Released to critical acclaim and arguably Halsall's most complete recording Fletcher Moss Park is inspired by one of Manchester's most beautiful places. A rambling, multi-tiered park of walkways and dreamy gardens that offers the contemplative Halsall a place of peace and respite from the city, a meditative space to think and write in. The stillness and beauty of the surroundings have steeped into his beautiful compositions for this album. Elegant and sincere, Halsall's compositions draw on his love of spiritual jazz, modern dance music and favour an earthy honestly and direct communication over tricksy arrangements and it is this deceptively simple openness that gives his music such a unique flavor. Salute to the Sun: Live at Halle´ St Peter's documents a very special concert recorded at the iconic Manchester venue during lockdown. Released in November 2020, Matthew's Halsall'sSalute to the Sunwas the trumpeter's first album since 2015'sInto Foreverand marked the debut of his new band. A hand-picked ensemble featuring some of Manchester's finest young musicians. The album drew it's energy from the band's weekly sessions and was inspired by Halsall's love of nature. Lush and spiritual it received universal praise, but Halsall and his band were frustrated that they were unable to share their beautiful new sound live with an audience. On November 25th 2020, Halsall took his band into the iconic Manchester venue, Hallé St Peter's, for a concert recording in aid of the charity Mind, that was streamed on January 21st 2021 to a global audience in the thousands. The concert was also recorded for posterity. "When we recorded Salute to the Sun, I wanted to create something playful but also quite earthy and organic that connected to the sounds in nature. It seemed to strike a chord with people and I was blown away by the response to the album. Our concert film, recorded at the height of last winter's lockdown was a special moment for us all and I feel that the concert recording captured something beautiful that we wanted to share". Manchester based trumpeter, composer, arranger and band-leader Matthew Halsall is one of the rising stars of the UK jazz scene. His unique sound was brilliantly described as "Rain-streaked spiritual jazz from Manchester" by the Independent On Sunday and as a label-boss he has nurtured the careers of Mammal Hands and GoGo Penguin via his Gondwana Records imprint, while his own recordings have explored modal and spiritual jazz, string-laden minimalism and hard-bop. ON THE GO was Halsall's 2011 breakthrough disc, drawing inspiration from the late 60s hard-bop sounds of Max Roach and Art Blakey as well as the Strata-East and Black Jazz labels. it's Halsall's punchiest recording and won Jazz Album Of The Year at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Awards while the tracks Music For A Dancing Mind and Song For Charlie have proved amongst Halsall's most requested compositions. Re-mixed and re-mastered at Gondwana's home from home, 80 Hertz studios in Manchester and reissued here due to popular demand, ON THE GO appears here in an extended format that adds three new tracks alongside the original album and appears on vinyl for the first time. Halsall explains the decision to reissue On The Go, "I have always loved this album, and when fans kept asking me for a vinyl version I decided to make a special edition release, so I remixed and remastered the whole album with George Atkins at 80 Hertz Studios and in the process decided to include three bonus tracks that were recorded around the same time and took inspiration from one of my favourite jazz records, Miles Davis's Lift To The Scaffold "

For his third long-player under the Phi-Psonics banner, Ford-Young marshalled a series of live recordings at the Healing Force Of The Universe record store in Pasadena, sculpting fourteen tracks, largely composed in the moment with a fluctuating cast of players, which wonderfully transmit his ideals of community and inner peace. Called "Expanding To One", it features exquisitely calming yet searching pieces like "There"s Still Hope", where Seth"s softly undulating bassline underpins beatific explorations from core Phi-Psonics members, Sylvain Carton and Randal Fisher (both on saxophone), and Josh Collazo (drums), alongside guests Zach Tenorio (Wurlitzer piano) and Mathias Künzli (percussion). Equally sublime, "Healing Time" ripples like a mountain stream, with Ford-Young, Carton, Fisher and Tenorio joined by Minta Spencer (harp), Dylan Day (guitar) and, on drums/percussion, Jay Bellerose, a revered LA stickman most recently under the spotlight in Jeff Parker ETA IVtet.

Already a respected figure in the Antwerp scene back then, Marius Acke had co-produced numerous records for Mixz Productions and the iconic ARS label, including remixes for acts like Technotronic. His sound blended US-influenced house with early hip-hop sensibilities and deep, synth-laced textures, earning him a cult following among vinyl diggers and local DJs alike.

Happiness Therapy is proud to give new life to this essential piece of Belgian house history with a reissue of the Crucial Traxx EP series. All tracks have been carefully remastered and will be available on both vinyl and digital formats, including a special limited edition of 100 translucent red vinyl copies. HTCT01 marks the beginning of a reissue series dedicated to the lost gems of Marius Acke’s discography.

Saxophonist, flautist Chip Wickham takes us to Cloud 10 with his most soulful and lyrical album to date Chip Wickham is a jazz musician and producer who divides his time between Spain, UK and the Middle-East and who has made a name for himself with a series of beautifully crafted solo albums that draw equally on the hard swinging spiritual jazz of Roland Kirk, Yusef Lateef and Sahih Shihab, alongside the music of British jazz legends such as Tubby Hayes and Harold McNair and the more contemporary sounds of Jazzanova, Kyoto Jazz Massive and Robert Glasper. Originally from Brighton, Chip studied in Manchester and became involved in the 00's UK jazz, soul. trip-hop and funk scenes, working with the likes of The Pharcyde, The New Mastersounds and Nightmares On Wax as well as playing with Matthew Halsall's Gondwana Orchestra. And his relationship with Gondwana Records goes right back to the very beginning as he played on Halsall's 2008 debut Sending My Love. Cloud 10 is his debut album for Gondwana Records (following a 12" of Lonnie Liston Smith covers in May) and it is a wonderful, timeless, lyrical, slice of hard-hitting, soulful, spiritual jazz and modal hard-bop with a distinctly UK flavour - driven by Chip's deftly funky flute work and hard-hitting tenor. Underpinned by Chip's restless energy and driven by his desire to connect with the listener on a deeper level.Cloud 10 features pianist Phil Wilkinson, vibes player Ton Risco, bassist Sneaky and drummer Jon Scott (all veterans of previous albums) together with harpist Amanda Whiting and percussionist Jack McCarthy whom Chip met touring in the Gondwana Orchestra, and rising star Irish trumpeter Eoin Grace who also doubles on flugel horn. The album was recorded at the legendary all analogue Estudios Brazil in Madrid, with the band spending a week at Chip's house in the mountains just outside the city, eating and drinking together, listening to music till the small hours and recording all day. It was a magical time and the positivity seeped into the recording.

Growing up on the slag heaps of County Durham Northumbria, young Sam Robson dreamed of one day finding a better way & somewhere to live with nicer bloody weather! An avid record collector from an early age he looked to music for the answer…
Born in Bradford in the late 60's and growing up in the North-East in the 70's, alternative music fast became his obsession from punk, to new wave, two tone, rock and new romantic he collected it all. Electro and Hip Hop hit his local boombox in the form of "Crucial Electro" on StreetSounds Records and he was soon hungry for anything new & electronic coming out of the U.S.
His call was answered one day at school his mate Gareth (a fellow music enthusiast) lent him a 12" record from Chicago that opened up his mind & changed his course. The piano and gospel tinged record was none other than Marshall Jefferson's "House Music Anthem" that told him "to move your body" and that "house music was gonna set you free…' The rest is History. forward 10 years later to 1996 and Big Sam is now DJing a weekly House night in Santa Barbara alongside LA stalwart DJ Doc Martin. He lives just south of Santa Barbara two blocks from the Pacific Ocean in the sunny beach town of Carpinteria, (about an hour north of Los Angeles).
The warehouse is kitted out with a full studio set up of Roland Corp's latest & greatest but he also has the City Planning Commission breathing down his neck and threatening the boot as his residence unbeknownst to him had been built without any city permits! He is told that his only hope for keeping his building safe from demolition is THE CALIFORNIA COASTAL COMMISSION who protect everything 3 miles in on the entire California coast.
With the Coastal Commission on his mind & while managing L.A Dance Mecca music store "Beatnonstop Records" he meets fellow Brit, musician & house-head Chris Penny aka CPen. They quickly bond at The Cat & the Fiddle over a pint & early 90's rave and Jungle toons. Sam invites Chris up to his studio in Carpinteria for a weekend getaway from LosAngeles and a studio seshion. That night they stuff Chris's Rhodes piano in the boot of Sam's tiny Beemer and shoot up the coast on Highway 101 Carpinteria bound with their mate Lil Johnny "Toaster Oven."
After burning the midnight oil (with fellow studio boffin & PCH engineer "Evil Eye" Nate), when daylight broke "Rhodes through Space" was born. A mastering session was quickly booked and the white labels arrived a week later where they were quickly stuffed into a suitcase and it was off to South Beach/Miami to promote the track at for WMC aka Winter Music Conference. In quiet desperation and not knowing what to name the collective "COASTAL COMMISSION' featuring CPen was agreed upon and scribbled onto the White Labels. As fortune would have it, Sam would run into Philly House stalwart King Britt outside his hotel who was a regular customer at the store back in L.A. King would be one of the first peeps to receive a copy of the record. That night King invited Sam to the club where he broke the track at the Basement Jaxx Conference party party to a packed house alongside legends Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden & DJ Sneak.
25 years later the Coastal Commission are back, remastered and Cpen has since received two Grammys with Honey Dijon for their work on Beyonce's House album. "Rhodes Through Space" is a musical tribute to the club/rave/warehouse party that is still relatable to this very day.

Salute to the Sun: Live at Halle´ St Peter's documents a very special concert recorded at the iconic Manchester venue during lockdown. Released in November 2020, Matthew's Halsall'sSalute to the Sunwas the trumpeter's first album since 2015'sInto Foreverand marked the debut of his new band. A hand-picked ensemble featuring some of Manchester's finest young musicians. The album drew it's energy from the band's weekly sessions and was inspired by Halsall's love of nature. Lush and spiritual it received universal praise, but Halsall and his band were frustrated that they were unable to share their beautiful new sound live with an audience. On November 25th 2020, Halsall took his band into the iconic Manchester venue, Hallé St Peter's, for a concert recording in aid of the charity Mind, that was streamed on January 21st 2021 to a global audience in the thousands. The concert was also recorded for posterity. "When we recorded Salute to the Sun, I wanted to create something playful but also quite earthy and organic that connected to the sounds in nature. It seemed to strike a chord with people and I was blown away by the response to the album. Our concert film, recorded at the height of last winter's lockdown was a special moment for us all and I feel that the concert recording captured something beautiful that we wanted to share".
