Recorded around 1978 is this wonderful slice of Seattle soul by the group Poppeye.
"Never Gonna Give You Up" is all set and ready like a loaded gun for the dancefloor. It's on that right side of feeling good soul music without being too disco or too cheesy. Lovely synths get it all up and running but its the light and airy guitar rhythm backed with stabbing horns and the group's harmonies that keep it all together , with James Clifford's vocals floating long like a Mac Davis "Im In Love" outtake. Wonderful stuff!
"Be Mine Baby". is like yacht rock on the next level. Rasping echo guitar riffs and a head nodding baseline kick it all off. The tightness of the horns by these well accomplished musicians is all here. Dont really know what to say other than its KILLER!

"Music, Sweet Music" sounds like a perfect little song with lovely summer vibes, a bit of vocal scatting and lovely organ licks from the multi talented Ellis Hall.

Absolutely flawless Boogie sounds on NYC's SAM Records from 1982, Greg Henderson's "Dreamin" was licensed from the tiny Rain Records label and no doubt gained some invaluable exposure to the early 80's post Disco club scene that was in full swing at that time. Breezy, soulful, sweet and most importantly of all - funky, "Dreamin" is an absolute pleasure to the ears. Greg Henderson only released a handful of records during his career (including the incredible Henderson & Whitfield - "Dancing to the beat") and was also involved in the production of some other classic Boogie rarities (Masterforce - "Don't Fight The Feeling" , Rome Jeffries - "Good Love"). "Dreamin" has always been a sought after record, often fetching collectors prices of £100 - £200 a time. A sublime cut for all lovers of Disco, Boogie, Funk and Modern Soul. Now made available again, legitimately licensed, remastered and reissued in conjunction with SAM Records New York City.

First released on legendary disco-boogie imprint SAM Records back in 1982, the track has long been a favourite with boogie DJs and with good reason. Built around a memorable bassline, squelchy electrofunk synths and unfussy machine drums, 'Feel Alright' boasts a fine female lead vocal whose lyrics extolls the virtues of dancing all night with happy strangers. As it did back in 1982, the vocal mix comes backed with an instrumental take in which producer Darryl Payne's killer bassline and synths rightfully take centre stage. The Demon Singles Club has been digging deep again and this time they have unearthed a trio of delights from Travis Biggs. Biggs played the keys with Isaac Hayes towards the end of the 70s when Hayes was playing with disco sound. During that same era, Biggs went it alone on a pair synth laced and spaced out albums 1976's Challenge, on TB&C, and 1979's Solar Funk, on MCA subsidiary Source. The trio of cuts on this 12" come from the latter of those two - one of them will be particularly recognisable to J Dilla fans for the famous beatmaker sampled it quite famously.
