of modular synth sequences, string stabs and dubbed out vocals. Black Loops follows with his own version keeping the funk factor intact with guitar licks, synth blips and extra fat, moog bassline. Flip over for the original of Experience featuring Marlena Dae with it’s distinctly 90’s, Vogue-era Madge mood. Black Loops then proceeds to take it to the club on his Dancefloor Dub, stripping out the vocals and working up a punchy, minimal groove for the dancers. Closing out the release we have an exclusive original, not included on the LP entitled Inmasoul. Jazzy, deep beats are the order of the day here, making for a perfect warm up track to set the mood.
