Placid aka Paul Wise is chief in command at ‘We’re Going Deep’ – an expanding online community and record label, born from lifelong affair with the many shades of electronic rhythm and obsession for collecting records since 1988. He’s spent the last 3 decades moving heads and feet at venues, parties and fields across the UK and beyond.
On a mission to share and release new music via his label, you’ll find only the best in Acid, Electro, IDM, Techno and Deep House for the dance floor, front room or your headphones making the cut. For the 10th and final edition of his much prized various artist series, he unearths more machine fuelled magic: offering another set of equally excellent music from stellar talent.
Starting the dance, Dutch maestro Boris Bunnik dons his Versalife mantle to opens with ‘Skirmish 101’. Setting the machines to cycle, Bunnik fires a hefty slab of bass to bring down the walls whilst pristine robot like rhythms set your body in motion, all enveloped with sparse synthesis and shimmering effects. Crashing the joint with ‘Acid Baby’ - The Acid Pimp drops a no holds barred, riotous 303 workout that’s nothing short of a tour de force in exorcising the power of Roland’s most celebrated silver box. Putting pedal to the metal with drums and reverb, a smiley face or grimace is guaranteed!
Longtime collaborators Jamie Anderson & Owain K reset the dial on the flip with ‘Basement Dub’, a house paced workout that glides at a steady pace. Evoking the spirit of Mood II Swing whilst immersed in the depths of an underwater realm. Ending on the upbeat note of Konerytmi’s ‘Aamunkoitto’, the Finnish producer reflects a breezy disposition with a joyful melody, step-to electro beat and rolling acid bassline – all perfectly balanced to keep your calm and head out in the right direction, a great way to sign off on this highly collectable series. D5 - No Analysis
Placid aka Paul Wise is the leading light behind ‘We’re Going Deep’ – an online community and record label, born out of a lifelong affair with the many shades of electronic rhythm and an obsession for collecting records since 1988.
Known to many in underground House and Techno circles, he’s spent the last few decades moving heads and feet at select venues, parties and fields around the UK, as well as overseas. His mission is all about sharing and releasing new music: serving up the best in Acid, Electro, Techno and Deep House for the dance floor, front room or even just your headphones. For the label’s 3rd “Solo Series” edition – Paul is delighted to welcome the talents and tantalising touch of one of the UK’s finest doyens of deep: ‘D5’. Offering up a trio of superlative sounding machine soul cuts for the next release. An artist who lives and breathes the mantra of less is more when it comes to his work, in large part his much prized output has only ever been released courtesy of Delsin (need we say anymore?).
Regarded amongst some of finest makers of immersively spatial Electronica of the last 2 decades, this selection of cuts is no exception to his already highly acclaimed body of work. Starting the dance in style, A1 ‘Red Analysis’ dives headfirst with Electro-tinged sensibilities – yet steers a course pushing a shiny bleep and bass led groove which simply keeps on building. As layer upon layer of melodic elements find their place amongst the space, the powerful pulse of a 909 propels you forward to reach a majestic climax. A tour de force in every sense, you will not regret this playing at extensive volume.
Hit the flip to B1 ‘Black Analysis’ and you’re led deeper into a dream like state. As stabs pulsate outwardly into the unknown, woozy chords evolve from their core to envelop your consciousness. The broken beat of drums sway gently back and fore, inducing a blissful level of serenity that is nothing short of magic. The EP is rounded off with the slightly heavier flow of B2 ‘No Analysis’, with straight up drums meeting a pulsing bass and hypnotic lead, which fizz into multi-layered delights as the mood rises.
In short, this Electronic music at its most sumptuous: where texture and warmth lift the soul, revive the senses and impart a rare sense of ‘the art of the possible’. More

Paul Wise aka Placid is the driving force behind ‘We’re Going Deep’ – a thriving online community and record label that’s showing no signs of slowing down as we pop, dip and spin into the spring season. As a label owner, Paul’s mission couldn’t be clearer - releasing new music for heads of all persuasions. Fresh cuts aimed squarely at the dance floor, your front room or even just the headphones. Rather than staying too hung up on the past, he continues to focus on serving up the best in new Acid, Electro, Techno, Deep House alongside scintillating slices of Downtempo music.
Sticking to the trusted format of 4 superlative cuts from equally talented producers, the quality and talent on show does not disappoint on WGD 007. Starting the dance with 303 maestro and label legend Tin Man, A1 “I Said Acid” is a tantalising twist on the classic combination of a Roland TR-707 and SH-101. As a metronomic pulsating kick carves out a squarely hewn path, slow opening filtered lead and hauntingly repetitive “Acid” vocals exert maximal pressure to create a sheer moment of joy. Balanced out by the dreamy atmospherics of A2 “I’ll Meet You On The Dancefloor”. UK Deep House supremo Rai Scott exerts her perfected knowhow: blending organically tinged percussion with profound melodic touches that meander across the borderlines of your consciousness.
On B1 “Necessary Order”, the machine mastery of Sound Synthesis collides in perfect harmony as Keith Farrugia demonstrates his deft turns of the dials that are becoming more in demand. A sprinkle of stargazing soul is woven around light touch acidic tweaks and snappy drums, echoing the twinkling embers of the cosmos. Not to be outdone, Dutch born German bred producer Roger Van Lunteren takes control with the final slice on B2 “Le Dee Trois Trio Prends Trois”. A wince inducing, sawtooth heavy jam that should not be taken lightly. As the saying goes, this one’s only for headstrong. More

Paul Wise aka Placid is the driving force behind ‘We’re Going Deep’ – a thriving online community and record label that’s showing no signs of slowing down as we start the new year. Born out of a lifelong affair with the many shades of electronic rhythm and an obsession for collecting records that first started in 1988.
As a label owner, his mission couldn’t be clearer: releasing new music for heads - old and new. Fresh cuts aimed squarely at the dance floor, your front room or even just the headphones! Rather than staying too hung up on the past, he’s very much focused on serving up the best in new Acid, Electro, Techno, Deep House along with the odd slice of Downtempo goodness.
Sticking to the trusted format of 4 different producers, all serving up high grade electronic explorations, WGD 006 launches with another stellar line up. Headed up by the foreboding sounds of Versalife with “Omikron” on A1, spacious atmospherics and half-step beat usher in a gnarled bassline that simply won’t let go. As delicately placed melodic touches light up an otherwise pitch black soundscape and open up the spaces in between, it’s a superb reminder of the Dutchman’s majestic talent. Accompanied with an outing from Belgium’s rising talent Mariska Neerman, snappy percussion and machine pulses greet you from the off on A2 “Twin”, evolving into a fully emotive and uplifting ride. Leading with layered synths, Neerman demonstrates her sparkling knowhow for drenching you in heart warming pads and strings that harmoniously sing.
Written under his Analogue-1 alias, head to B1 for the legendary sounds of James Zeiter shimmering through on “Counterpoint”. A subtle and stripped back 4/4 trip into the lighter side of acid inspired grooves that shuffles out into the unknown: tweaking all the way as the intensity build. Powerful stuff at the right moment, do not underestimate the alchemy at work here. Last but not least, newcomer Morthen Kiang leaves us on a punchy 909 driven martian inspired work out, that fully summons the vibe of our Red Planet friends. A perfect ending note packed full of machine oscillations and cosmic waves. More

Paul Wise aka Placid is the driving force behind ‘We’re Going Deep’ – a radio show, online community and record label born out of a lifelong affair with the many shades of electronic rhythms, alongside an obsession for collecting records since 1988.
During 2021, it’s safe to say that he’s certainly shown no signs of letting up. Known to many in underground House and Techno circles, Paul has spent the last few decades moving heads and feet at select venues, parties and festivals across the UK as well as further afield. His mission is all about sharing and releasing new music: for the dance floor, front room or even just your headphones. His reputation for serving up the best in new Acid, Electro, Techno, Deep House alongside the odd slice of Downtempo really does precede him.
Readying the 2nd WGD “Solo Series” edition to compliment the label’s growing catalogue – he’s called on the talents of emotive Electro producer Gennadiy Manzhos, better known as Low Tape, with impressive results. Offering up four tracks of sumptuous sounding machine led grooves, there really is something quite magical about Manzhos’ work that sets his sound apart from so many.
A master of understatement and muted grooves, this latest set of works are no exception. From the opening expanse of ‘Analog Electro’, metronomic snares give way to washes of delay soaked melody that subtly build and weave delight as simple combination of bass notes roll. Coupled with the pensive mood and cyclical melody of ‘Romancelectro’, we dive deeper into the fold as twinkling piano and strings unfurl: conjuring something ever so slightly in the shade of Select Ambient Works, a sheer slice of bliss.
Hitting the flip, the snappy percussion and perfectly restrained 303 of ‘Arctic Orbital Station’ bring to attention Manzhos’ability to hold everything back as he introduces additional layers of texture without overloading the senses. Last but not least, ‘13th Floor’ offers yet another moment of ethereal delight: rubbery bottom end and enticing melody leaving you feel all the more fuzzy as they take hold. More

Paul Wise aka Placid is the driving force behind ‘We’re Going Deep’ – a thriving online community and record label that’s showing no signs of letting up as we glide towards the end of 2021.
Sticking to the trusted format of 4 tracks of high grade electronic explorations per EP, all sourced from equally excellent artists. WGD 005 fires its way into orbit on Side A with the opening chimes of Australian producer Tim Jackiw’s ‘Urban theory’. A purist slice of machine driven techno-soul that plots a cosmic trajectory through sharp FM bass tones, powerful kick and driving 303 - all drawn together through sparkling rings of chorded melody. As the rattle of metallic snares and searing acid rise, the track unleashes at warp speed: bringing sheer delight. Followed by the expansive talents of 030303 hitman Böhm, ‘The Search’ meanders deeper into interstellar fields with a jam packed full of melancholia, making full use of minimal machine elements for a maximal sound.
Welcoming another original purveyor of electronic music from Australia to Side B, the legendary Biz straddles the line effortlessly between IDM and Electro with the wonderfully uplifting air of ‘Meltdown’. Stacked full of low-end and glistening solar frequencies, his take on the deep space sound will definitely have fans of Automatic Tasty, Moy and Cignol phoning home. Last but not least, Yorkshireman Al Bradley plots a course back towards inner space, serving up a slow acid bubbler that’s text book in terms of restraint and poise – perfect for those orbital moments as you near your final destination. Born out of a lifelong affair with the many shades of electronic rhythms and an obsession for collecting records since 1988. His mission is all about sharing and releasing new music for the dance floor, front room or even just your headphones. Rather than staying hung up on the past, his reputation for digging out the best in Acid, Electro, Techno, Deep House alongside the odd slice of Downtempo precedes him, as he readies the next WGD volume for release.
Throwing down another 4 track EP of high graded electronic sounds sourced from equally brilliant artists, this next edition welcomes the talents of Reedale Rise to open Side A with the charmed tones of ‘Resonant Light’. A magically crafted trip that treads the light fantastic and skips between a heavily swung 808 beat, quick fire bass and modulating synthesis whose dance equate to a greater sum than their singular parts. The accompanying off-kilter acid of Vectrax (Part 2) provides an interesting note by comparison – a wistful mid tempo machine jam that comes courtesy of the mysterious B.R. Posse. Make no mistake, this cut bears all the hallmarks of a seasoned pro.
Over on Side B, Innate boss Owain K leads the charge with a beefy 4/4 slice of dance floor fuelled house meets Techno cut on ‘Another Place’, taking his cues from EBE as he flexes his sound towards larger spaces. Signing off with yet another laidback gem, Wise enlists another up and coming talent in the shape of ‘Polytunnel’. Dropping like it’s hot, the sumptuous tones of ‘Island Rain’ are nothing short of perfection as the Scotsman delivers a warm and comforting blanket of blissful melody and subtly tweaked 303 action. Tom Carruthers - Psyche
Dance music traditionalist Tom Carruthers joins Craigie Knowes. Tom’s commitment to the ruff n’ ready sound of dance music’s formative years is unshaken on the De-Facto EP, bundled with the same synths, drum machines, samplers and FX used in the by-gone golden era of the UK acid, breaks and hardcore scenes. Soul is found in disorder, not in a world that places false hope in perfectionism.

Fresh produce from the man behind the synths. 8008 EP is the sixth edition in Varum's discography. Showcasing his signature style of bouncy beats with just the right hint of breaks thrown in. True to its creator, this EP is not playing it shy when it comes to bold synth-lines and making the best of the drum machines at hand. A wild ride in various tempi and vibes.

A year has passed since Cyan85 first graced the VOITAX catalogue with his successful summer debut EP - "Bay Of Sampieri". His dreamy pads, avant-garde take on retro arpeggios and slamming 808 beats have been continuously conquering our ears ever since, making him a young talent to watch within the electro circuit. He now returns to the imprint with his very first album - "Lucid Intervals", demonstrating his knack for crafting ambitious pieces to establish himself as a respected producer. The LP aims to explore a variety of dystopian atmospheres and energies throughout nine infectious and carefully crafted tracks that build on electro's rich heritage without failing to infuse it with Cyan85's very own remarkable, dreamy electronic signature. Unknown Artist - Changes
The debut release on brand new label Shadow Pressings hits the ground running with 4 heavyweight club tracks that doff the cap to the halcyon days of Chicago house music. Opening track The Messiah takes the maestro Lil Louis blueprint with sampled sax licks and punchy synth stabs accompanying the raw, minimal house groove. It Started In Chicago heads in a more jacking direction with a snaking bassline, muscular drum groove, cut up vocal and sax hits.
Flipping over we have How Does It Feel which brings a touch of late night deepness with a rolling FM bassline and familiar vocal hook. Classic string stabs join the party in the breakdown adding the icing on the cake and making for a track guaranteed to create a special moment on the dance floor. Closing out this killer 4 tracker we have Changes which keeps things stripped back to the meat and potatoes placing all the emphasis on the punchy 909 drums and simple bassline.

Mr. G - Dub In The System
NDATL continues with the return of Mr. G to the imprint "Stronger Together" EP sounds like a journey through the depths of house music, with each track offering its own unique flavor and energy. Banger "One For Cath" sets the tone perfectly with its driving drums and nasty bassline, coupled with haunting vocals. "Twist" takes things even deeper with its low swinging chord-driven groove. "We All Feel Something" whips the dancefloor into a frenzy with its strong percussion while "Dub In The System" with its shimmering hi-hats drawing you in deeper and deeper is the perfect way to close out the EP. This EP is definitely a must-have for any house music aficionado!
